Tom Brady tells Derek Jeter Patriots ‘blew it’ in AFC championship game loss to Broncos

He also told him water is wet and that bears do **** in the woods.

btw @trevrox, that Brady picture that you're using is one of the creepier things I've seen. He looks like a robot trying to mimic human happiness.

Always gives me a nice chuckle

LOL, have you seen pictures of him? He looks like he ate the Holland Tunnel for breakfast...

Lol, na haven't seen a recent pic. Good for him though. He's earned it.

Also good to see respect for guys like Jeter and Papi regardless of what side of the Yanks/Sox fence ya fall on.

I streamed that event this afternoon and it was very cool to see Brady, Jeter, and Jim Harbaugh all hanging out together. Even Ric Flair showed up later.

I hope Harbaugh didn't make them wear jammies or invite any of them to a sleepover.

The plus side is that all of those collective minds probably still can't figure out a way to beat Ohio State. Boom. ;)

That's a pretty cool exchange with some of the two best athletes in their sports over the last 20 years.

Jeter is his usual silky smooth self with his 5 rings and myriad of accomplishments with the Yankees. Brady looks a bit intimidated with Jeter's presence.

Jeter kept asking Brady how are you doing? Brady kept saying good. The cool thing was Jeter knew Brady was pissed. You can't trick Jeter...he knows you're pissed when you lose a Super Bowl or huge game...he lost 2 World series...

Great exchange from two legends.

Well, that's what happens when you blow games in Denver with a 14-point lead, at home against the lowly Eagles with a 14-point lead, defer in overtime in New Jersey against the Jets, treat the final regular season game in Miami like a pre-season game (with home field on the line, by the way), then choose to not even work on your snap count for another away game in Denver.

This entire season came be summed up with those words. Some can make excuses and say it was injuries that caught up, but I don't buy that whatsoever.

Every single loss this past season was extremely winnable. And in most cases, the team had a lead in those games and well..."blew it".

Gotta appreciate that pure arrogance in this post.

The "lowly" Eagles ? The last I checked they are still a professional football team full with freak athletes that can all perform. If anything this loss should have made many of you people here that regularly just assume wins against certain opponents reconsider how much effort of a team goes every week into preparation and also to the value of special teams.

Also I am pretty sure that we didn't lose to the Jets because of deferring but because we were not able to do **** throughout regulation all game. If it weren't for a drive at the end that was sustained by using all four downs we wouldn't even be in the position of calling a coinflip.

Finally, I find it laughable that you think that the coaching staff didn't put the team into what they thought would be the best position to win the Denver game. If there is anything I learned watching the Do Your Job documentary it is that they are all working their collective ass off. Sometimes it works (see Butler, SB) sometimes it doesn't but it is ridiculous to question their efforts and commitment.

It is like BB once said.. the majority of games are decided by 4-5 plays that are either made or not. In most games this season we made those plays, in the few that we lost.. we couldn't.

Moronic post.

The Eagles were one of the worst teams in football, quit on their coach and was subsequently fired. Telling me a professional football team is filled with athletes has zero to do with how they performed throughout the season.

The Pats rested more players than needed against the Jets in a game where if you win you get to shut down everyone against Miami and in effect have a two week bye. Deferring was just the rotten cherry on top.

I find it laughable that you disagree considering my post has been the most well received in the thread. The coaching was horrendous down the stretch. You're a homer if you disagree with that notion.

Resting player who were close to full strenth in the hopes they'd "turn it on" come post season, sending a rookie to catch punts in the snow, when up by 14, when Chung was doing a solid job all game, deferring in OT when a win gives you home field and a two week bye, treating the Miami game like preseason, and if that was the plan, why play Brady and let him get mauled?, a stupid drop punt when you're up by 14, controlling the momentum and squashing the Eagles, not working on a snap count and adjusting when on the road in a loud environment and historically the toughest place the team has played in and already lost earlier, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.

The coaching was bad. Stop pretending it wasn't. No one cares if you think everything is candy and rainbows.

The Patriots blew the season and should be playing on Sunday. Your favorite QB isn't afraid to admit it, but you are. Hilarious.

If you want to be afraid to face the truth, go ahead. I'm not, and so aren't a majority of posters here.

