Lets hope for an injury free 2016

The championship run IS over. Have you even looked at their schedule next year? It doesn't breed confidence. I actually think they may be on the outside looking in next year. This year they went in the toilet once Edelman went down against some very beatable teams. They will not win those next year with any sort of injuries. Next year will be a dogfight to even get into the playoffs.

Highly possible losses: Seattle, Denver, Arizona and one to each AFCE team. That's 6 right there not counting a win over one of these losses or a loss to another random team. The oline will be better with Solder back next year, but not by a whole lot. The oline was exposed and teams with good pass rushers (which seems to be every team but the Pats) will continue that until they prove they can stop it.

You probably said this after the 2013 AFCCG loss as well.

Seattle will be a home game. That's a very winnable game. Even if we lose to Denver and Arizona on the road, it's likely that we go at least 4-2 in the division.

All of this, of course, is contingent on fixing the Oline.

Gronk is a true champion

Poor guy will be wheeled around by the time he is 50

The run is over

Sad
Want to know what's REALLY sad? Your Jets have gone 47 years (and counting) without a championship of any kind. FORTY-SEVEN YEARS!!!

Welp looks like we should stop watching Pats games now. The omnipotent ViperGTS has proclaimed that the Pats championship run is over. I guess I'll start quilting fancy scarves on my Sundays from now on.

On a serious note. As long as we have Bill, and Tom keeps playing at a high level, we will be perennial playoff contenders. I don't like making generalizations, but anyone who thinks that this team is going to be "on the outside looking in" is either overreacting to one game or they are: delusional, a chicken little, or a Jets fan.

They took 2 losses to AFCE teams this year. Almost lost 3. I assume the same will hold next season. Now you add on the NFC West and AFC North you think it's going to be easy? It'll be a hellva lot harder next season. and you have to go to Denver. Again. With the same D they faced last year.

Tell me they are shoo-in for the playoffs?

Seattle will be an extremely dangerous out. They can easily come in and beat the Pats. They will,be a wagon next year.

Yes I did after '13. Then they got Revis and Browner and everything changed. Had they not, they would not have won the SB last year.

If they bring in Alshon Jeffrey and get some actual competitors on the oline I will feel the same way. I am looking at it as it will be status quo next season. The passing game without a field stretcher was exposed.

Brady was under pressure with 3 man rushes, not many teams in this league have the personnel to do that against this team, o-line will be healthier giving Tom more time to find the open man

On the plus side, most all of this years team who went 10-0 is returning...in the end, our injuries became too much to handle.

We were actually the most injured team in the nfl this year in numbers injured

23players on the injury report, 17on IR. If we have a healthy season next year we should be right back in it

Honestly, I do not believe in chance. There is a cause and effect relationship to everything.

If I were the NEP org, I'd be looking for a common denominator for their injury problems this year; make sure they don't go through the same, again. The number of injuries that they reported/incurred were just way, way, way out of the ordinary. Just sayin'...

It's extremely unlikely for things to remain status quo. Belichik has done some of his finest offseason work after losing AFCCGs. I expect that to continue this offseason.

Not the way presently constituted. If they can't run the ball, they won't make it. Not against that schedule.
Definitely agree with needing to run the ball more effectively, but that goes back to O-line play. If our o-line isn't on skates and gets some push then the rb's can have a chance to make something happen. Hopefully o-line and rb depth is addressed in free agency and the draft.

Buffalo. NY. Seattle. Arizona. Miami. St. Louis.

All on the schedule.

Gronk is due for a season ending injury. Two (mostly) full seasons was more than I could have hoped for...

I know...I'm sorry for the pessimism. I am so hoping for a relatively healthy season. If so we should be back in the AFCCG next year.

they are a shoo-in for the playoffs until someone else in the AFCE shows up

The Jets:
Wilkerson, fitzpatrick, davis, harrison, ivory, powell are free agents and they have a bunch of guys getting old: pace, mangold, ferguson, colon, revis

Miami:
rookie coach is going to have to prove this team is not a roster of morons

Bills:
Rex....nuff said

I think that it's safe to assume that we will lose no more than 4-5 games. Denver, Arizona, Division opponent, and the yearly random stinker. Their is a whole off season for capable players to go to contenders and pretenders. This is entirely speculation at this point.

Are you ok? You're really packing it in off of one loss? This is an incredibly stacked team heading into 2016. If you want to bail and be pessimistic after next year given the contracts coming up, I'd get that. But your current mindset is a little puzzling given who they have coming back next year, coupled with the fact they'll obviously get better over the offseason as well.

Man, I'm disappointed too but some people clearly aren't taking this well.

Ian,

It isn't about the loss, it's how they lost. I'm not a HoF coach and even I know you play up on the receivers to start the game. It's a no brainer. They weren't going up against Aaron Rodgers here. Even I know you put Chung on the best TE the opponent has. Instead, I have to watch them play 15 yards off the receivers and completion after completion. To a guy who hadn't thrown a TD in months. Only when they had 2 TDs they started playing D the "right way". Why is that? Wouldn't the first TD drive snap you out of it?

Offensively it was an embarrassment. They did nothing to solve/mitigate the rush. That is something any decent football team would do. It felt to me like they just flat out didn't want to win. I've never seen a Pats team perform that bad in a game of this magnitude. Bradys demeanor which was sullen and no energy from the start of the game was troublesome. This was the worst loss, even worse than the SB losses because of HOW they lost.

People feel it's easy to fix, and this isn't easy to fix. There is something wrong with how it all went down, something that's deeper than just bad plays. No one will ever find out the truth and that is disturbing as well.

Finally you can't change out your entire offensive line. They can't run block. They are going to learn how to run block in 8 months? Doubtful. I don't have faith in them paying for a big receiver, let alone draft one. I think people feel that it will all be fixed next year. You can't count ofn people who constantly year in and year out get injured and expect to beat the tough teams they have on the schedule. They went 3-5 to end the season, not exactly a wagon. All of those teams I listed have good Ds, and will now do the same thing Denver did until the Pats can stop it. Which they can't without massive offensive upgrades. The league has adapted.

The D will be phenomenal. Swag Roberts will be exciting to watch across from Butler. If by some miracle they get a proven grade A outside receiver, a grade A to B+ running back and shore up their line then I might feel better. Until that happens, people are just whistling past the graveyard.
