OT: Cam Newton & the race card

tl;dr: You like the black guy that acts like a white guy but not the black guy that acts like a black guy

I like the humble competitor who acts as such and don't like the guy who acts like an ass. Gastineau as white as bread. Race has zero to do with this.

FWIW, I wouldn't mind seeing Kuechly, Olsen, and Allen get a ring. Got zero problems with these three guys.
Hmmm...and the common denominator there is???? Right, all Panthers!!!:) Just funnin' ya!

I must be having deja vu. I recall similar race bs years ago when McNabb, Vick, and Culpepper were big time QBs.

Give me a break. The entire culture of the NFL - even America in general is about self promotion and trash talk. What Newton does is pretty tame.

And that's a valid opinion that I disagree with. However for Newton to say that people who are critical of him because of his antics are being racially motivated is BS.

For those who remember punter Reggie Roby he kicked absolute ass.

And yet I don't see any blacks whining about not having more black punters/kickers.... they only like to chase high profile positions...

Cam is an enormously gifted athlete who has become an outstanding QB. He celebrates after he makes great plays. Good for him.

Sorry - I just don't see the problem here.
If you don't like his celebrations, then it's simple, stop him. You typically don't get disrespected when you win.

Some people absolutely are. Hell, I know some who admit it. Not to get political because I do see both sides of most issues, but to suggest that there aren't loads of people in the US who dislike him because of his race is naive. Millions don't care, but loads of others do. I believe there's far less of that nonsense these days than there was even 5-10 years ago, but it's still around.

Never have been and currently not a fan of Cam Newton. If he puts on a clinic in the SB and totally embarrasses the Broncos, then I will become a little bit of a fan.

I dislike Newton because I think he is smug, fake, and got paid to go to Auburn and got off without penalty.
I dislike Russel Wilson because his repeated references to religion (because God only likes the SeaHawks)
I dislike Mike Vick because I value life (both human and animal).
You know who I dislike the most?
Peyton Manning.

Does that make me a racist?
How can you be annoyed he got paid? I'd take the money in a heartbeat and not think twice. I'm sure Auburn made tons of money off him.

Hey. I'm a 1st generation French Canadian American and I am outraged at the lack of high profile FCAs in professional sports.

Do people expect us to be satisfied with hanging sheetrock, trap animals for fur and eat pork pies for the next 300 years?

I'm tired of being kept down.

Perhaps not all, but I am sure there are quite a few who simply can't stand him primarily due to his race.

Sure there will always be some but at what percentage can we put it to bed as an issue? There's a black president on his second term and yet he too has used the race card. People are just people to me and I believe I'm in the vast majority. Doug Williams won a SB nearly 30 years ago.
