Rams interested in Manning if he comes back next year

To borrow from Fitzy, "Whatever. They're the f&$#ing Rams for a reason."

God I would love this, we are scheduled to face the Rams at home. But no way it happens.

I can't really say that I blame them, since QB is obviously the weakest area of their team.

They probably feel as though they can utilize their defense and strong running game to prevent Manning from having to carry the team on his back, the same way that Denver did. As others have mentioned, the 4 games against SEA and ARZ should be enough of a deterrent that Manning probably wouldn't give this a second thought.

If I'm the Rams though, I go after a QB in free agency or make a trade--for sure.

I actually think it is a decent fit. Manning, if he does decide to return for one more year, will be nothing more than a game manager on a team with a good defense and a solid running game... not too dissimilar from the 2015 Broncos, although talent-wise the receivers in Denver are much better, whereas the running back in Los Angeles is better.

The NFC West opponents may not be the only deterrent, IMO.

IIRC, one of the reasons Manning did not sign with an NFC club a few years ago was because he did not want to be in the same conference as his brother.

Jeff Fisher and Manning? Same team? Media will be INSUFFERABLE! Pretty much their biggest darling coach & biggest darling player....

You forgot to mention that it will be amidst all the glitz and glamor of LA.

Um... wait a minute... Restructured Peyton Manning contract for 2015, 2016 with the Denver Broncos

"In 2016, the final year of Manning's deal, remains unchanged from the terms in the original five-year deal he signed in 2012: $19 million in salary without a no-trade clause."

Sounds like tampering and this is the Rams, not the Jets, so you know that they'll get some draft picks swapped with the Broncos now.

PM Claims he will require a hip replacement surgery in the off season.... He's done. Get him a wheelchair.

During Peyton's team search in 2012, it was reported that he prefers playing for a small market team. I doubt he would want to play in LA with that insane media, especially with the HGH stuff and the fact his play has declined so much. I would love to see him play for longer, though, just as a fan of the game.

Do you think manning is more or less likely to come back if he loses?

that would be a mistake for Peyton, can't bring DT with him. The only player on that roster who's big and athletic enough to go and get his lobs is Jared Cook, and the problem with him is that he's Jared Cook.

Rams would be smart to look elsewhere. They have everything but a QB, and Manning isn't going to be that guy for them. Not like they need him to sell tickets either, LA's going to be all over the Rams.

I think he 100% retires if he wins. What's the point of coming back? He's done, he knows he's done, there's no possible way he could end his career that would make for a better media narrative, which is probably 50% of what he cares about at this point anyway.

I think he probably still retires if he loses, for the same basic reason: because he knows it took the best defense and WR corps in the league just to drag him to the SB, and wherever he ends up next year won't have either of those things. I could see his ego maybe getting the better of him if they get thrashed by the Panthers though.

Actually, that's not what he said at all.

He said that "a doctor" told him he'd likely need hip surgery at some point during his life, and used the example of "if that comes at 52 (age), it comes at 52."

He doesn't need it THIS offseason for crying out loud. He's 39 years old.

I stand corrected, though I read somewhere where he was quoted as saying that a hip replacement is imminent. Oh well... I still hope he retires.

I still hope he retires.

Me too, buddy. Me too. Everything was fine until I realized that TFB has now lost the past 3 AFCCGs to Manning's teams. That rubs me the wrong way, and I'm guessing that it likely prevented us for at least one more Lombardi ('06), if not another in '13 or '15.

I also don't care for the fact that everyone is openly rooting for him despite an actual cheating scandal. That's what sucks the most.

I think more likely to come back if he wins. It would be hard to step away from defending a championship with the league's best defense. If he plays poorly, he might not have a choice regarding another year in Denver.

I'd say much more likely to come back if he loses.

I have one word: Karma. 5hit always turns out happening just the way it's supposed to happen. But for me, I believe Manning was 'put' in this SB 50 so he can ride into the sunset on a loss and an ongoing HGH investigation.

I hope so. My fear is the opposite, especially if CAR makes a couple of mistakes or looks out of sorts on the big stage.
