Lamar Miller for five mill? Guy definitely isn't worth that.

Rather Matt Forte. He is 30 so cheaper might be possible. Almost 1000 every season with a mediocre Bear O-line (like ours). 102 Catches in 2014 and 44 last season missing three games. At least he is a potential threat.

He is 6'2" and 218. Seems to be an excellent Team Mate.

Had an MCL sprain to lose a few games. No surgery to the best of my knowledge. The Bears would have listened to trades at the deadline last year. They have a good young RB in Langford ready with over 500 yds part time and 6 TDs in 2015.

I'm not calling for a low cost RB, i'm saying Ivory and Miller won't be anywhere close to reasonable options. I think they'll both get serious cash. I'm fine with them spending some money to upgrade, but i think both of those guys will have a bidding war on their hands from multiple teams.

You said " there is no way Lamar Miller will be a low cost option" so how else am I supposed to read that?

Low enough for the Pats standards. They simply don't place enough emphasis on RB to spend over a certain threshold.

Which are?

Well if you take a look at it historically, not much. Corey Dillon's base salary in 2004 and was $1.75 million with incentives that took it up to$3.3 million if all were hit. Similar in 2005. Granted this was 10 years ago, but he was one of the best backs of the era. They actually had him restructure his contract to take less money before they traded for him.

I can't see them paying more than $4mil base + incentives for a back, and that's on the high end. I think Ivory and Miller will both easily surpass that, hence my statements about them not being "low enough" for the Pats typical stingy standards at the position.

That was 12 years ago and Dillon was a top 5 RB at that time. I can't say with any authority what the Patriots will do but I do, know that every time someone claims they would never do something in the draft or free agency they pretty much blow that notion our of the water, and my understanding was that this thread was about what we want them to do and I want them to go get a good RB and 5 million is hardly too much to do that. I'm not talking pie in the sky crap about signing Adrian Peterson I'm simply talking about good RBs currently coming onto, the market. Any one of Forte, Ivory, Miller, or Anderson would be fine with me, and with Denver facing huge issues in free agency Anderson could definitely end up, on the open market.

I am still waiting for Denver's check to come due...no way you can keep THAT many high profile, talented players on both sides of the ball. Anybody know when they enter cap-hell?

Im willing to place a small wagger they're circumventing the salary cap. Come on now, this is John Elway were talking about. 97-98 Denver Broncos ring a bell?!? The biggest cheating scandal in NFL history. The only reason they have two superbowls. Dream team builders.
Screw the Cheating Broncos. I can't wait to watch them get smashed in the SB. Then they'll officially become the biggest losers in SB history.

Josh Gordon is one incident away from being suspended indefinitely. No way the Pats bring him in..

Its called low money guarantees, and incentive based contracts. Oh lets not forget, his contract is voided when, and if he gets suspend for a year. So basically theres zero risk from a salary standpoint.

Josh Gordon is not a bad person. Do some research on his lifestyle changes before you automatically continue to hate him. You do this with all kinds of players. What are you, a criminal prosecutor, or one of those cops that thinks going over the speed limit by 2mph means you're guilty and deserve a ticket? Thats what it seems like!

I like Forte...but lots on miles on that engine. That timing belt could go any day now...

Im really surprised more people aren't advocating O-linemen via FA. First off, its the deepest of all the FA portions, which should help with keeping the prices at reasonable figures. Second like me and @manxman2601 were talking about a little earlier, It's already very difficult to to find a Tackle or even guard, who is a rookie starter, with a high pick. Finding one at the end of the 2nd is basically just a dream. It doesn't help that this years draft isn't stacked with a lot of O line talent either.

If Brady has 3 season left, I say we pay up for OT for the next two seasons, and draft a replacement next season.

Heres a article highlighting some of PFF top graded O lineman did yesterday. Yeah, I know its PFF and their info can be skewed, but Oline ratings are one of their more accurate and true ratings.

With the offseason underway for all but the final two teams, we are beginning to look ahead to free agency. Emphasis on offensive line performance has grown the last few years, particularly in pass protection as the league continues to evolve into a pass-heavy league and college players continue to run spread-heavy offenses. We are taking into account more than just each player’s 2015 grade, but also previous seasons, age, skill-sets, among other aspects, to give you the top 10 free agent offensive linemen of 2016.

To see every 2016 free agent, be sure to check out PFF’s free agency tracker.

(Editor’s note: Each players’ overall season grade for only 2015 is noted next to his name; grades fall within PFF’s new 1–100 scale.)

