Which is exactly why I feared the worst playing in Denver, unlike other people who had no problem with the #2 seed. The #1 seed was almost a guarantee to getting back to the SB IMO.
Defense travels. The OL would have **** the bed regardless of whether or not they played in Denver. If they didn't like it, they shouldn't have choked to the Eagles at home.

This happens every time a single player costs a game. Let's be honest, Ghost cost us the game.

Still the best kicker, probably ever.

We will be in 51. Mark my words.

Ghost was definitely one of the reasons we lost but I put him near the bottom of the list. I put belichick near the top. Along with the disgrace of an oline we have.

I don't know how I'd prioritize the failures, but Gost's miss obviously cost us the game in some fashion.

His first XP miss in 10 years came in the AFCCG, where we definitely would've kicked a FG one of those times at the end, and even if we didn't, still would've sent the game to OT at worst.

While I agree with your "team concept" thoughts which are very true, the fact remains that our offense and defense still played well enough to at least have the score tied at the end of regulation had he not missed an extra point. It's like something you'd see in a movie.

Guy still made a bunch of kicks to kick them in it. Plus it looked like a bad hold to me. Does anybody else think that?

I can't defend ghost. I mean I guess I could. He's been clutch for us for so long blah blah...... but when one of your rare misses comes in the biggest game, *playoff game* of the year...... You lose major clutch points. I just don't think he was near the top of the list of why we aren't in the SB. Id put belichick, brady *two awful picks* and the oline way above him.... And the rest of the offense not named rob gronkowski. Just a terrible display by almost everyone.

These are the same sports "fans" who live on twitter 24/7, rushing to be the very first ones to tweet and troll guys like Adam Schefter, SportsCenter, Skip Bayless, etc. with stupid, often unoriginal and overboard replies for attention and internet points (aka retweets and likes).

They're lame internet losers.

Ghost was part of a loss. As was Brady. As was the OL and the coaches, and despite playing extremely well, the defense too (there was no need to give 10-yard cushions on that first TD drive).

There were so many plays that could have made a difference and didn't. You're telling me a kick for 1 point was the sole reason we lost? What about the 3 we didn't get late in the 4th, instead going for it? Which BTW, I supported at the time, but that's a different discussion.

This is typical though. People go full ****** over ONE point, and there are like crickets over those missing THREE points.

This was a team loss. A missed kick in the first quarter did not cost us the game. Many teams have won games where their kickers missed an XP or a FG. People who blame Ghost for the loss also blame the gas pump guy for high gas prices. There's no point arguing with them, they're stupid.

No doubt it was an awful display by just about everyone aside from the defense, and even they allowed 17 points in the first half.

That said, all of those God awful performances were still good enough to have scored 20+ points, had he simply made the extra point. The irony is crazy. He had made his previous 523 attempts. That's insane.

The crowd noise(or lack thereof), playing at home, altitude and the refs wouldn't have been as much of a factor. Playing at home is worth at least 3-4 points advantage. The Pats would've won had that game been played at Gillette.

?? Too funny- new to the game of football? (not kidding) - 2 double hook moves against Jamie Collins (by a nobody TE) were the difference in the game. Not an early extra point miss.

Not disagreeing with your XP miss point but 2 interceptions, O line allowing 20 QB hits and 3 or 4 sacks were the reasons they lost that game in my mind.

Von Millar, Ware etc..., were just blowing by the O line all game long.

Maybe. Then they would have gotten smoked by Carolina. Those two three techs that the Panthers have would eat our ****bag interior OL alive.

Tom gifting denver a int on the 20 yard line had more to do with the loss than a missed extra point. Let's be real! Denver barely did anything on offense outside of their first drive. The defense was basically defending only half of the field for most of the 3rd quarter too.

Well here is one explanation for the hate. Guy claims he bet his mortgage on the game. hahaha

1st Tweet. (From the article)

Keeks @Keenan_Balla

@Keenan_Balla what a disgrace you are, no real fan talks like that.

@g3rdsister you do when you have your mortgage payment on this game #beardown

**** happens is right. he was eventually going to miss one. It was still early in the game so we had plenty of game left to make up for it. It's like blaming Brady for not seeing KeShawn on the 2-point attempt, as he was wide open but the pass rush was on, as it was all game long. I just wish they tied the game and Gostkowski had a shot at a game winning field goal.

Shame on everyone who is blaming Gostkowski. I hope you go root for some other team next year.

The tweets are obscene and no one deserves to have those sorts of things said of him.

But, while there's a lot blame to go around, it can be fairly said that Gostkowski helped cost the Pats the game...check that...he cost the Pats a chance to win the game in OT. That's just a fact. We'll never know why he missed that kick, but people who know more about it than I do thought that something was wrong...including where he lined up compared to where he'd been lining up in pre-game practice.

Gostkowski also ****ed up the onside kick that could have given them a last gasp chance at an "Aaron Rodgers moment," kicking the ball just five yards into the arms of a Bronco.

So, Gostkowski fully and justly deserves the criticism he's receiving, but he doesn't deserve the obscenities.

One can make that statement and still be grateful for and respect all of his Regular Season accomplishments and be happy that he is a Patriot, as am I.

[ps: I have read in many places that he doesn't like to be called "Ghost," so I don't know why people persist with that familiarity out here.]
