LB Coach Patrick Graham Leaving

What would his incentive be to leave? It's not like LB coach to DL coach is an upgrade, is it?

Prediction: Mayo retires (after 3 straight injuries that needed surgery) and becomes the LB coach

I started thinking more about that yesterday. If he still wants to play I don't think getting a two year deal with him will be that hard, however he may have had enough when b he has to have another pec surgery. I also think Mayo is going to coach but he will take a couple of years off first.

belichick isnt messing around

he holds everyone accountable, if you don't like it, then GTFO out of NE

If you watch "Do your job" ,he regards his coaches highly. Dont think one loss in the AFCCG is behind this, as much as we want to think so.Especially a defensive coach.

While I appreciate the idea what makes anyone think that a player can just transition into coaching one of the elite teams of the NFL with no previous experience whatsoever ? I understand that Mayo is a great player and has a lot of insight, but giving him a LB coaching job on the Patriots you are not throwing someone who has not shown yet that he can swim into a swimming pool but into an ocean.

This seems very surprising, especially because he is leaving for a linear position.

True, but he might have an easier ladder to climb at the Giants than here. We all assume that Patricia wants to be a headcoach somewhere but what if he actually is absolutely fine with the job he has and shows no real desire to move on ?

Perhaps it is as simple as building his NFL resume..

Do not see any links to Spagnola or McAdoo...

This one surprised me. He was behind Patricia as DC in waiting. He coached two budding ProBowlers. He was clearly well respected and thought of highly here.

Sometimes it's a simple as money. Maybe he wanted a raise and Pats said no?

What's to say we can't hire him back when Patricia does leave

Surprising, on the face of it. Was his contract up? If not, the Patriots would have had to give permission for a lateral move, no? And linebacker is one area where the team should be happy with the players' performance. Is there something personal (him wanting to move to NYC)?
