Browner sounds like he expects to be cut

He would be pretty dumb to think otherwise lol.

We should have Butler, Ryan, Coleman, Roberts next year. Although the latter two are a little uncertain, I doubt we have room for Browner.

I was supppppppppppppppppppper dead wrong about that cut. That's the most wrong I've ever been aside from my heavy bashing of Kevin Love not being traded for Klay Thompson. But, I would take him back for vet minimum or slightly higher. BB can probably get more out of him than NOLA.

Hmm... I mean, they could bring him back and do the same things they did in 2014, except leave Butler on an island instead of Revis, but I don't think Butler is totally ready for that yet. Plus, we have Ryan, Roberts, Coleman and Melvin all developing...

I probably would pass and try to sign Tarell Brown again on small money.

Let's not forget Browner's role in arguably the greatest Super Bowl play of all time.

A guy with that kind of veteran sense and savvy might have some value at the right price.

Brandon Browner mixed with Rob Ryan was a recipe for disaster. Browner is still useful on our defense if the price is right. Would love him back at a cheap price to add further depth and situational talent.

Instead of "sign the beast" I'll actually say don't sign the beast. Penalties aside, he just seems to slow to cover anybody. He was fine in 2014, did his job and knew his role. Not sure if there is room for that here on this current defense. I don't think he would play much either behind Butler, Ryan, Coleman and Roberts. We would be better off bringing back Tarrell Brown as our veteran CB presence. Any chance Browner could play safety or special teams?

However I do see the sense in having Browner around as the "big corner" since most of the Pats' corners aren't very big. However, I don't know how much need there is for that, and Butler still hits you like a freight train despite his stature.

Last summer when he was under contract with the Saints, Browner said he wants to finish his career with the Seahawks. If he's cheap and the Seahawks want him, then he's going back there, not back to New England.

I wouldnt mind having him back and play the same role Chung does. That would mean cutting Tavon most likely.

If he is willing to take a backup role where he will play special teams (he is very good on some units) and play D only for certain matchups, meaning one week he could play 40 snaps and another zero, he would be a good guy to have around. I think he will take the most money offered though, and that won't be us.

He should expect to be cut, he was awful this year. I think playing for the Saints really exposed that he absolutely needs an elite FS playing over the top of him (and probably an elite corner who can live on an island across from him). Otherwise his lack of speed is just too much of a liability.

Browner's greatest asset is that if he gets his hands on someone at the LOS their play is over. As a safety, that asset would be gone, so he'd basically just be a bigger, slower, even more one-dimensional Chung. And he most likely wouldn't have Chung's feel for coming up and making plays in the run game since he's never really been asked to fill that role.
