How long does it take you to get past a big loss

Brady would say that the answer is "never". Do you think that Brady is over the Super Bowl loss after the 2007 season.

Belichick would say that he is over it soon after the game ends. Belichick is on the off season and is focusing on the Senior Bowl and contract decisions that need to be made.

Took me 1 month after the 2007 disappointing ending.

From 2006 to when we won the super bowl last year the losses hurt a lot more for me. Knowing Brady's window was closing and having to continue to hear we haven't won since stupid spygate. With obviously 2007 being the worst, don't think I will ever be over that. I still look away when they play high lights and I no longer like Tom Petty. That one just sticks with you. I was actually depressed there for like a month I think lol.

But coming off the SB win and with all the injuries, I was over it Monday morning. Losing to the forehead was the worst of it, but they will be back strong again next year. Can't wait!!

if the broncos lose in the SB, then i'll feel much better.

same thing happened in 2013, i was so pissed that we lost in the title game. then denver got destroyed and i was thrilled. by far my favorite non patriot game watching manning lose by 6 td's. lets all hope history repeats itself!!:D

still havent gotten over 2007, just cringe when i see samuel drop the clinching INT, follow that with the tyree catch.:eek:

2007 was the worst and I honestly think it left a scar that will be there until I die. I remember waking up at nights for weeks and logging on here to find others going through the same thing.
It's pretty stupid really, considering how separated we fans are from the teams that actually play the game but I learned while we may not be spending the physical energy, our thoughts and emotions are pent up and going crazy
This loss has nothing NOTHING on a Super Bowl loss. Looking at the way our season was going with all the injuries, we're fortunate to have made it to the AFCCG. And while I have a lot of faith in our team, I wouldn't have felt very confident facing a hot Carolina team in the SB.

Let me just say this, if we had lost to Brock instead of Manning I would care a lot less.

yea..now all espn/nfln show is that manning is 3-1 in title games against brady. they basically ignore all of his other flaws/choke jobs in the playoffs.

if carolina wins, hgh falls to 1-4 and the one win was against rex grossman.

I'll let you know when it happens. J/K.

I think a lot of it depends what is going on with your life and how busy you are. I thought this year was going to be particularly bad because I just got laid off last Tuesday. Having that happen kinda ruined the whole week for me and then the game was tortuous to watch and well it just sucked. A ****ty ending to a ****ty week.

But I have a 6 year old son now that I didn't have back in 2007 and it's hard to be depressed around him. After the end of the game I yelled a little and walked around a little bit and I came back in the living room and my son was inside the little blanket fort he made while watching the game. He had a sad look on his face but I realized it was because he felt bad for me more than anything. I decided that maybe I should set a good example for him that in the big scheme of things sports aren't really that important. So we went outside and shot some hoops and we both felt a lot better. He gave me a hug and told me it's ok Dad, at least we won last year.

Sometimes I wonder who's the mature one LOL.

In other news if anyone knows of a company looking for a Salesforce Admin either in the Tampa area or remote let me know!

So sorry that you have been laid off

Because I thought this was a team of destiny, destiny being to take the Lombardi from Goodell's imbecile ginger hands, this will sting for a long time. In fact, the Patriots handing it to the NYJFL is the only part of the entire league that even interests me anymore, I'm so done with it.

I'll take a bit of solace in the fact that while the league is happy to see them lose in the AFCCG, you know they are still pissed that they got there once again.

2007 set the bar for "big loss" so high... in order to live with that one I've pulled back some. I enjoy the wins, love the team, re-arrange my life to watch every game, but I just can't get that upset over a loss, because it doesn't get close to a "big loss".

Depends on the game. In 2007/11 it was a long time because I felt we should have won both games and we came so close. Same with the Jets game in 2010.

This year, I'm over it already because I knew we were a flawed team that didn't particularly deserve to win, and we would have had a tough time in the SB. Also, we won the Super Bowl last year which helps. In previous years I began to think if we would ever win it again. Fate seemed against us.

It depends on how long it takes for me to have sex

Could take a while

I'm usually over it fairly quickly, especially because I also love hockey, so I just shift my sports attention there. This year takes a little while longer, because it was Manning, so I have to avoid sports talk for a few weeks while he gets audibly felated. If he wins the Super Bowl, it will extend further...

But once that part is over, I'm pretty much good. Only exception was 2007. I won't be over that ever, unless by some miracle we actually pull off a 19-0 season before Brady/Belichick retire. That was a feat that would have transcended everything else.

Same here. I get over the losses pretty quickly now. As much as I love watching football, there is always some relief when the season ends whether it ends in a win or loss. I spend 5 months of the year rooting for the Patriots and need to focus on other things when the season is over. This year we are renovating the kitchen after 30 years of marriage so that will keep me busy.

It used to take me a long time. In this case, although I still felt a little hurt when thinking about the game, I was relatively happy and fulfilled the next day.

As many humans do, I used to try to drown my disappointment and sadness with anger, looking for someone or something to point a finger at. Anger poisons other emotions, and although it buries them, protecting you from the full, immediate experience of the pain, is prolongs them by obstructing a resolution and causes significant damage over time. I have learned that when such painful emotions are experienced without anger, they lead to acceptance, resolution and internal change. Sure, it hurts, but you learn, move on and develop a more complete, authentic appreciation of the significance and implications of the event.

Usually a day or so, my Mom passed on Jan 4th, 2o14 (no pity please) and I held her hand as she took her last few breaths. When that happens you re-evaluate your priorities pretty damn fast.

Been over it since Sunday night.

Winning the SB last year helps a lot. If Pats didn't win the SB last year wouldn't be over it for at least a week.

If you want to see a guy who is in rough shape go check out El Pres' blogs and twitter. Said he threw up in his sleep last night because he was having nightmares of the videos and screenshots of Gronk being open on the 2 point conversion.

If Portnoy goes all Jimi Hendrix it won't be because of recurring Patriot nightmares.

I was over this one in about an hour. I can no longer get myself very upset about sports losses. On the other hand I'm still gloating over SB 49. F.cking hypocrite I know, but it works much better this way.

* If I were a fan of another team, like say the Jets, Bills, or Fish then it would be different and I would rue losing the one shot at a Super Bowl in my lifetime much more than the Patriots losing, but that's probably because the Paytriots are in the AFCCG 2 out of every 3 years, not once every generation.
