How did they do? [NE free agents that signed elsewhere in 2015]

Now this isn't to say Shane Vareen isn't an excellent 3rd down back, but not a $5MM one....and not one I'd rather have than a healthy Lewis

That's just more bizarre, bewildering dishonest and dishonorable ******** by Vereen Haters.

01 ~ He isn't getting about $5,ooo,ooo.

02 ~ He's getting about $4,ooo,ooo.

03 ~ And if we'd extended'm a Year earlier, as I'd suggested, he'd probably've taken about $3,ooo,ooo.

Also...

04 ~ Only an Idiot would say that anyone ~ even Coach B ~ could've known what to expect out've Lewis.

05 ~ And it's not as if Vereen and Lewis were ever mutually exclusive, anyway.

06 ~ If anyone wants to pretend that Vereen wouldn't've made an huge Difference 6 days ago ~ when White was getting caught from behind ~ they're welcome to their Delusions.

I'm not even saying that failing to extend Vereen in 2014 ~ and again: none'f us, including me, thank you, know that we didn't try ~ was stupid: I've merely been saying that doing so would've been advisable.

I got no Problem with anyone who disagrees with that.

It continues to amuse me that so many of you pretend that anyone could've possibly had the faintest Clue what Lewis was going to do a Year ago when the Decision to let Vereen walk was made.

You can make an Argument either way whether or not letting Vereen go was a smart move. I feel strongly that we should've kept'm, myself, but if someone wants to say that they couldn't justify the Expense, they have a perfectly valid Argument and I'd be the last one to say otherwise.

But pretending that we had the faintest Clue, a Year ago, what Lewis would do, is silly.

And I believe that I'm putting that kindly. :)

I believed you could usually find an undersized RB/receiver, because of the law of supply and demand.

How did they do?

Last year a lot of us did some freaking out. You cant let this guy go!

You cant let that guy go

OMFG YOU CANT LET BOTH THOSE GUYS GO! SKY IS FALLLLLING

But its been another year, the patriots once again were on the doorstop of the superbowl,

So how did Those guys we let walk away do?

Big Vince:

16 games played 22 tackles, zero sacks

Right call to let him walk? Yes.

Darell Mevis

14 games played 39 tackles 9 passes knocked away, 5 ints

Right call to let him walk? at the contract he ended up signing for Yes. but can you imagine revis + butler as teh starting duo*swoon*

Brandon Browner:

Lol. Set the record for most penalties by a defensive player.

76 tackles, 10 pass defense 1 int.

Right call to let him walk? Yes.

Kyle Arrington:

28 tackles 3 pass defense, no ints

Right call to let him walk? hard to say

Stevan Ridley

8 games played averaging 2.5 yards per carry

Right call to let him walk? Yes.

Shane Vereen.

16 gp, 260 yards on the ground, 500 through the air 300+ kick return yards.

Right call to let him walk? No. Vereen had a solid year, and our RB depth could have really used him

Because you knew Dion Lewis, Blount and edelman would be injured? You would have played Vereen over Lewis? really?

I'll say, if they don't steal Hicks and Branch gets injured, that makes letting Vince go a mistake.

You can't judge these in hindsight, assuming psychic powers.

We still wouldn't have had a running game with Vereens "outstanding" 260 yards.

I believed you could usually find an undersized RB/receiver, because of the law of supply and demand.

We had a very explicit Agreement not to respond to each other's Posts, precipitated by your inability to lose without flying into a pathetic, dishonorable, and disgusting Temper Tantrum.

You disgraced and dishonored yourself, and annihilated any desire'f mine to treat with you.

I've been extremely gracious about that, considering your disgusting and pathetic Behavior.

And your characteristically dishonorable decision to break that Accord...does not tempt me to engage you.

And again I say to you: Bye.

And even if we didn't, they'd have simply game planned a bit differently. There were many games last year where Vereen made very little impact--actually, the majority of the games saw less than 3 catches if I recall correctly. Couple that with very little rushing, and you have a nice role player. We missed his production against the tough defensive fronts where he excelled, and he probably would've made a nice difference last week.

Either way you look at it, Shane Vereen was NOT going to get the same money that we gave Julian Edelman, nor should he have. The only real debate is whether or not they approached him the season before, as OTG has stated. It's a shame if there was missed opportunity to keep a nice role player for reasonable money, but we'll never know.

Sorry, @Off The Grid. I know that you feel strongly about this subject, so I'll bow out of the discussion as well.

No hard feelings, my friend. Nothing more than a slight difference of opinion on his overall worth, etc. I certainly agree that he'd have helped last week, and those tough defensive fronts (DET, SEA, MIA) were the games where he really shined nicely.

Thanks, Brother Fly: Your Credit's Good with me, as I'm sure mine is with you.

I've always said that I honor the Opinion of those who see it otherwise: it's ultimately a matter of whether'r not you feel the Expenditure justifies the Return, based on what we knew a Year ago or as I planned things: two Years ago ~ and I'd be the last guy to say that The Other Side doesn't have an Argument.

you do need me to link you to the websters definition of hindsight?

you do need me to link you to the websters definition of hindsight?

Hindsight is losing your outstanding RB/receiver and your two quick receivers [part or most of the season] and deciding you should have realized that was going to happen when you made off season plans.

If Edelman, Amendola and Lewis had played 16 games, how essential would Vereen have been?

I'm sorry, I didn't think you were afraid of basic football discussion.

I'll never respond to one of your posts again.

It feels like having Arrington this season would have been nice considering the poor depth at corner and how little money they saved by cutting him

We were right to let Vereen walk. He had a solid year but still not worth $4.5m per year. COME ON! You didn't mention Vereen's contract. He's being paid as a top 5 RB.

Wow! That's as much as Marcus Cannon gets!

Shane vereen
2015 16 games played 700+ total yards

Dion lewis
2015 7 games played 600+ yards.

Based just on that, I'd say Lewis had the better regular season.

Of course, a guy who gets IRed in the regular season doesn't play in the postseason at all ...

not very, which is why i waited till after the year to make the post, because we have hindsight to be able to go back and look at everything.

So your post only involves telling us which positions had injuries. OK by me.

I'm fine with Vareen leaving because he can't run. No more one-dimensional backs!

My post is saying looking at the results of the season, which players would have been nice to have.

If you are telling you would rather have lewis and white over lewis and vereen, that's a whole bigger issue, one you would need to bring up with a shrink.
