OT: Cam Newton & the race card

Somebody needs to go back to elementary school and learn the difference between facts and opinions.
You're the second poster that believes there are racist posts in this thread, yet thus far, neither of you can point them out. That's because you can't no matter how much you huff & puff.

That tells us everything we need to know! Thank you for proving my point!

Would someone actually read through every single post just to see if anyone posted something r-r-racist? That would be mondo-bizarre, but entirely possible! I also wonder if you and Tony believe you have that special ability to "read between the lines"!!

Personally I'm not a fan of Newton but it has nothing to do with race. Russell Wilson is a quarterback I really like. Wilson although a different type of QB reminds me of Brady. A guy who when he is celebratory it's usually showing his teammates appreciation or trying to fire them and crowd up.

For the most part I don't like guys with signature dances or celebrations. It makes me think of the Gastineau's and Merriman's of the world. Self-absorbed dinks. That said there is an element of liking it from your own players. Gronk's spikes are great and when he did the British Guard in London that was pretty awesome. I don't like Rodger's championship belt thing he does but I do like the Lambeau leap or when players jump into the first row in general. I'm sure people in cities with rivalries to the Pats think Gronk's celebrations are brash and dinkish.

The thing about Newton is he has about 4 different ones and then there's all the selfies on the sideline. He just fits into that TO, Hollywood Henderson type who's always trying to self promote and cares more about his image than anything else. I will grant his teammates do seem to like him which couldn't be said for many of the others I brought up.

But at the end of the day this has nothing to do with race and him pulling that card just helps add to racial tensions. If Edelman said people hate me because I'm a white wide receiver like Newton did with the black quarterback comments he would get scorned like there was no tomorrow.

If not for playing against Denver it would be really easy to root against the Panthers with Newton.
And to think this whole thread started because this guy was buthurt about Cam Dabbing. Cam Newton should know that he cant violate something as sacred as endzone celebrations, he should learn from the mistakes of McCringleberry.

I'll admit I LOVED Randy Moss' superman celebration! But he played for my team...see how that works?!

Remember he used to act like he was opening his shirt?

This one...

I believe that was in reference to splitting defenders not superman. He mentioned it in a presser, I liked that one as well...

I read a lot of the thread and didn't see anything that rises to a level of kkk hatred. Just a lot of people that don't like Cam's

I loved Randy in a Patriots uniform!

It looks similar to opening his shirt to reveal the "S"!!

People should compare hatred of Brady to hatred for Cam. Only their fans love them.

When teams can't stop a player, it's natural for other teams to root for their demise. We've seen it with Brady for years but no one ever brings up racism or looks for statistics on how many of his haters are non-white.

It's frikkn sports and there's tons of love & hate going on. Why analyze why? I think it's pretty obvious.

While there may indeed be racists post in this thread, my point to you was that the difference between fact and opinion appears to escape you.

As for your contention or opinion that there are no racists post in this thread, I am not shocked that you would believe such a thing. After all, prejudging somebody because they share physical characteristics with other people who have done bad things is perfectly okay.

I know there aren't any racist posts in this thread because they would have been removed and none have been.

I believe you and Tony think it's ok to try to read between the lines of some posts, but maybe I'm wrong.

Or maybe you think some racists may have posted in this thread, but their posts aren't necessarily racist, I don't know. But that would be a strange (and blatantly wrong) way to think.

But if you or anyone else wants to opine that posters have made racist comments, it's on YOU to show them.

And you can not and you will not...end of story!

Next?

Fact versus opinion..continue to ignore the elephant in the room....I certainly will not wade through the posts just to prove a point I don't care too much about proving.

Why don't you find a post that could be on the line and then tell us why it is not racist...as you are the one making the factual declarations...eh?

No it was started because Newton played the race card. It's not about the celebrations. If Newton had said oh well you can't please everybody and I'm going to go on being who I am no matter what the haters think or say he would have won me over.

You keep on with the personal attacks for no reason. I haven't responded nor will I in that manner. I've answered everybody else on the merits of the argument and even conceded points to different members. We should simply agree to disagree.

So we agree, it would be wrong to state there are racist posts in this thread...that was easy enough!

definitely shows a culture gap

Cam's my favorite non-pats player in the NFL and it's not even close

and i suspect a lot of people who hate him do because....well he's outspoken and black and not afraid to be outspoken and black and have fun while doing it

which all makes it quite, quite easy to root for him

enjoy cam newton pissing you off hopefully it's going to happen for a decade ;)

lmao man this thread just makes me love him even more, to be honest. he's pissing off all the right people

go cats

ps Cam is probably one of the most team-oriented people in the NFL, the unit cohesion of the Panthers is as good as anything I've seen in the NFL since the 2001 Pats

Well said. What's funny to me are those saying that Cam Newton is "making people mad" with his celebrations are the ones displaying the anger and incoherence--displayed either with overt anger, or unsupported assumptions, or passive aggressive shots of all types. Interesting.

This thread is emblematic of the state of political discourse these days. Unfortunately.

you specifically complained about how he had 4 different kinds of celebrations but alright
