#1 Target in the Free Agency [2016 Sign the Beast thread #006]

Yes I have been saying this for a few. He is actually bigger than Edleman He had 16 targets in the game. He was not used at the beginning of the season and still wound up with 4o receptions and 4 TDs. Obviously TB has trust in him. With Lewis back hopefully, he could save a roster spot with two positions. Amendola is 30 and White is 23. White is 5'10" and 205lbs. Danny 5'11" and 190lbs. Danny has a big CAP number.I love Danny as a tough little player but he has been dinged his time here too and missed games.
Have White learn the whole passing tree this off season.

I just hope we don't lose KayWay Adams if DA is done here.

If we had 2014 Lafell then we'd be set with offensive options aside from running back. But we don't and I doubt he'll ever be back. So we need a WR at least as good as he was.

I'd like to see the Pats pick up a vet RB in free agency. Chris Ivory was mentioned above. Another, lower cost option might be Lamar Miller from the Phins. He has run well against the Pats and BB has had good luck signing free agents from within the division. Wes Welker is the best example of this. With Ivory/Miller and a rookie (maybe Alex Collins or CJ Prosise), the running attack may become viable again. Also, Tyler Gaffney will (hopefully) be coming off IR.

No way around not getting at least an upper echelon potential WR like a Sanu. You can't count on the Pats drafting a WR with talent. Not in their DNA. Fleener might be another guy that can be the AH role player that worked well.
Anyone for a BB reclamation project? Justin Blackmon? Gordon (trade)?

Chris Given has speed and size. He is know by McDaniels.

Blackmon? He's on an indefinite ban for violations of the NFL's Drug Policy.. He's unlikely to have that ban lifted.

Josh Gordon has to face the commissioner and ask for reinstatement..He's one strike away from an indefinite ban.

Not likely that BB will take a chance on either of them..

It's unlikely that Miller is a "low cost" option with how he played this year..

The Pats have Lewis, White, Gaffney and Bolden currently. Yes, they are likely to sign a veteran to a low deal, but Miller and Ivory won't be those players.. They also have Iosefa and Develin at FB. The Pats could also have Montee Ball if they give him a future's deal. The Pats, typically, only designate 5 spots on the roster to RB/FB positions.. Figure that Lewis, White, Bolden and 1 of Iosefa/Develin are guaranteed. That leaves just one spot for either a vet or a free agent.

An all purpose RB would suit this Offense give me Matt Forte.

If the money is right, then Forte is a perfect fit for the system. If not, then I also like Ivory, although he is constantly banged up. Resigning Blount and/or bringing back Ridley and pairing one/both with a mid round draft pick is another option I would not be surprised to see.

I am still waiting for Denver's check to come due...no way you can keep THAT many high profile, talented players on both sides of the ball. Anybody know when they enter cap-hell?

Manning will come off the book for them next season

That's a hefty bag of cash they are gonna have to use on this list of free agents. In particularly on Jackson, Miller and Osweiler coming of rookie deals.

Denver Broncos

Omar Bolden, S
David Bruton, S
Andre Caldwell, WR
Vernon Davis, TE
Ryan Harris, OT
Ronnie Hillman, RB
Malik Jackson, DE
Shiloh Keo, S
Evan Mathis, G
Von Miller, OLB
Jordan Norwood, WR
Brock Osweiler, QB
Tyler Polumbus, OT
Antonio Smith, DE
Danny Trevathan, ILB
Kyle Williams, WR

Ridley has a Jet tattoo, **** him.

He could always get it removed.

If they ditch Manning and front load extensions for Miller and Oseweiler then they can still make things work this year, although don't be surprised if they use the cap to rationalize cutting Demarcus Ware when really it's just because they would rather have the $10 million in savings.

I hear that sentiment a lot about the system being too complicated for a lot WR's. So this isn't to pick on you just my thought. If their system is so hard to learn why do they keep trying to pick up "projects' or guys who've failed elsewhere to somehow learn this hard system? I would think that if the system is that complicated I would rather put my trust into a star who plays the position at a high level like Moss then reclamation projects who couldn't make it in a easier system.

I would think the argument might be that some of these guys weren't great elsewhere because they weren't overwhelmingly physically gifted, but they could do better in the right system. Smarter guys aren't necessarily the most gifted--keep in mind that Edelman himself was once the epitome of a project.

1. Cut cannon
2. Extend both Hightower and Collins
3. Extend sheard
4. Sign RT Mitchell Schwartz
5. Sign WR Marvin Jones
6. Target running back, linebacker, and developmental offensive line prospects in the draft.

What is everybody suggesting Schwartz planning to do with him? Are we also cutting Vollmer?

I wonder how Schwartz would do on the inside. Aside from that may he simply be better than Vollmer right now? Vollmer's on the wrong side of 30 and has been injured quite a bit of late, having another starting caliber Tackle might not be such a bad investment to make.

I'm sure he'd be plenty capable, but if other teams are offering him high end RT money then I wouldn't want to be paying him the same to be a guard. The Browns are supposedly all-in on analytics, and supposedly the analytics sites are promoting the importance of right tackles, so it wouldn't surprise me to see him get paid very, very well.

I think at this stage in their careers Schwartz is far better than both cannon and vollmer. I would start Schwartz and restructure or cut vollmer. Vollmer is an injury prone 32 year old right tackle.

Right tackles aren't nearly as expensive as LT. Top of the market RT is approx 6.5 a year. Patriots could afford this by cutting cannon and either restructuring vollmer or cutting mayo.

They can save over 3 million by cutting Cannon, but then again I'd cut Cannon if it saved them a half-eaten Snickers bar and a roll of toilet paper.
