Matt Light says AFC championship game was lost because of snap count. Calls it "an abomination."

Coaches taking a beating after this one, and now from a former player. Difficult to believe that BB was unaware of crowd noise in Denver and failed to arrange snap count contingencies. If true, however, we were doomed from the start.

Intereseting graphic. Many years ago I believe Raymond Berry had the team practice with jet engines on the field in order to prepare the team for a match-up with Seattle at the old King Dome - a game the Patriots won 20-13

I kept wondering how in hell a team can cut through our line like that like butter. You almost never see that happen in any game. It happened against the Giants in SB and I even remember the Packers Super Bowl they were rushing three and killing us. I was hoping our D line would look like that because we got guys who can rush the passer but we never seem to play like that or even give much pressure.

In a weird and twisted way, it kinda is better to lose the CCG ....

We could hang an AFC Finalist banner lol

I get what you're saying, I think emotionally its easier to deal with losing a CCG.. but winning one gets you the Lamar Hunt trophy and a ring.. not as good as a SB ring, but still some accolades. but yea, going to the SB and losing it is even worse because of the 2 weeks of mega hype, plus everyone and their mom who wouldnt even normally watch football watch that game and you have to hear about it for weeks from everyone you meet about how you lost

I think we'll be back in it next year, this year was just a total anomaly as far as injuries go

Thanks for posting this CEO.

I hope it was a communication issue , which sounds like it could be fixed in house, and not a major personnel issue that would require signing two or three FA's.

Yea and it's the a-holes that say..."Well BB and Brady have lost 3 Super Bowls y'know...."

Ouch. Need to keep reminding myself that it is better to lose an AFCCG than a SB...if only I really believed it.
Lose the SB and no hope the next season.
Lose a CG and ???
So there is a difference.

The season was lost when we lost HFA.

Agreed, but I think a more accurate way to word it is to say the season was lost the second we decided to give HFA to denver. Saying we lost it to me sounds like we fought for it and just couldn't get it. Nah, we straight gave it away. We deserved to lose for that reason alone. This season is on the coaches as far as I'm concerned. This team was the best team in the AFC and had HFA won, and the coach decided not to take it. Result, loss in denver in the AFCC.

Denver winning or even losing a close game would be so ****ing painful. May very well have tossed a Lombardi out the window. Game shouldn't have even been in Denver...I still can't believe the Broncos are in the SB.

The Pats would blow Denver if this game was in Foxboro.

Agreed. I thought I finally calmed down after the loss and then I read something like this......that just fuels the anger that we let the #1 seed slip away. We had injuries yes, but we still could have mustered up one more win in our 2-4 finish(especially in the games in which we had a 14-0 lead).

This article makes you think about all the lost opportunities.....

1.) If harper doesnt' muff the punt in denver
2.) if the ref doesn't flag chung at the end of the game in denver
3.) if we actually tried to beat a team in miami that was looking ahead to their golf season
4.) if we didn't have serious mental lapses at home against hte eagles

pro's of losing the championship game: Super Bowl highlights get shown every year. When you lose those highlights (or lowlights) will resurface annually.

con's of losing the championship game: obviously no chance to win the super bowl. In this year's case the worst part is Brady falling to 6-4 overall in championship games with THREE of those losses from Peyton Manning (YUCK!)

This is on McDaniels too he should have been ALL over it not leave it to OL coach only. Brady too ya think would have said something..."ummm guys what's the plan here?"

It's disgusting how we've gone 0-5 against the Mannings in the playoffs since 2005. In at least 3 cases the Mannings ultimately raised the Lombardi Trophy.
Who cares. Peyton is a cheating, washed up Willie Mays and Eli plays for ****ty teams who refuses to leave a dime on the table for more talent to help the team and who threw his coach under the bus.

Yeah yeah it really looked like the offensive line was on its heels the whole game, and that Denver's defense was razor thin close to being offside on every damn play... In fact, I thought sure they WERE offside in one of those crucial 4th down plays in the closing minutes. This onslaught was just another reason I wanted that first 3, because i thought making a 2 for a tie seemed like 90% unlikely esp in the 12 yard space that the 2 pointer offers you. In other words, I thought that 9 points was far more likely than 8 points and that a win was far superior to a tie (how many more HITS could TB take)

You would think that they would have gone over the silent snap count in practice, after all they knew they were going to need it. And when they couldn't get it right do something about it. BB is know for having the sound system cranked up at practice while going over the silent snap count, i don't understand how this could happen.
