How long does it take you to get past a big loss

Given I'm not a player or a coach and I don't feel the need to live vicariously through the Patriots' wins and losses, not too long. The only one that gripes me is 42 because that team, when healthy, was the best team the NFL will ever see. Going down in infamy as they did isn't just reward for the season they produced.

Last years sb helps alot, i mainly wanted to see them end that 10 year drought. From 2007-2012 it really bothered me awhile. This year not so much. Id really like one more but i think we have at least 3-4 more great shots at it so i wont really stress till that window is closing.

Its not so bad as long as you avoid social media and sports shows for a few days. Well be right back here next year barring a tb12 injury.

im over it. i was over it days ago. you have to be realistic. its extremely hard to go back to back. most teams with a sh!t load of injuries do what the ravens did. implode.

I am close now.

I can't imagine how bad it would be if we didn't have Butler. All time high. But luckily...that happened ;)

This still bothers me

Some I'm able to get over relatively quickly, like the past 2 losses @DEN. I suppose it depends on the level of expectations that one personally had, and although I can't compare this year to 2013, I had a hard time seeing them win it all this year. Perhaps that helps get over a loss? I'm still salty as hell, but I'm getting there.

Others, not so much. Obviously the 2 SB losses and the '06 AFCCG are the worst, but the 2012 AFCCG loss to BAL at home took me awhile too.

Pretty much that evening and no later than by the next morning.. I do not live and die Patriots like I see many fans who post here and elsewhere. It is a game, I root for my team. When they win, I am happy, when they lose, it's a bummer. Life goes on and I know there will be many more games to root for the team. I may rehash a game afterwards, but, that not not mean I am not over the loss.

I still have a picture of David tyree plastered to a punching bag and go 8 rounds a day.

Last summer - I had a brief health scare. I had these excruciating abdominal pains, and being

quite the pessimist I feared the worst. I finally brought myself to the ER after 3 days of researching google

symptoms, and thinking I was heading to the cemetary at the age of 35. Turns out, I had a large gallstone,

other than that - I was in extremely good health. This, coupled with the win #4 and I take this stuff in

stride. They'll be even better next year, and I expect #5 in the coming years. Health and happiness,

that's where it's at. I have the former, and I'm working on the latter. Be well, guys.

Depends on how the Patriots lose. I don't think I got over 18-1 until 2011. I still woke up some days not believing that they blew it. 2010 also took me a while to get over. 2011 was alright because we knocked the Ravens out in the AFCCG and that gave me plenty of joy. 2012 and 2013 were relatively easy to get over because I had low expectations. 2015 sucked for about 6 hours before I was over it. As someone mentioned, it's a lot easier to take the loss when the other team just dominated and there were no outside factors. The regular season game felt like it was stolen from us, this one just felt like Denver had the better team that day

I agree... of ALL the plays we have witnessed as Pats fans, this play, plus the failure of the referee to call obvious holding against the Giants' o-line on this play, hurt the most. An undefeated season lost to a 10 - 6 team!!!
The almost-hail mary to Moss upsets me more than the helmet catch

That picture alone set me 2 weeks back in my recovery process when i saw it about a week after the SB.

I remember the girl that i was talking to at the time...was my first semester at college during SB 42...and goes "don't worry..it's just a game" Didn't respond to that txt for a loooong time

I'm still not over 2007. Never will be. That was my 86 World Series.

To this day I find myself randomly reliving that nightmare. That game I will carry in my mind for the rest of my life. And Mike Carey's ineptness of not blowing the whistle after the Pierre Woods fumble recovery. Mike Carey stole history from us. And to hear that ass continuing to give wrong play review analysis game after game makes me wonder how and who even hired him for that role.

I wholeheartedly agree about the Woods fumble recovery. I just watched the lowlight 30 minute shows on SB 42 and SB 46. The Woods fumble recovery still gets me steamed. He had clear possession and the second Bradshaw touched him, the whistle should have blown the play dead. Instead, the crew stood around and allowed Bradshaw to roll Woods over and rip the ball away from him. Completely inept ref crew on that play.

I shouldn't have tortured myself today watching the SB replays of 42 and 46. Like TinhWoodhead stated, the failed Hail Mary to Moss on 3rd down in the closing seconds came within a whisker of being an 84 or 86 yard (I forget the exact yardage) game winning play. Then I watched the Hail Mary in SB 46 and doubled over in pain when I relived how close a hobbled Gronk came to catching the deflection in the end zone. Between the two games, I still replay SB 42 in my head much more than SB 46.
