I loathe not having that first rounder

For what it's worth:

I'd believe that if it was a credible reporter. This guy is not for reasons I won't get into here. Wouldn't surprise me if the "NE source" is some nondescript Patriot fan.

Sadly the only way the pick is coming back is if Goodell changes his mind. Lol like that will happen. Injustices happen every day in sports and outside of sports and the team will just have to suck it up now.

On the bright side they will likely win the Brady appeal and put a major dent into the unlimited power of the commissioner to do this to them or any other team again. I don't think it's only the Patriot organization and fans who are cheering on Brady in this fight.

I don't think it's only the Patriot organization and fans who are cheering on Brady in this fight.

Outside of a very small number of level-headed fans, every single fanbase in the NFL is rooting against Brady, just as they've been doing the entire time. They don't understand, nor care about any facts, which coincidentally, is the same but for different reasons, as it pertains to Manning.

You should see my Facebook feed. Almost literally every single person I know has made comments and posted memes about how happy they are that the Pats lost yesterday. None are directed at me, but they all take great pride and joy in seeing them lose, and that definitely extends to the courtroom.

The picks are not coming back. The NYJFL set out to put a hit on Belichick. Failed that and decided to take out Brady. Having likely failed that, Goodell's found a final fall back position. Taking draft picks is like a pillow over the Patriots' face. He's leaning on it hard 'til the twitching stops.

This has been a major issue for me since Kraft caved.

I believe in the next few months more fans will realize how devastating this is.

Why can't we fans unite and get some kind of petition started to let the Krafts know how frustrated/pissed we are as fans? If it gets big enough and makes major news then at the very least the Krafts would have to address it. I know playoff losses are few around here, but the draft was a major way for me to cope. Not having those picks, especially our 1, is killing me! Even though the BS report absolved the Krafts AND Belichick of any wrongdoing, they still take the picks? It's crazy and I want them back!!!

After a playoff exit that showed there are some holes to fix...having that first rounder stolen really blows.

Thanks Bob. :(
Remind me again what was he supposed to do? There was no real legal basis for him to sue the league like Brady did because goodell didn't violate the cba? Was throwing a tantrum going to get the picks back?

I seriously am still waiting for an answer to this.

Ah, well, I guess Kraft could have said, "All those important committees I'm kinda the lead on like London and Los Angeles and the TV deals, well FU."

I dunno, if the pocketbook means more to these billionaires than the air they breathe, it's really all he could do. But I wouldn't him to lose his place on those committees, after all they mean so much to him. He gets a big hug when they close a big deal.

I pretty much agree with your thoughts on this, but Brady did not sue the NFL for what it's worth. As a matter of fact, I'm not even sure that he technically challenged the ruling itself, let alone a lawsuit.

Goodell and the NFL tried to get their ruling upheld in court and were the ones to file the paperwork to initiate the case.

My thing is, why roll over like a coward just to avoid problems with the other owners? A lawsuit isn't going to be the downfall of the NFL. America loves football way too much.

F*ck business relationships. Bob's a billionaire, has everything a man could ever want, and is loved in the region.

A lot of die hards are always going to think of him as that kid that got bullied in the schoolyard and was too scared to defend himself now, which is sad honestly, considering that he's been an absolutely ideal owner in every other way.

Perfection!!

It's far from certain that Kraft could've won those Picks back, even with the most intense and relentless combination of legal and public campaigning...but why not try, for the love of God??

What'd he have to lose? The Good Opinion of his Rapist?? o_O

Why?? Goodell strikes me as the kind of guy who isn't even good for a CRA.

It was a Fail of Epic Proportions.

To use a line from the show Billionaire "What's the use of F*ck you money if you never say F*ck you?"

Bob's not going to sue the league but I'd hire my own crew of PI's and TMZ would end up with sh!t on Kensil, Pash, Goodell, Vincent, Harbaugh, Grigson and the easiest of them all the Irsay.

Scorched earth.

We need Le Comte de Foxboro Cristo.

Edmond Dantes:
Please believe I've put my task above the mean level of personal vengeance. I am exposing criminals, not for their sins against myself but for their black injustices to others... not only for what they have done but for what they continue to do. They are the ones devoid of all humanity, the ones that profited by the sufferings of others.

you are right, Brady attempted to appeal the ruling to the minnesota court (hoping it would be more favorable to him due to precedent) and the NFL attempted to have to have their ruling upheld by the new york courts. Thank you, you are exactly right; I feel like media has referred to it as his case against the NFL multiple times though.

But what would Rage quitting those committees accomplish? What would he have voted against the Rams moving back to LA and instead the vote would have been 29-3? I know it sucks and is really stupid but unfortunately I just dont see an avenue where he could have gotten the patriots picks back

I don't sweat the first round pick outside the fact that it gives us a day 1 not worth talking about

it's just one player at the end of the day

I don't know about that but there may be something to the scorched earth idea. I do believe the Patriots organization is not just going to grin and take it.

Let's just say... I think it's not out of the question that we'll see the Patriots organization very quietly do their very own...err, "integrity" check on an opponent or two in the coming season.

It will be very interesting to see how Park Ave responds. And very telling too.

To this point they have pretty much just taken it. The problem is Bob wants to be everything to everybody. He wants the other owners, all the fans (not just NE fans), the media and anybody I left out to love him. To use the Zo line until you stop him the bully in the school yard is going to take your lunch money every day. The league had made Bob their b!tch and the other owners don't fear him. The "one of the most powerful owners" is a myth.

I remember someone in the media suggesting it was basically a screw job along the lines of "stop fighting this and we'll go easier on Brady,"

That would mean that he is both a coward and a sucker.

I don't know, but I think that the uncharacteristically high number of extensions might be a partial response to not having a first-rounder this year.

Think about it: the three biggest FAs this offseason are arguably Akiem Hicks, LeGarrette Blount, and Nate Ebner.

Imagine what George Steinbrenner's reaction would be if the Red Sox attempted to frame Jeter and the Yankees were publicly humiliated and penalized over it.
