People looking at RBs are going to be disappointed, unless some spring loose, because there's not all that much currently headed towards free agency.

Edit: why the hell would anyone click disagree on this? The list of free agents to be is readily available. Here's Walterfootball's rated version:

If you think that's a great and deep group, I've got a lovely bridge to sell you.

Disagree completely. Forte, Miller, Ivory, and Doug Martin make the top of the market good and affordable as none will get 10 million a season. It drops off after that but that's to be expected.

I don't get the desire for Lynch, he's under contract, gets 10 million a year, dropped off significantly this season, and has been talking about retiring for two years. They could get Forte and Ivory for the same amount as Lynch would cost and it wouldn't cost them a pick in return. Beyond that I seriously question bringing in a guy who really wants to call it quits. I could see it four years ago but think it's the wrong move right now and I'm someone who sees RB as the top offseason prioroty.

My assumptions (of course I could be wrong):

1. Seattle will cut Lynch if he doesn't retire, so there's no need to trade anything for him.
2. Lynch's price will go down considerably for the reasons you suggest.
3. He would be tremendous with this team and he knows it, and BB knows it.
4. He would cost *less* than Forte or Ivory.

I might be wrong on all four counts, but I bet I'm not. In the least, that's my thinking.

Fair enough, but beyond that I have serious concerns about a guy who really didn't seem to want to play football anymore. The fact that he wouldn't even travel with the team to Minnesota told me pretty much all I need to know about his desire to play and win anymore, I think his head has hung them up already. I would much rather have Forte.

The other thing I wonder about is your view that he would take less than half of what he made last year when he forced the Seahawks into paying him 10 million. Lynch is all about the money from what I can tell so I don't see him taking a bargain deal, in NE.

We should be able to improve upon Ridley without much effort; but I would be very, very careful about bringing Marshawn Lynch here: I question his gas tank, his durability, and his motivation.

Lynch worries me too. Reminds me a little of Corey Dillon running-style wise but has a much worse attitude. Lucky for us, he will be too expensive whether we want him or not.

Lynch is definitely a guy who sings his own song but I wouldn't say he is all about the money. I would even go as far as saying he is less about the money than most. He personally runs his own reach out program for kids in his childhood neighborhood like many others do but Lynch seems to be heavily involved both emotionally and financially. I could be wrong but that is my impression from what I've read.

I wouldn't be concerned with how hard he would run rather how his unique personality would fit with BB.

Well, if he wouldn't take a smaller contract, then don't sign him and he stays retired. Simple as that.