1. Cordy Glenn, OT (85.0)
2015 team: Buffalo Bills

Cordy Glenn is not a name that gets mentioned when discussing the best offensive tackles in the game, but he has had four solid years as a starter and has been the only consistent Bills’ offensive linemen over that span. Outside of a poor performance in Buffalo’s season finale against the Jets, Glenn had the best season of his short career. He graded as the ninth-best tackle in the league, and seventh in pass protection, where he allowed just two sacks and two hits all season.

2. Kelechi Osemele, G/OT (79.6)
2015 team: Baltimore Ravens

In his first full and healthy season at guard in 2014, Osemele had a breakout year that put him among the best left guards in the league. His strength is in the run game, but that doesn’t diminish his success as a pass protector. Over the past two regular seasons, Osemele has had just two below average games as a pass blocker—one of which came while playing tackle—and he’s averaged fewer than one pressure allowed per game when at guard. And while Osemele is best-suited to play guard, he offers proven positional versatility that none of the other top offensive line free agents can provide by being capable of playing either tackle position if needed.

3. Kelvin Beachum, OT (79.4)
2015 team: Pittsburgh Steelers

If not for his torn ACL, Beachum might have been even higher on this list. The former seventh-round pick was the fifth-highest graded tackle in 2014. He allowed just 19 total pressures on 687 snaps in pass protection, and his pass blocking efficiency of 97.5 ranked third among tackles that season. He was a bit more up and down during his brief stint in 2015, but still earned a good pass-blocking grade and an average run-block grade. The ACL injury is a concern, but his upside when healthy is as good as any of the free agents, and he’s still just 27 years old.

4. Mitchell Schwartz, OT (86.6)
2015 team: Cleveland Browns

Schwartz may have been snubbed from Sunday’s Pro Bowl, but he played well enough to earn our second-team All-Pro spot at right tackle. Although he did allow 43 total pressures this season, he also was tied for the most snaps in pass protection with a whopping 705; by comparison, only 15 tackles had more than 600 pass-block snaps. Schwartz has earned a positive overall grade in all four seasons, and is coming off the best season of his career. In addition, Schwartz has not missed a single snap out of 4,427 over his four years in the league.

5. Donald Penn, OT (84.6)
2015 team: Oakland Raiders

Since signing with the Raiders two years ago, Donald Penn has continued to be a reliable left tackle. In fact, he has had a top-10 overall grade in each of the last two seasons, which were also two of his best three years in protection. He has earned a positive run block grade in every season of the PFF era (since 2007). In a league that has a dire need of good pass protectors, a veteran like Penn should be valued.

6. Richie Incognito, G (90.0)
2015 team: Buffalo Bills

Prior to Incognito’s suspension in 2013, he had earned positive grades in both run and pass blocking for six consecutive seasons. Despite being out of the league in 2014, he returned to the field and had the best season of his career. His +35.0 overall grade was second behind only Marshal Yanda among guards, and he played every offensive snap for the first time in his career. At 33 years old, Incognito is probably not a long-term solution at this point, but he could still help shore up the interior offensive line for many teams.

7. Evan Mathis, G (89.6)
2015 team: Denver Broncos

Mathis is not the elite player he was a couple years ago, but even with a new team and injuries to start the season, he once again earned the highest run-blocking grade among guards. He arguably had his worst season in pass protection, but he still allowed just 19 pressures during the regular season and ranked 19th out of 82 guards in pass-blocking efficiency. Despite being the oldest player on this list, Mathis could be a great option for a team looking for a short-term solution in a heavy zone-blocking run scheme.

8. Ryan Schraeder, OT (87.0)
2015 team: Atlanta Falcons

Schraeder got significant playing time for Atlanta in 2014, and as much as the offensive line struggled to stay healthy, he showed some promise at right tackle, particularly as a pass blocker. He built upon that success this season to finish with the second-highest overall grade at right tackle after Schwartz. He had just two negatively-graded games in pass protection, with one coming against Houston, where he surrendered (only) one sack and two hurries to J.J. Watt. His 97.2 pass-blocking efficiency this season was second among tackles only to perennial All-Pro Joe Thomas. One downside for teams courting Schraeder is that he is the lone restricted free agent among the top offensive linemen, so it may take more to pry him away from Atlanta than most of the other options.

