Where does this loss rank for you in terms of painfulness (Brady era)

This one hurts mainly because it was Goodell's wet dream.

He snaked our FRP, got the idiot "fans" and "unbiased" mediots against Brady (again), distracted the team with a nonsensical hate campaign and got us kicked off the FU Tour bus, for PEYTON FREAKING MANNING to return to the Bowl.

This one is right up there for me (but nothing really tops 2007. I STILL have people *****ing at me about that).

I hope the Panthers Seahawk the Broncos. But it's probably not going to happen. Seems like when a player is about to retire, improbable **** happens in the AFCCG vs the Patriots and then they get to the Super Bowl and win.

How do you miss that FG Ghost? Josh McDaniels has been a terrible OC, don't care what any of you say, and this ENTIRE OLine needs to go. No bright spots on the line, I don't want any of them guys next season. They have been terrible for like 15 out of 18 games. James White just forgot how to catch, Steven Jackson gave us nothing, Brady ignored Edelman, Lafell didn't exist, Bolden was trash and Bill sucked today.

Defense was flat out phenomenal after a rough start and they have no reason to hang their heads.

So that's why this one is up there for me: because of all that, yet we had a chance and blew it with horrible playcalling.

Gronk, Amendola and the Defense came to play. Everyone else did not.

This was an awesome, old school football type of game. Sure, Hulkuli got his part in in the 1st quarter, but it was an entertaining, hard nosed, defensive game. I look forward to watching this Denver defense trying to deal with cam, Stewart, and that Carolina ol.

Id put the regular season loss in Denver this year as more painful than tonight. Sure gronk was interfered with repeatedly, but outside of that?

You know what kind of offense can't be "no called" to death? Carolina's. They ran all over seattle two weeks ago, and az tonight. Can't wait to call papa Johns half way through the 3rd for 2 LG cheese pizzas (2nd for 50 cents) so o can feed them to my dogs while flipping through the dvr for the latest manning face choke face.

****. Did I say 3rd quarter? That's only if there are a few "76 personal foul" flags akin to the flag stork apparently drew...ie bs...followed by non calls...difference is Carolina is running, and running first.

They have one hell of an oline, Stewart is a hell of a back, then cam. Losing that wr may have been the best thing that ever happened to them. Rely on the run, and run opponents over in a pass first Era. BB has spoken about swings in philosophy, food for thought.

This loss ranks right around the 2013 or 2012 AFCCG losses. They all suck. Some are worse than others.

I saw no way in hell that we'd have beaten CAR this year in the SB, though, as much as I hoped to see the chance.

2006 afc championship was the toughest for me. I thought we had that game. I've been lucky to go to every Brady playoff game at Gillette. The toughest one live for me was Jets 2010. Way more good times than bad though.

Way, way behind the two SB losses
Way behind the "4th and 2" loss
Way behind the Touchback-Touchdown loss in Denver
Way behind the loss to the Jests in Foxboro
Behind the loss to the Ravens in Foxboro (we sucked that day, so it's not "way behind")
Behind the other loss to the Broncos this year (Regular Season game or it would be "way behind")
Behind the loss to the Iggles this year (ditto)

So, around number nine and probably a lot farther down the list and behind a bunch of other tough regular season losses of games we should have won but that I don't even remember.

The score was close, but the game wasn't.

The D kept us in it, but otherwise the Old Man and the Donkeys just plain outplayed our guys:

The O line would have embarrassed a mediocre College Team.

Your QB can't throw three picks and also throw half a dozen other balls into the ground because he's hearing footsteps and afraid of throwing yet another pick.

Your K just CAN'T miss an XP in a Championship Game and then blow the onside kick and have it go only five yards into the arms of Defender that MIGHT have given you one more chance (remember Aaron Rodgers x2). Sorry, Steve, your regular season stats are awesome, but I still want #4 in a Championship Game.

Both reviews that went to 345 Park ended up in our favor.

So, a lot easier to take than a lot of losses in games I thought we shoulda won. We almost sent this game into OT and we certainly would have done so if Gostkowski doesn't miss that XP, but I can't honestly say we should have won it, so it's way down that list.

We got our asses handed to us by every team that made the playoffs in 2008.

Umm, the Cardinals went to the Super Bowl. NE beat them 47-7.

I would have liked see them win, but for some reason got over it by the time I switched the channel to the next game.