I dont give a **** if your post is well received by some people here. It is still completely condescending. And you just continue to show that arrogance and disregard for other football teams. You are aware that even the Titans have tons of talent on their team and are coached by professionals. There is no gimme in this league.

But, yes, please by all means continue blaming the coaching for muffed punts, missed punt blocking assignments, missed FGs/XPs or brainfart thrown interceptions by supposedly the best QB of all time. Why would we hold the athletes responsible for their ****ups if it is easier to just point the finger at coaching.

For some reason we don't hear anything about Chung dropping an easy, easy INT when DT punched the ball into his hands on Denver's final drive at the end of the game, even though it would have won us the game in November.

Also if you wanna claim things then at very least research them properly. Harper was fielding punt returns for the majority of the first Denver game. Chung was just used on a single one. If you don't believe me go check the play by play or game tape.

Similarly, we don't hear much about a dropped INT Ninkovich had at the end of the @Jets game when Fitzpatrick's pass hit his helmet and went upwards around the Jets 30 yd line. But lets blame deferring because apparently thats why we lost the game. Not because we could not move the ball all day on offense. Not because Tavon Wilson ran directly into a pick play on his first snap in OT and lost the player he was supposed to be covering. No, it was specifically because we deferred.

I am getting so tired of this selective blame game mostly because it is LAZY. And as much as I loved last years SB win, because of lazy posters like you I sometimes wish Butler wouldn't have made the INT just to see the vile and anger at BB for not calling a timeout.

Very cool. One criticism I have is for those two dumb kids. I get they're baseball fans and want to meet Jeter, but Tom F'ing Brady is just awkwardly standing there and the opportunity was there to meet him and get his autograph and you don't even take the opportunity. Sheesh,
Nah. First of all, he wasn't "awkwardly" standing there. He was talking to the producer. I don't think Tom Brady has been "awkward" in a public setting since 2001. He only does what he wants to do in public and it's all carefully arranged in advance.

I'm pretty sure that part of Brady's deal with Jeter was that he wouldn't be bugged by people not involved in the shoot. Jeter's minute (if it lasted that long) with the kids was obviously pre-arranged and scripted: walk in the door, mom greets Jeter, Jeter does two autographs for the kids, Jeter poses for two photos with the kids, dad (or the guy with the contact) shakes hands with Jeter, everybody out the door. He was doing somebody a favor and it didn't include hassling Brady. The adults who brought in the kids were probably told as they walked in the door not to approach Brady. Brady never makes a move in their direction and the producer does her job by keeping him engaged while Jeter does his favor. These things are pretty carefully choreographed. Those people got one minute with Jeter and they were out the door; that was their deal..

Friendo, I could care less if you find my opinion to be arrogant. That's the beauty of being a fan, I can make an arrogant take and not have to hear Bob Kraft yell at me in the morning.

For the second time, a professional football team is going to have talent on it. That means zero if the team as a collective sucks. You keep beating this drum, yet it has zero to do with anything.

We point the finger at the coaches because it's the coaches who make the decisions. Are you that dense? Why would I blame the defense who's exhausted for not stopping a team in OT, when they shouldn't have been on the field to begin with, as they won the toss? That? Coaches decision. Why would I be made at Nate Ebner for a bad drop punt? That? Coaches decision that should've never happened.

Chung dropping a diving interception has zero to do with why they lost that game. Niko dropping an interception has zero to do with why they lost that game. Did the Pats lose Super Bowl 42 because Asante Samuel dropped an "easy" interception? What an asinine statement.

Go look in the mirror, youre the one making laziest excuses of them all.

Coaching is a gigantic reason this team is home and not in Santa Clara. When former players like Matt Light are calling out coaches and those coaches are being fired, a highly un Belichick thing to do, then the proof is pretty much in the pudding.

You can dance around that all you like, but the truth is staring you right in the face. People who can't criticize this team when they're wrong are the worst posters here. Like talking to a brick wall.

But go ahead, tell me again why we should fear crappy teams like the Eagles and Titans because they have "freak athletes" on them...

WELL SAID !!!! You have wisdom of Nostradamus, my friend. I wish I could rate this post a "winner" multiple times.

Lol, we blew it far before we even got to the AFCC.