9. Brandon Brooks, G (66.7)
2015 team: Houston Texans

Brooks’ performance slipped a bit this year, but prior to it, he was a top-10 guard in his first two seasons as a starter. He has done well in a zone-blocking scheme in Houston, and had the fifth and third-best run block grades in 2014 and 2013, respectively. Brooks has allowed three sacks in as many years as a starter, and is coming off his best season in pass protection, with a +8.3 cumulative pass blocking grade. Brooks would be a good option for a team looking for a younger guard that could be a long term option, particularly one running a lot of outside zone, but does not want to shell out as much money that Osemele is likely to command on the open market.

10. Stefen Wisniewski, C (72.5)
2015 team: Jacksonville Jaguars

Wisniewski is going to hit free agency for the second year in a row after signing a one-year contract with the Jaguars last spring. He performed better than his last season in Oakland, but this year was still a bit below his best years in 2012 and 2013. Pass protection is his strength, and he’s graded positively in four of his five seasons as a pro. Wisniewski is not an elite center, but he is one of just 13 centers who had an above-average overall grade in 2015 out of 40 qualifying players. Wisniewski has also been extremely reliable throughout his career, missing just 19 snaps over five years.

That was 12 years ago and Dillon was a top 5 RB at that time. I'd love to any other those backs in here, just think Miller and Ivory will get big contracts. Forte I think would be a decent stop-gap option for a year or two, but as we all know, he has a ton of tread on those tires.

Anderson is really interesting...he's a RFA, so i'm curious what Denver will do. I can't imagine them tendering him any lower than a 2nd, and maybe even a 1st. If they tender him at the 2nd round level, do the Pats make an offer?

Another player Id love to have, but I don't have much gauge on his value, or weather hell actually hit Free agency, is Ladarius Green. He would be such a big upgrade over chandler. However with Gates being 35 and having a 8 million dollar cap hit, and the fact that Green stepped in well for gates earlier in the season, makes it more likely that Gates will be the free agent. They could also use the Franchise tag on him.

He's really good on those seem routes. Hopefully he could take away from some of Gronks production in that area of the field. The area and route I cringe every time I see Gronk run.

Would love to see what Ladarius Green could do as a fulltime player. He's such a freak athlete and has been criminally underutilized in SD. Only problem is he has had MANY concussions in the last 2 years, and i think at least 2 or 3 this past year alone.

WR: Percy Harvin, Marvin Jones, Anquan Boldin. Long shot: Alshon Jeffery

TE: Ladarius Green

OL: Alex Mack

DL: Nick Fairley, Da'Quan Bowers

DE/OLB: Olivier Vernon, Aldon Smith, Courtney Upshaw, Andre Branch, Nick Perry, Bruce Irvin

CB: Janoris Jenkins, Sean Smith, Patrick Robinson, Brandon Boykin

S: Eric Berry

RFA: Christine Michael (RB)

My top targets on offense are Harvin, Boldin, and Christine Michael.

I've wanted Percy Harvin since that 2009 Draft when Minnesota took him right before us. Think that guy would do wonders in this offense because he's so good over the middle of the field and can also get vertical. Can probably get him on a cheap one year deal to his injury/character history. I'd love to add him and Anquan Boldin with Gronk and Edelman.

I want a young RB. No more scrap heap cast offs like Steven Jackson, Sammy Morris, Fred Taylor, Lamont Jordan. No more undrafted long shots like Jonas Gray, Green Ellis, Bolden, Blount. I want young physical between the tackles workhorse who forces teams to respect play action. A guy like Christine Michael or a guy in the draft like Ezekiel Elliot or Tra Carson or Jordan Howard.

On defense, I'd love to get my hands on Courtney Upshaw. Tough physical Versatile depth/heir apparent for Ninkovich. Great run defender and edge setter. Played for Saban. Classic Belichick type of guy.

I'd like to take a chance on Fairley and see what he could do here. So much raw talent.

Also think we could use another corner. I like Boykin in the slot, Jenkins or Sean Smith as good man corners on the outside depending on their price range.

I think they need to spend money at RB this year.
Just read that if the Jesters don't reach an extension with Chris Ivory by March 9th that he becomes an UFA. Thoughts? WE need a RB and we could screw those pricks over for once on one of their own.

Go talk out your arse on someone else's time. You don't know jack about me. And you know even less about Josh Gordon.

Josh Gordon isn't a bad person? REALLY? He only drinks and drives, putting numerous innocent people's lives at risk.. Not only that, he's a habitual offender.

3 times in 3 years he's violated the NFL Drug Policy.. The only reason he's not banned indefinitely is because they changed the 2nd one from a 1 year to 10 game suspension.

Furthermore, Gordon isn't a free agent. He's still property of the Browns..

Until Gordon proves that he's no longer stupid, let him prove it with another team..