It doesn't rank that high for me. It was winnable but at the same time it was on the road against a very good defense. The Jets, Ravens and Super Bowl losses are all much worse.

I'm here. Of course I'm bummed, but strangely enough, I'm not really upset this morning. Should the Pats have won? Yes. They held Denver to 79 yards in the second half and just 3 points. The Pats had 233 yards, made 4 trips to the red zone, and could have scored 17 second half points from those red zone trips, but came away with just 9. The difference in the game.

I mean, when you make your list of how the Pats could lose this game, the last thing on the list has to be Ghost missing an extra point, right? It has to be the absolute last thing you think about.

But.......crazy things happen in Denver. What can you do?

The answer to another thread: Yes, Carolina is going to absolutely annihilate Denver. It will be no less than a 20-point victory, I think.

I could barely sleep last night due to this game. However, in the end I think it will end up being less painful than many playoff losses. I think part of that is due to how the offense played and knowing they didn't put up a championship type performance. I'll also feel much better if Carolina wins.

The other part of it is how last year ended. Personally I felt this was more of a honeymoon season and an additional SB would just be extra gravy. No expectations.

Not that much to be honest. Had a bad feeling since knowing we had to play in Denver . The outcome is predetermined.

I was more upset with the loss to the Eagles and the last 2 losses of the regular season than the loss in the AFCCG. I believe that if the Patriots had gotten home field, they would have had a better chance at winning. Not a given but it would have improved their chances.

Considerably flawed Pats teams, hurts but you can logically process it

2015 @ DEN

Fixed it (for me)

Over time people will realize that your oline needs to pass or run block in order to win a SB.

1. 2007 SB vs NYG (will never be topped)
2. 2011 SB vs NYG (another one literally through their fingers)
3. 2006 AFCCG @ Ind (I got over this quicker than others on the list but it was a cruel defeat after the early lead)
4. 2015 AFCCG @ Den (never felt dread from start to finish more than this game)
5. 2010 Divisional vs NYJ (could rank as high as 3, took me a while to get over)
6. 2012 AFCCG vs Bal (sick of these damn farewell tours costing us)
7. 2013 AFCCG @ Den (**** you Mile High)
8. 2005 Divisional @ Den (hate that place, also it was a damn touchback)
9. 2009 Wildcard vs Bal (one of the worst teams of Brady era and this was over quickly)

Can't wait to call papa Johns half way through the 3rd for 2 LG cheese pizzas (2nd for 50 cents) so o can feed them to my dogs while flipping through the dvr for the latest manning face choke face.

I like my dog too much than to feed it that Papa John's crap. Seriously, Papa John's, Little Ceasar's, or Dominoes...that **** is disgusting.

I'm already over this one, it was amazing they got this far with so many injuries, it had that "this wasn't our year feeling" with the injuries but damn, they came close again. Not so sure how we would have fared against Carolina this year. If Denver gets their ass handed to them a lot of Pats fans will feel better about this loss.
How can you already be over it when even with injuries, majority of the people still think we would win this game? Remember denver was the underdog...

I'm sure Roger is happy that he won't have to hand over the Lombardy trophy to the Pats but I am also sure he is not happy with Brady's performance this season. Brady proved that the whole competitive advantage via some ball deflation scheme was a bunch of BS.

Ranking in tiers

Worst Ever, Will Never Be Topped

2007 Giants

"NOT AGAIN"
2011 Giants

WE ****ING HAD THEM
2006 Colts

Gut Wrenching Shockers
2010 Jets
2011 Ravens

"This should have been in Foxboro"
2015 Broncos

Considerably flawed Pats teams, hurts but you can logically process it
2005 Broncos
2013 Broncos
2009 Ravens
I agree with this except for one possible caveat: I think this year's team might belong in the final tier simply because it was so devastated by injuries. (BTW, it was a 2012 loss to Ravens in AFCCG, not 2011.)

Doesn't hurt that much for 2 reasons:

1. We won SB49
2. As a consolation, we get to watch Denver likely lose another SB. (Unless the Panthers aren't as good as we all think they are.)

This loss stings quite a bit, mainly because it was against Manning and because in the end the NFL got there way! Any other team, I might not be as upset. Also the play calling and coaching was atrocious, I don't think BB has ever been this bad, he has made questionable calls in the past but nothing like this !
