From PFT:

Hoover said the Panthers were shocked by the way the Patriots knew their offense in the first half, and so they made wholesale changes at halftime, and in the second half the Patriots didn’t know what was coming.

“At halftime, we changed our whole offensive game plan, and that’s one of the advantages of having that long intermission,” Hoover said. “How did they know what we were doing? The play in the second half was a lot different. We were able to put a lot more points on the board and I think that’s a part of it.”

Ex-Panther Brad Hoover still believes the Patriots cheated

So all those halftime adjustments allowed the Panthers to score ZERO POINTS in the third quarter. In fact, the Panthers had 11 total yards in the 3rd quarter. Awesome halftime adjustments.

What happened was Eugene Wilson and Rodney Harrison both went out with injuries and then the Panthers started to move the ball.

Also, the Panthers put 10 points on the board in the first half and 19 points on the board in the second half. A lot more points in the second half is a bit of spin. It was 9 more points in the second half than the first half.

I think Brad's had too many thumps to the ole noggin.

"We were able to put up a lot more points" he acts as if the team scored more in the second half than in the first half, which isn't true. Just a lesson that you can't fix stupid.

Alas, tis is true. However, you sure can ridicule it. :D

In fairness, that Panthers team knows a little bit about cheating.

Super Bowl 2004 turned out to be one of the most exciting Super Bowls ever. When the Carolina Panthers took on the New England Patriots, 140 million Americans tuned in to watch.

Two players among the Panthers' starting offensive linemen had prescriptions filled for a banned steroid within a week and a half of the game, according to the list obtained by 60 Minutes Wednesday. So did the Panthers' star punter, one of the best in the NFL.

The list says the Panthers players had prescriptions for steroids filled at a South Carolina pharmacy. It doesn't say whether they actually used the steroids. But all three players repeatedly refilled their prescriptions – in one case, 10 times.

Steroids Prescribed To NFL Players

The game was close. His team should have been investigated for cheating since it had been established that the Patriots were the best team in the league that year..

Maybe the Patriots had an entire season's plus playoff games' worth of film and game planned?

Jake Delomme is 2-3 years older than Brady.

It's times like these I really wish the Patriots had an ally in the media to say "Brad Hoover? Who the hell is Brad Hoover?" Then they could call this guy a JAG and mock him for whining and making excuses about losing. Maybe they could ask if 9 teams were cheating the Panthers in 2004, when their SB runner-up team went 7-9. Or bring up the widespread PED on his team.

Kind of like what Polian or Dungy would do if anything negative is said about the Colts (or any of their former teams) or Peyton Manning. Maybe they wouldn't call Hoover a JAG, but they would definitely point out how ridiculous his claims are.

The thing is, the whole definition of "cheating" has been moved to mean anything the Patriots to do get an advantage. Maybe they did know Carolina's plays. Maybe Bill jumped into a burning dumpster to retrieve the plan. Whatever happened, and by the way I think nothing happened, since when is all this stuff a cardinal sin? Teams do everything they can to get information and use it to their advantage...why is it that if the Patriots DID in fact know their plays, it is an act of cheating?

Is it actually illegal and against the rules or the laws of the US to "steal" information? I've always thought it was gamesmanship.

The short answer is that it's because it involves the Patriots.

An an example, if you go back a couple of years ago, the Seahawks said they had figured out Manning's audibles and that allowed them to shut down the Broncos offense in the Super Bowl. The best offense in league history was held to one TD, the opposing defense admitted they "stole" the Broncos signals and there was zero reaction to this. There's a few chatty guys on the Broncos and none of them have even used that as an excuse.

He is literally employing the same logic used by the Eagles players:

"They stopped us, therefore they knew what was coming, therefore they cheated."

+1

I see other teams do things and think to myself "if that was the Patriots, someone would accuse us of cheating." Things like anticipating a snap count or simply having the perfect defense on the field for what the offense just tried to do.

This league, filled with these huge, tough as nails macho men, has more whining crybabies than the nursery at Mass General. From the league officials to owners to GMs to coaches to players, sniveling, complaining ****ies abound. It's systemic.

Who the **** is Brad Hoover?

I really think the discussion about him can begin and end with that simple sentiment. He does not merit a discussion being had about what he thinks.

I don't give a Dam about Hoover! plus he "sucked"

So at this point all somebody has to do is say 'I once played against the Patriots, and even though I have no proof I think they cheated', and his comments will generate a column on every website nationwide that covers any part of the National Football League.

That's pathetic.

That is a truly sad statement about the national sports media, but to a larger extent about all the people who follow the sport from casual observers to die hard fans.

The Panthers should have taken the kickoff out of bounds out of their playbook..... Just sayin.
