Come to the Pats for a ring, you dummy!

Wouldn't be shocked if someone lures him out, though. Probably has a lot of football left in him physically.

Classy of him that he didn't go on a ridiculous fairwell tour stealing the spotlight everywhere and instead kept it to himself. Respect.

That organization is all time great repellent...

Actually for a rich guy it should be a curse to live in Detroit. I think he wants out of Detroit not football.

I don't see Detroit relinquishing his rights at all. And if they don't a team can't actually talk to Johnson without permission or compensation to Detriot.

Exactly. Doesn't cost them a dime either.

If Johnson wants to, he can just wait. Given his $24 million cap number, Detroit's not going to want to keep that number going into the new season.

Damn... Lions ruining another player with HOF talent.

Doubt it could ever happen for salary cap reasons.. but man, imagine upgrading the position Lafell is playing with Calvin Johnson to go with Edelman, Gronk and Amendola... with a healthy Dion Lewis returning...

That offense would be insane lol, but they need to secure our young defensive studs first

They have $18M in cap space. They will gain $12M when he officially retires. Still have his prorated SB to account for, so I still think they won't be in a hurry to relinquish his rights. Plus if he doesn't officially retire they can fine him for missing mandatory camps and training camp stuff.

I seriously doubt this will be his last. He might take a season off but I think he will come back to the NFL again, just not with the Lions.

It's what happens when you drink the water....
