Coaching has been horrible down the stretch and stupid today

I wouldn't be necessarily call it desperate just that they played the percentages and it didnt work out. But I understand what you mean and on a certain level they definitely were desperate about the OL.

And I think this is also the biggest valid point of criticism of BB and McD everyone seems to be missing. That they apparently severly overestimated how well the OL would perform while gameplanning which left us scrambling and trying to fix it on the go for the majority of the game.
They went against the percentages actually.

I'm not sure if this has been posted here yet but what about putting Edelman at PR on the last series? Too little too late.

Maybe the greatest PR next to Hester could've given us a spark. Edelman nearly always makes the first man miss. Amendola did a poor job as a return man yesterday.

I don't agree with everything you say but I can tell you're a smart football guy. You know some fans can't help but defend belichick and others regardless of the decisions they make. They can do no wrong in their eyes. You have to really reach defending going for it in that position. Listen, if denver was moving the ball easy on our defense all day or even in the 4th quarter, ok, I get it.... But they weren't! Plus, there was PLENTY of time left! I can't for the life of me justify going for it there. Take the damn points and play defense against a below average offense! ************!!!
These guys nail it.

Josh was taken to the woodshed by Phillips today.
No, the offensive line was "taken to the woodshed" by Denver's DL. When you face a team that has no threat of a running game, can get to the quarterback with only three or four people rushing and consistently put seven or eight players in coverage vs. a scheme that doesn't stretch the field, there's nowhere for the quarterback to throw the ball. Even then, the Pats still had a chance at the end, which is saying something vs. the No. 1 defense playing at home with a loud crowd behind it, at altitude on grass. It's not like the Pats were blown out. They were beat up and exhausted going in (have been for weeks) and got beaten up in Denver. There's no shame in any of it.

I disagree because the defense was proving they could hold Denver and the idea that they could force a turnover was there. I said it then and say it still, they should've taken the 3 and not counted on getting a 2-point conversion against that D.

That's fine but BB didn't see it that way. In hindsight going for 3 made total sense.

It's probably the only time I will ever feel like my call was better than BB's because I was livid that we didn't take the three. In the end, it was a total team loss and what seemed like a culminating effect that was building since the last time they were in Denver. Lots to be optimistic for in 2016, except for the draft picks that were stolen from us and would've been pretty useful.

No they did not.

And you can continue to abuse the disagree button as much as you want but it is fact that you have a higher chance of scoring a TD or at least a first down with a 4th & 1 in the opponents redzone than having a successful drive from your own red zone. Even more so in a game where you haven't been in the redzone out of your own power in 3.5 quarters.

Just sitting here reliving it. Maybe BB didn't have faith in Gost making it after the botched XP? Like when he didn't have faith in Gost kicking the 50 yarder in SB 42.

If that is the case, I get it but I'd prefer we just go get a different kicker instead of not wanting ours to kick at crucial moments.

Thats the only way to look at it. Everyone shares blame in the loss. Pinning it on just one or two players isn't worth it.

That exact thought went through my mind however Gost did make a couple after the blown XP.

Only problem with this theory is that Ghost had already kicked two longer FGs before that fourth down.

People are bashing BB, Josh, etc. Everyone deserves a slice of the blame pie but the olines talent level and performance is THE reason they lost.
Isn't BB in charge of assembling the team? Not trying to dump everything on BB, but he is certainly one of the guys who need to reflect in the post season.

Blew several games poor coaching decisions. At 6 minutes left you kick that FG that was stupid. You needed those 3 points.

Well look who is back.

Disappeared completely after they beat KC only to reappear when they lose.

IMO - the largest share of blame falls on the coaching staff and they would probably be the first to agree.
Yes they will say that.

I'm going with the o-line. Injuries, talent level, communication, inexperience and lack of consistency all season are the contributing factors to Brady getting hammered the most of any QB the last 10 years

I agree that they were outcoached yesterday but imo most of the blame goes on the OL, worst game since KC 2014.

Tough day, bad loss, but that's the price you pay for always v playing in big games, you don't always get the glory and is hard to as then winning the Super Bowl with the OL playing this poorly. They have work to do it they want another Lombardi and it starts up front.

Almost time to go under the knife, adios.

Being critical of BB the GM is a different discussion than criticizing BB the coach.

With all the injuries I'm really not sure what more he could have done. Hell he was signing LTs in Week 15

Being down 8 is just about the same as being down to scores...that's why I believe kicking the FG was the right move. However, being only 1 yard needed, I can see why Bill made the call to go for it.
I'm not sure about the 4th and 6 though. I realize there was about 2:30 left, but Pats had all 3 time outs and the 2 minute warning. Kicking a FG there would mean that they would need a 3 and out to have a realistic chance. So, what was more probable..Pats picking up a 4th and 6..or getting a 3 and out?
Tough call either way. Bottom line is that both the Pats and Den each scored 2 tds and 2 FGs....the difference was a missed extra point.....the new rule change that Bill wanted.
