Brady is going to be 39 next year, he can't continue to carry this offense. He needs help, he needs more playmakers to bail him out when he doesn't throw a perfect game in my opinion. Gronkowski is the best weapon in the NFL, but he is only one weapon and he's injury prone. Gronk needs help.

I would love to take the 9 million were paying amendola and Lafell combined and pay it to an Alshon Jeffrey type

Jeffrey would be the perfect type a wide receiver who can bail out a 39 year old Brady when he doesn't always make a perfect throw

We need a Moss type of signing this offseason once the o lone issues are taking care of

I doubt Belichick strays much from his "value" pickups at the position of WR. People keep bringing up the fact that we brought in Randy Moss, but that was on the cheap for a 4th round draft pick. HUGE difference between giving a guy like Alshon Jeffrey 13m dollars a year on a long term deal. I highly doubt that would happen. Hell, Belichick had to convince Moss to stay here on a cheaper, below market value deal the year after he set records with a 23 touchdown performance and almost led us to a perfect season, and he had proven himself capable of excelling in our complicated system!

That right there, should tell you all you need to know about the possibilities of bringing in a big name, expensive WR.

I think the patriots should focus on the oline before they focus on the wide receivers.

Before Dion Washington and the oline was decimated, we had a kickass offense..

Then we turned into the walking wounded, not sure changes are necessary..

Do not see big signings due to oline issues and Collins, Hightower and Jones all ready to get "paid"...

We definitely need two WRs. I think we need more speed/size on the outside. Big plays outside the numbers were virtually non-existent. I think most of our big plays down the sideline went to RBs.

I also think we need to draft a young backup slot guy to takeover from Edelman in a year or two. He's 30 now and has always had a few injuries.

I still say if you go back and watch the early games, the O-line was terrible. Dion and Blount made them look better than they were.

The offense was kickass even with that O line.. the guys up front got progressively worse, and looked better with more O weapons..

Definitely

I would hope so. We were down to Gronk and Edelman as above average guys.

On the upside, Amendola is decent and LaFell may have been hurt and not his real self so they could help next year. And I guess Dobson or Boyce (he's still around) could develop but you know.

On the downside, Amendola will need to redo his deal to stay and LaFell is entering the last year of his contract.

And the unthinkable, Edelman has taken a lot of his and could see the end faster than we would like to admit. Same for Gronk but I think we're good with him for longer.

We've got a ton of young talent on defense, not so much on offense. We really need these young OL to develop so we can draft the badly needed big RB to go with Lewis, multiple WR and a viable backup TE with upside.

This!
(Dion Lewis - Fixed)
We go into Playoffs with DL & our OL healthy, MUCH different outcome.

God I hope so. They need a WR who can make plays down the field. Got the smurfs for the short game, got the horse at TE who can get down the field but they need a LEGIT WR to can go down the field, who can tightrope the sideline, who can catch the tough throw, etc. It is maddening how the Patriots have been unable to find a stud WR to learn and grow throughout these Brady years.
Maddening!!!!!!
Needs - OL, WR, CB, LB (Mayo better be gone) and if they can find another horse TE go for it.

Yes, how many times did they try to go deep with LeFell this year. Should tell you everything you need to know. Also they have been looking at WR's in the draft the last few years and how many different WR's have they had on the practice squad.

I liked Coates from Auburn and he would have been a good pick-up in the 3rd round. Steelers got a steal.

It really depends on what happens with the cast we have on now..

-Are we going to give Dobson another audition?
-Is Lafell going to be around?
-Does Amendola become a cap casualty?

I love Edelman and he has sacrificed his body for this team over and over. He is not going to last much longer if we continue to rely on him to do the things he does week in and out.

I would hope some serious consideration is given to getting the offense a WR who can contribute and has future upside. Of course I'd love an Alshon Jeffery but he's going to be too expensive and I don't think Chicago lets him walk so easily...someone of that mold tho would be great. Sure hands, physically imposing his will and isn't named Gronk, because well we already have him

I can see letting LaFell go but redoing Amendola's deal is a priority imo. He's tough as nails, really clutch, and wants to be here. The slot receiver is the most important weapon in the Patriots offense and they need as much redundancy as they can get at the position. Amendola took a big paycut last off-season, deservedly so, but he's a really important piece and I think they can work out a deal to keep him here. And even though they play different roles I think there is a good chance both LaFell and Dobson won't be on next season's team and letting 2 of his top 4 receivers and Dobson go would be turn receiver from strength to a serious weakness and turning from need to priority.

Yeah that Dion Washington guy was something else.

Dion Lewis doesn't fix the problem we have on the o-line though. We got by in the first 10 games because none of those teams (except the Jets) had a strong pass rush.

There will definitely be a new WR or two next year....not usually a good idea to stand pat with things that weren't really terrific.

--With so much focus on Edelman and Gronk, Lafell not getting a single target this week speaks volumes.

--I'm over Dobson. I guess he'll come to camp, but I expect nothing.

--I think it's funny to say we need "a Moss-type signing." Pretty sure that doesn't exist. That was really a perfect storm of factors. Not to say as fans we can't hope for a miracle (Johnson) but best to approach it as just that, a miracle.

--But new guys will be brought in, and surprises happen--not many saw Lewis coming.

--Edelman and Amendola are both good guys to have around, and will be here next year (Amendola will restructure). Martin's flashed a bit. Beyond that, let us see...

I will never understand Richards over Coates
