The salary cap is going up and so will the contracts.

Bingo!!

That's why I never understood people believing we can sign all 3 plus Butler. Not to mention Gronk's contract is about to spike up, and Brady and Garapollo contract expires the same year.

Collins and Hightower are the priorities. Those 2 are elite in their positions, and are game changers. After those two its Butler.

Jones is good, real good, but not great. We can't pay everybody. I think with Chandler, everyone falls in love with the double digit sack numbers, but that doesn't tell the whole story. He disappears too many times in games, and his sacks come in bunches. Denver OL is just as depleted as ours. Those were games he should have dominated, but didn't.

We don't know what we have with Grissom, Flowers, and Rufus Johnson. Do I expect one of those guys to duplicate Chandlers production? No, but we've shown a tendency to rotate the interior guys throughout a game, who's to say that's not the plan moving forward with the edge guys?

Agree. I really hope that his sack numbers will give us a shot at maybe trading him for a nice draft pick this year. Don't see him as a huge difference maker on the field, especially the deeper we get into the season.

Garoppolo hasn't done anything to justify big money so that is a non factor.

We should be able to retain our talent, if the Eagles can give Curry $9.5M per year after the Murray, Maxwell, Ertz, and Johnson contracts we can sign our guys.

Ok, but Brady has.

And we're not the Eagles. Thats why Philly is a 6-10 team, and we're perennial Championship contenders every year.

With the team there Fielding, Curry is one of their top three or four players. After giving Kelly the ax . The Eagles had to save face to their fandom and appear that they are moving forward. More importantly, is what they will be doing regarding Bradford

Yeah I have the feeling down here that the public will be giving Howie Roseman a short leash during
next season. Their best defensive player Fletcher Cox remains without an extension, and his price continues to increase as Roseman continues to give other playes big raises. Stupid Howie.

Yup, agreed on your ranking of priorities. JC and DH are ELITE. Chandler Jones is just really good. Butler I hope they lock up sooner than later because he's only going to improve on his Pro Bowl season.

Don't forget we still have Sheard though. Would like to see if they could extend him as well at a reasonable rate. Will be interested to see what we have in Grissom, Flowers, and Rufus Johnson.

I don't understand why folks want to trade Jones now and rely on Grissom, Flowere and Johnson to replace him.

Because he only has 1 year left on his contract with a fairly large cap hit, he probably won't get re-signed, and Sheard looked great this year. Granted, Jones may just play out the last year of his contract, but the thinking for some people is that his trade value has never been higher, and it'd be good to get a high pick for him now rather than a comp 3rd when/if he walks.

The idea of wearing the 2016 team in order to get a draft pick is a very poor idea. So, yes, I'd rather a 2018 3rd plus Jones for 2016 instead of a 2016 2nd.

The reason we had such great play out of our DE's is BECAUSE we had three top DE's for the first time in years.

If we have a pro bowl quality DE in Grissom or Flowers, so be it. But neither has even shown the ability to be a starter so far.

Yea I'm one of the ones who feels if they have to make a choice, chandler jones will be the one that doesn't get a big contract... but I still want him on the team for 2016 to help take a shot at another title.. then we can get a 3rd round comp pick for him when he walks in free agency

No point trading him a year early unless some team wanted to give us a 1st and 2nd rounder or something crazy lol

And the problem there is that any first rounder we get for him is probably gone anyway. Remember, the Deflategate farce took away whatever turns out to be our BEST first rounder. So if we trade for #17 for example, we lose 17 and pick where we would have at 29. Of course, getting the #29 overall pick isn't a bad thing, but losing a year of Chandler Jones I would want something in the teens at least. Since that's impossible, it's also nearly impossible to get appropriate value for him. A trade would just be silly.

Just playing Devil's advocate. The Pats may deem a cheap future asset of 4-5 years more valuable than an expensive 1 year rental or large, long term contract. Ideally he's with the Pats long term, but they've got a lot of mouths to feed.

Makes no sense to me either. People in this forum were literally screaming about getting a pass rushing DE for years before they drafted Jones and now that they have a guy getting double digit sacks, despite the stay at home nature of their defense, they want to get rid of him for a crapshoot draft pick. The Patriots finally have a really good young defense on the verge of peaking and they want to start trading pieces of it away, it makes no sense at all imo.

If they could somehow sign Wilkerson at similar money I could see moving Jones but creating a big hole at DE simply makes no sense, and Wilkerson is going to come in around 75-80 million imo, whereas Jones should be around 50, which is completely doable.

I think that's a fair number for Wilkerson, but i think Jones is still going to command much, much more than $50mil unless he takes a discount. @Miguel has posted his thoughts on fair contract scenarios, and both JC and DH are probably in the $50mil range. Don't see Jones getting less than $60-65mil. @Miguel feel free to chime in here. Always appreciate your input.

PS-not trying to be combative, just see Jones' market value as a bit higher.

If extended this offseason I expect that Chandler Jones will get a deal that is between what Cameron Jordan got in 2015 and what Robert Quinn got in 2014

Thanks Miguel, that aligns with what I was thinking.
