TWO WR CAP CUTS TO CONSIDER?

i'd rather Garcon over Wallace

Ten times over, but do you think that Washington and Jay Gruden are going to allow their top receiver to leave when they finally brought a contender back to Washington?

They're probably pretty happy that they have an actual QB and offense again, not to mention making the playoffs.

The key here is Brady on those numbers, not Tannehill and Teddy B. Big difference. Is that a fair statement?

He had great numbers with Big Ben. He had two seasons over 1,000 yds. Ironically with Miami in two first years he averaged 900 yds and had 15 TDs. Again...I am not his biggest advocate. I think he will be less than Jeffrey.

Exellent point Toys: poeple forget that this team is a about maximizing what a Player does well. Mike Wallace is a deep threat that would help to clear out the mess underneath for Edelman and Gronk. I gurantee you if they man up on Wallace he would make Brady look good throwing deep because he will come down with the ball... Wallace have nade a living doing that in this league.

True, but if a guy can fantasize, I'd love to see what Garcon and Brady would do, particularly with Gronk and Edelman on the field at the same time.

You think he "will be less than Jeffrey?"

Alshon Jeffrey will be getting about 13-14m dollars a year no matter what, and there's a possibility that he could even top the pacts given to Thomas and Bryant at 5/70.

I don't think we could expect him to produce anything close to Pittsburgh or even Miami, since both Edelman and Gronk would be seeing targets first.

Your retort has some merit but consider this. Bridgewater threw an average of 26.2 passes per game for 201.9 yards per game. Why? Because AP had 327 carries or 29.7 runs per game. What would you do?

Brady on the other hand averaged 298.1 yards per game and 36.7 throws.

Wallace caught 54% of his passes (targets) thrown to him and many were flat misses by Bridgewater. In only 9 games Edelman had 88 targets and Wallace had 79 for all 16 games. That is less than 5 targets a game for Wallace.

To be fair, rookie Stefan Diggs came on and was more of a possession guy. Some thought he might be a Pats pick last year. The Vikings can cut Mike Wallace after this season at no cost. Diggs is one tenth the $. With Bridgewater's arm you do not need a WR to "take the top off", i.e. bad fit for the Vikes.. I would venture to guess at 38 Brady still is the better deep passer.

I think Zimmer made it clear Wallace was a good soldier and liked his attitude.

I don't know where "bad hands" comes in. He still averages 60 catches a year. Plus he has been on two Teams for three years of his career with crappy QBs.

Fact is, this year WR Draft class is weak. This years FA group of WR is weak after Jeffrey. The Pats will have to trade or hope for a CAP cut to get a WR who can help. Some think that LaFell is a better choice? I beg to differ and he can't stay healthy anyway. Wallace has missed one game in 7 years and played through injuries.

I am not a Wallace fan, but if you look at it logically, if he would work on a realistic salary number to get back with a QB that will throw, it makes sense. The Ravens were very interested in him for Flacco last year and might take another run if Wallace gets cut.

From the Miami beat writer:
"BUT we all saw and were admired on how we thought #11's game had improved and his skill set had expanded early in the year. He was excelling in underneath passing lanes, his comeback routes were improving, and his hands (which were previously his biggest knock), well, they were pretty damn good!"

Comeback routes? Yep we had none of that in Denver to help TB.

I do wish that posters would remember that WRs are in three varieties. Slot, Flankerback , and Split Ends. The routes are different, the physical requirements differ, and when you need a container for water, a tumbler and a clawfoot iron bathtub both can contain water, BUT that does NOT make them interchangible.

I've liked Sanu since he came into the league. he's dependable and just quietly gets things done. he shouldn't be expensive and I could see him fitting in beautifully on this team.

The other guy I'd like the Pats to keep an eye on is Jerome Cotchery. Crafty old vet who knows where the first-down marker is. I wouldn't mind either, or both, and neither will cost much.

Cotchery has killed us in the past.
