2016 Draft Prospect Thread

Whats up everybody. It looks like I'm back at it. Just went through all 18 pages, did a little catching up.

I like @manxman2601, am High on Braxton Miller. I noticed you really like his versatility, which Im also a huge fan that aspect of his Game.

Well moving forward, I was looking at projected TE measurable's and came across a player by the name of Tanner McEvoy from Wisconsin. After a quick search, I found myself very intrigued and further started to dig in. The first video I watched that caught my attention was a highlight video. Upon first watching it, I had to make sure I was watching the right player because its was a combination of 1 player playing QB, WR, & Safety.

Turns out he is a 5th year senior, and transferred to Wisconsin. His original desire upon transferring was to play QB. He did for a portion of the season before hurting his shoulder and moving to FS. He then moved to WR. Im going to let you do the rest of the research on your own. But I really like this guy.

He's 6'ft5/ 6'ft6. 235 Has a projected 40 time of around 4.5, and has played many different positions in the game.

Tell me what you guys think.

Blimey! I watched that and wondered what the catch is. Why's he not getting talked about? I guess is that he just doesn't have an easily projectable position. It should be noted that as a WR he only had 10 catches all year and only caught passes in 4 games so that's probably some of it. But on the other hand, PFF graded him as the best safety in the Big 10 (link). Interesting to see if he's at the combine. He could be an interesting project as a move TE. Nice find.

Same thing I thought . Then between the JUCO come up, and the constant shuffle it made sense.
Thats actually how I've found him. Ive been looking into potential Move tight ends ever sense AH ruined his life. Two years ago it was Lyerla, last year, well last years TE class sucked, but i think you get the point. Im obsessed with the possibilities that would come with another chess piece like this. Personally its one of the things i like most about Braxton. He seems to have pretty good speed for a 6'6 player. He doesnt have "long stride speed", because he's just a lil quicker then that. Whats amazing is he played full time on D and pretty much full time on offense. Thats extremely tuff to do! I tell you what though, I sure do like him more then A.J Derby. So id love him in the later rounds.

A bit speechless to be honest. How do guys like that even exist?

Really cool find. Will be interesting to follow.

I really like Charles Tapper of Oklahoma. Can play DE or pass rushing 3T.

Check out the second play of the game and focus on #91. Yes, that is a 280b guy chasing down Amari Cooper from behind (with a bit of help from a stumble).

More Tapper

So versatile. DT, DE, 5T and stands up in a two point stance. Might be a better version of Geneo Grissom.

I guess it will now all depend on his 3 cone time :) Nice find, if other measureables work out he looks like a prototype Patriots pick..

One individual I'm very curious to see how he performs at either the Combine, or Florida's Pro Day is Jake McGee. TE
He's 6'6, 249, and looks like he might run in the 4.6 range.
He spent 2011-2013 playing for UVA. He transferred his senior year to Florida because he wanted to be utilized as a more complete tight end, and better his craft overall. His first play of the 14 season he broke a bone in his leg which forced him to miss the entire season. The NCAA granted him another year of eligibility so he played this year.
He appears to have very natural ball skills and seems to make lots of difficult catches. Its clear he has good speed for being as large as he is. I think he's a pretty decent blocker considering its what he considered his main weakness, thus him transferring to the Swamp.
I personally think his route running is his biggest weakness. Im curious to see what he does with the 3 cone. It should be a better indicator if his sub-par route running is because he has yet to refine it, or because he lacks that type of athleticism.

If you guys haven't already, I suggest you take a look.

RB - CJ Prosise - Notre Dame

Interesting prospect, but 2015 was his first year at RB (played WR and safety in years prior). Nevertheless, he looked pretty good in that 1 year (156 att - 1032 yards - 6.6 avg - 11 TDs).

He had 5 fumbles though. That + his inexperience might be a bit of a turn off.

Takes pride in his ability to block. Alert and physical, bringing his hips to punish rushers, rather than simply catching them. Former tight end with soft hands and enough body control to adjust to poorly thrown passes and keep his feet. Recruited as a tight end and also briefly switched to linebacker. He has shown the willingness to switch positions for the betterment of the team and is a proven commodity on special teams coverage, as well.

Watching Oklahoma games is frustrating. That scheme put so many of their playmakers in bad positions to succeed.
I like Tapper too, he has the athleticim to get after the QB. Oklahoma played him as a run stuffing DT and while I am not a Striker fan, the fact that he was caught taking on Olineman as much as he was is criminal. They needed to keep him clean and let him run.

Absolutely. Of course that might mean there's value to be had. I quite like Tapper taking on Sheard's role from this year if we don't re-sign/trade Jones and play Sheard in Jones' role. Or, as I've said, a better Grissom. As for Eric Striker, I'd absolutely take him on day three and use him as a linebacker and special teams stud. That guy intrigues me.

@manxman2601 Really coming around to Tapper.

In a way he sort of reminds me of this years Marcus Hardison

He was misused at Oklahoma. Played a four point two gap role but he's athletic enough to be more than that. I do think Easley's injury issues are enough that we need another to play that gap penetrating role that Easley does but that can just as easily play another role if Easley's healthy and you are right, like Hardison, Tapper can play at End of at the 3 tech on passing downs.

Great breakdown.

  • It's funny what you said about Carroo. Intellectually I found it hard to grade him much lower than Doctson or Boyd but man! I so so much prefer those two over Carroo.
  • I would love Shepherd, especially if they move Amendola on.
  • You are right about Spence. Alex Mcalister of Florida is another interesting one. Probably doesn't fit us because he's too slight to set an edge, but for someone of his length, he can get really low around the edge.
  • re cravens. It won't be him but I wouldn't rule out a smaller linebacker - BB has been toying with the idea of speed from his linebacker corps but has yet to commit. Think Matthew Wells, wesley Woodyard, Dekoda Watson. I have a bit of a hunch about Eric Striker if he falls to day three. He might not make it out of camp but I can see BB/Patricia looking for interesting ways to use him schematically.
If Matt Miller is right, LOVE the third and fourth round values. This depth is largely going to be about depth anyway so I'd actually be fine with trading back from 64, picking up as many picks as possible and then using camp and pre-season to see which of the many picks sticks. Heck, draft two WRs, two linebackers, two RBs and two CBs and judge which one is the best. Of course we'll need a RT too.
Liked Deion Jones in Senior Bowl.

We picked up vollmer in the second round, when he had a fifth round grade , because he was perfect for our zone blocking scheme,
Now in this draft, we have spriggs, who is also perfect for our zone blocking scheme, but cones with a second round grade. Should be a no brainier for bb....

But the guy that intrigues me the most as a second round ot, is Murphy of Stanford. He could be lights out in our offense. We must see how he looks at the combine.
Wasn't crazy about him in Senior Bowl
