Coaching has been horrible down the stretch and stupid today

It is what it is, coaching was sub par. I think Bill is great, but there has always been games where you wonder what he was thinking.

Our offense couldnt do anything all day and was repeatedly stalling. Even if you kick the 3 you still need a late touchdown drive to win, which we had shown almost no sign of being able to do prior to that drive.

I was fine with them going for it there and i still am now. Too many people on here are letting hindsight get in the way.

That was the only legit drive we had had all game to that point so i completely understand not wanting to settle for another fieldgoal.

Now the playcall itself was awful..

I don't care if the pats offense was not doing a thing all day, you needed a FG and touchdown to win regardless. The pats did get their late TD drive. Problem is instead of it being a winning drive like it should have been it was a drive that could only tie the game at best.

Ok, BB decided he wanted to avoid the Panthers so that he can get a head start to planning for the first preseason game. With this crazy post, I sign off to be seen again during the draft. Cutting TV cable as well. Going dark.

Blew several games poor coaching decisions. At 6 minutes left you kick that FG that was stupid. You needed those 3 points.
Could not agree more. This is one of BB most BLUNDEROUS years since starting coaching here.....hope he still has it but so many decisions were mind blowingly bad...today was fine example was today..,,YOU ALWAYS TAKE THE POINTS!!! You get it just a little tighter after a FG....and Mannings raisins tighten up...instead BB takes the cute route....not his brightest day

No doubt. It was idiotic not to take the 3 points. And it lost the game.

PayATon was not gonna drive the Broncos downfield for a TD. At worst he gets a FG. So even in the worst scenario, the Pats are in the same position, needing 8 points.

In the best scenario, Pats D stops PayATon ( as it did all 2nd half), and then the Pats win the game with the TD. Such a stupid call to not take the 3 points.

yes BB should have taken the 3 points knowing they need it not just a TD but also a 2pt conv but who knows maybe denver opens up there offense more after the pats get the 3 points and just run out the clock, it is what it is a loss.. the OL play was just too bad today to win on the road

Should have taken the 3, and we'd be off to SB50. We didn't play our best game, but played well enough to win.

Oh well. Can't win em all.

I was hoping you were right about that blowout you predicted. Even tho I was 95 percent sure it wouldn't happen, that would have been awesome. The pats problems in denver is real, not to be dismissed as no big deal. Should have played for home field, oh well. Get em next year I guess.

If Bill retires, who is the replacement ? Don't think McD can do the job.

We can sugarcoated all we want but this team came out flat as a pancake. For once i can honestly say that the defense did its job. Pats offensive unit was a disaster. Can we get this team at home for once? Mile High has been a house of horrors for tommy and company.

I disagree with the coaches being to blame for not kicking for the reasons others argue on here. However, I do blame the coaches for the team repeatedly coming out flat on the road for three consecutive games. Just look at their initial efforts versus the Jets, Dolphins, and Broncos. In all three, the Patriots had to make up for a sleepwalking, listless performance in the second half. I don't know why the team has this problem getting going early, but I believe it starts with the coaches.

Completely disagree.. you have not been moving the ball well at all, you are deep in their territory and just need a single yard. I would agree that the actual playcall on 4th & 1 was stupid but the decision to go for it given the context was reasonable.

I don't get this desperation go for it mentality. Converting fourth down did not guarantee a TD. We still had 10+ yards to go in the hardest part of the field, the red zone. And if we convert the fourth down, due to the time we may now use trying to get the TD, any failure to get the TD there would guarantee we could not win this game in the fourth quarter -- only a tie (which would require the 2 point conversion). I didn't see the need to be that desperate -- at least not yet. Given the score and game scenario that 3 points and saving game clock were both valuable.

I was pissed when we went for it on fourth down. We were stonewalling Denver's O and we ourselves were now in a more caution-less 2 minute mode moving it somewhat better between the 30s. So if we had kicked the FG the scenario is: we are down by 5, there is 6 mins on the clock, and Denver has the ball on its own 20. We should have felt pretty good the D could get a 3 and out. Plus we had all 3 timeouts remaining as well as the 2 minute warning to facilitate a change of possession without using much clock.

So if we kick the FG, then hold Denver to a 3 and out (again we should have felt fairly confident of that 3 and out)? Great, we now likely have 2 possessions left (again thanks to the timeouts). This sets up 2 possible drives to the much easier attained Denver 35 to convert 2 FGs (not to mention it makes the sputtering Denver O feel pressure to call riskier plays - IMHO advantage Patriots D). Yet!! If we fail to get a FG on possession 1, or fail to hold Denver to 3 and out before possession 1? We now know we must have a TD on our next possession. Oh no! We can't convert that. Oh wait! We did end up in that position. Oh wait, we did find a way to score a TD. Oh that's right, we also had to have a 2 point conversion that we shouldn't have needed if we didn't act desperate. Next time have some damn faith that we don't need to act desperate when there is 6 minutes remaining in a one score game.
