So... What do we do with Steven Jackson?

steven jackson has nothing left. thanks for the handful of games/enjoy retirement.

maybe we get lucky and draft a decent back somewhere in the midrounds unless bill wastes another pick on special team safety's/garbage wr's like dobson and boyce.

Solder isn't the answer. People waaaay over rate him. He isn't nasty enough in the vein of Matt Light or Armstrong. Mason needs to improve massively.

As far as Cannon, I'm spot on. I saw his guy go by him and then he reacted as if suprised.

cannon looked good against the chiefs but returned to his fodder self today. same with cameron fleming. neither one of these guys should start on championship teams....

That "guy" you saw was ALL-PRO Von Miller. Miller is more than just "some guy".

And no, people don't over-rate Solder. You under-rate him. And that is plainly obvious. Just like you under-rate the defense the Patriots just faced and can't give Miller his due. Miller would have schooled Vollmer just as easily. Oh wait. Miller DID school Vollmer today. Just as much as Miller schooled Cannon. But far be it from you to acknowledge that.

I'd like to see a first and second down back to take most of the pounding, have Lewis as the 3rd down back to keep him healthier and have White as his insurance policy.

Cannon wasn't a turnstile any more than Vollmer was.. Let's get real. Fact is that he was facing an All-Pro in Von Miller. Most starting tackles in the league are going to look like turnstiles against him. Could we use an upgrade? Sure.. But where do you find one?

I thought I made it clear that it is tough to find a better starting tackle when I said "most teams would like an upgrade to their starting tackles." Or whatever it was. I think ot is a need. Vollmer has back issues and cannon...well we're talking about him now. Solder reminds me of light, solid for the most part, but struggles with certain qualities in a de. Light always got beat by quick guys, and Jason Taylor. Solder seems to struggle with "heavier" de's that can bull rush him.

Cannon is not an answer on this line for the money he is making. Solder was playing well before going down. Light? Jason Taylor anyone? Even over the hill, end of career in miami Taylor ate light's lunch.

Armstrong is getting into my younger years, and I can't attest much there. I will say that light had none of the fire that mankins had, or stork has showed. Stork was ****ing angry tonight. Shame McDaniels didn't let the big boys initiate more often.

Doubt that Jackson will want to come back for training camp since he's been there done that and probably over it. However, he might get a call halfway through the season if, god forbid, we run out of RB's again next season.

Mason, Stork and Jackson are all known to have mean streaks. Jackson and Mason were rookies this year and probably hit the wall. Not to mention that Jackson hurt his knee. A healthy O-line with more experience under their belt plays a lot better than what we saw.

I will say this, Josh Kline's shoulder injury really hurt this team. Not sure what happened to his psyche, but he went from being one of the better O-linemen on the team (behind Vollmer and Solder) to being pretty bad.
I may be underestimating what some of this group is capable of, but it just felt like the group - whether collectively or as individuals -- didn't do anything to inspire an ounce of fear in opposing defenses down the stretch.

While it isn't right to want to injure other players, I thought the Broncos called out the Patriots by threatening Gronk. I would have expected the o-line to take a few shots at people like Harris and Ward on a few plays to soften them up and establish a tone. Instead, the Broncos established the tone and here we are.

I feel Mason and Jackson will be fine. They just hit the rookie wall. And the instability at tackle just trickled down.

On Steven Jackson, he's definitely not a lead back anymore, but I'd bring him back next year. Guy is the ultimate professional, and he'd be a good mentor to the group. He's still a tank to bring down...

Honestly if our OLine had any push 4th and 1 I would have handed it off to Jackson.

Can he protect the passer?

Wow. Can't give DeGuglielmo credit? Lose both your starting OTs and still have the O-line perform decently enough to win games.. With your starting Center playing RT? Or having your 5th different LT and 4th different RT?

Not sure what you expect when your that far down your depth chart..

LT:
Solder, Cannon, Vollmer, Fleming, Waddle
RT:
Vollmer, Cannon, Fleming, Stork

Think about that.. That's who played LT and RT this season for the Pats.. Show me another team that does that and makes the play-offs.

Looks like Belichick did not give DeGuglielmo too much credit because he just fired him !!!!!

I'm all for Lynch coming here for a year.

I just don't think I could trust Blount at this point though. I think his time here is up.

Marshawn Lynch doesn't want to keep playing football and guys like that are done.

With him you never know though. Seems to be unpredictable.

sign lynch. sb51 pats vs seahawks :)

Blount is still better.... IMO.

After this season, I'm all for all the depth that the team can muster at every position.

I doubt he'll be around next year. I really like him, but I always though he was brought in because he might give them one big game or even just one big play in the postseason.

I don't look at it that way. Football takes unbelievable commitment and they take incredible punishment physically and if they seriously looking at retiring then they have checked out mentally, at that point they are done. Talented guy but I would also go for Forte instead of risking the spot and $ on Lynch. If they are replacing Blount it looks like they will have some options in free agency.

Losing Blount hurt the team a lot more than we all thought it would. Basically ended the patriots running game

Forte. He can run between the tackles and catch passes. Can't rely on Lewis to play a full season.

I think Forte has the record for most catches by a RB? I'll take him or Alshon Jeffrey :)
