Hi. Well, I do find SOME solace in the fact that there are several Pats' losses over the years that left me feeling more sullen. If they had lost the SB last year, I was very close to losing some interest in the team (a loss to Balt. in the first round would have been horrible as well), as losing three SBs so close together (though not like Buffalo, lol) would have been too disheartening. But repeating is an elite achievement, and you can't really expect to manage it.

Right off, I'd have to say the most painful loss was during our undefeated year, in the SB. We didn't play that badly (though lackluster), but it ruined our chance to make possible never-to-be-replicated history, AND to make the ultimate post-Spygate statement to the league. After that was definitely the blown 21-3 lead to Indy in the AFC championship. After that, it's tough between the year we lost to the Jets and the lost AFC championship to Ravens, but I'll go with jets. We demolished them in the regular season, and we were on a SB like roll going into the play offs. Then I'd actually put the second SB loss to the Giants, and then that AFC loss to the Ravens. Today's loss might rank next, BUT the year we lost to Denver to thwart a chance at a threepeat might have been a bit worse, although I don't think that team was quite as good (but remember the game turning plays in that game? Ugh. I think the final was 27-13.)

I might be able to even come up with one or two more. So, this one stinks, especially since I think we would have been the more competitive team in the SB, and because in some ways it came down to a missed PAT (though we had plenty of time to overcome that), but there are a few that rank ahead.

For what it's worth. :/

It does stink to keep losing in Denver, and to know we should have had homefield....However, losing in the play offs at home in a game it seems you should win seems worse, IMO. I might be able to be talked into thinking this game was worse than the loss in the AFCC to the ravens, though.

It doesn't rank that high for me. It was winnable but at the same time it was on the road against a very good defense. The Jets, Ravens and Super Bowl losses are all much worse.

I would say the Miami loss stung more, since that is precisely when I felt the pain of this loss.

It stunk, but doesn't really rank up there for me.. Main reason is I just haven't felt the same since defamegate. Cared much less all season.

It's the absolute worst. Why? Because they lost the others doing what they do. Today they didn't run their offense. Nothing even close. It was the hold the ball for 8 seconds and run long routes. Made zero sense. Zero. They played not to win, offensively at least. Defensively it almost felt like they let Pey Pey get some scores. This is a dude who threw one TD pass at home all year. Pitt didn't give even 1 up, yet somehow the Pats play off coverage and then get "confused" on a TD pass, then not putting Chung on him instead of Collins. After they were at 14, the Pats D started playing properly. It's almost like they spotted them those points. It's a feeling I just flat out can't shake. TBs utter lack of emotion the entire game doesn't help me move off that feeling that something was off. That's why was the worst.

If only we had home field........

Not making the play-offs the Cassell year also was hard. Besides being 11-5, that team was peaking and gelling at just the right time. It's hard to see a Cassell led team being a real threat, but I think they could have sneaked in. It's hard to recall one loss there that really stung though---they lost in OT after an amazing comeback against the jets, but that was really the game that got it looking like winning with cassel was possible, so it's hard to pinpoint that one. But very disappointing that they never got the chance.

We got our asses handed to us by every team that made the playoffs in 2008.

Questions like this are hard to answer. This loss is fresh on our minds, so I think it feels like it stings a little bit more than it actually does. It's a fresh wound that hasn't had time to heal.

Well put, giving Denver homefield (and in turn, the AFC Championship crown) on a silver platter was really a 2 week process, this loss has been in the making for a while.

Losing the #1 seed straight up is one thing, but you actively go out of your way (eg: bizarre, head scratching play calling) to give it away, it really stings

I'm already over this one, it was amazing they got this far with so many injuries, it had that "this wasn't our year feeling" with the injuries but damn, they came close again. Not so sure how we would have fared against Carolina this year. If Denver gets their ass handed to them a lot of Pats fans will feel better about this loss.

Considering I already accepted this loss last Sunday it's not very high. In fact I've been more upset about some regular season losses than this game.

It hurts because manning's not the same QB and once again they failed in denver. This game was on the offensive side of the football. Maybe next time they can put more emphasis on HFA. No way brady gets hit that much in foxboro. Denver plays defense well at home.
