Coaching has been horrible down the stretch and stupid today

If Denver runs out the clock on the next possession everyone complains about kicking. Wasn't a no brainer but I think I would have kicked it personally.
I doubt it, going for 3 was the right move. Patriots were having a tough time moving the ball and they had a relatively easy field goal. Not only that, their defense was stifling the Broncos. Belichick would not have caught any flack for kicking the field goal if they lost.

You have to take the points there. You have to.

The thing is, we were down by 8. As we saw, even with a touchdown, it's still comes down to a coinflip to decide if we are successful on the 2-point conversion or not. If you're Belichick there, you have to assume that you're going to have to score twice to win.

I mean, suppose they score a TD and complete the 2PC successfully. Then what? It's 20-20. You still need another score to win the game. Best case scenario is basically taking is it to overtime.

The big thing to remember is that, yeah, we stopped Denver time and time again late in the game. However, they had a lead and were running out the clock at that point. If it were 20-20, they would've been much more aggressive.

Awful, awful decision. I understand going for it on 4th down the second time, but when we went for it with like 6 minutes left it was egregiously bad. This isn't hindsight bias. I thought this at the time too.

lol. It is obvious they needed the three points. BB acted like a disappointed fan going for it there with 6 minutes left. "d%#*!@t I wanted a TD now Go for it go for it." Dumb.

So why exactly did they need those three points there ? Because you knew that 5 minutes later they would score a TD and miss a 2PT conversion after not being able to move the ball the entire game ?

You guys are really funny.. when we lose because we take it out of Brady's hand you are all in arms about that but then we we actually give him the ball on a 4th & 1 in the opponents redzone you become chicken **** and want to defer the decision to hang on to the nice warm blanket of hope.

Again, the playcall was **** but the decision to go for it with that amount of time left at that field position was reasonable.

bring it GLM ... if you can. try to defend not kicking FG in that situation. That's right, you can't.
Refer to:

Oh shut up chicken little. You're using hindsight to fuel your argument. When your offense has been getting ****ted on all day and you're that deep in your opponent's territory and it's 4th and 1, you go for it.

belichick had a horrible year. you take the points gronk wins it at the end. would of been incredible...sucks that it didnt happen.

**** josh, only a dumb team would hire him to become their HC. without brady, he's useless

Completely disagree.. you have not been moving the ball well at all, you are deep in their territory and just need a single yard. I would agree that the actual playcall on 4th & 1 was stupid but the decision to go for it given the context was reasonable.

You take the points and trust your D to hold. Anytime you have a chance to take points on that tough D, you do it, otherwise you're left in a difficult situation where you have to score a TD AND a 2 point conversion against a super bowl caliber defense.

And that play where Brady was under center and did a play action lob to edelman got snuffed out was so damn predictable. Denver knew that the Pats were not going to run it. Their corner had know reason to come in and instead stuck to his spot where he made the play. So dumb.

Had it been seven I'd definitely go for it, I'd only considering kicking because I wasn't confident about getting two.

Couldn't agree more. Play calling was atrocious. It was the GB offensive. Verticals and incuts. Not the Pats offense.

I think everyone was thinking the same thing, why not cut to 5 and hope with a TD and extra point they would have gone up by 2.

Your reply makes no sense? 5 minutes later they would have clinched a Super Bowl birth?? "scratching head"

You don't chase points. The Patriots went for 7 with 6 minutes left when they should have taken the 3.
You never quite catch up chasing points.

I love belichick, but he is a big reason we aren't in the SB right now. If he just treated HFA with the importance it deserved, that alone could have been the difference. Let alone his coaching decisions in THIS game.

Nothing we did coaching-wise today compares with pretty much intentionally losing the game against Miami which could have secured us home field advantage. That was a disgrace. It didn't even save anyone from injury. Just the hell with that game.

Refer to:

There was a great chance Denver's stout D was going to prevent a 1rst down conversion since they were crapping on us all game. 3 points is almost guaranteed and there's still 6 minutes left on the clock.

This is a no brainer bud.

I wanted the field goal right in the moment.... Because I knew that Denver would excel in a 2 point situation with the field closed down to 12 yards. I had NO FAITH in the 2 point play at all. And with Denver bound to play the clock to some extent, we had a great chance of stopping any more points being put up on the board.

I was amazed the decision was to go for it. 3 now and 6 later and we WIN. Very sad. We were all set up to take the game in the 4th quarter in the usual last minute way and we played for a TIE with a beaten up quarterback. Bad Bad coaching

Look at the second one. Just over 2:30 left. 4th and 6 after the penalty from the 11. With the way the Denver D was playing that was a long shot to make. The don't make it and Denver takes over at their 11. If they had kicked the field goal and On the kick off put it through the end zone. Denver would have taken it over at their own 20 a difference of 9 yards. I think it made sense to take the 3 there. Not a no brainier, but the better call.

There's also a good chance the patriots would've got that one yard. It obviously didn't happen, but there was a good chance bud.

Not kicking was one of the dumber moves of this year by a coaching staff that seemed a bit out of it's element this year
I don't know that drop kick was so cool!!!
