Denver's defense simply dominated the game - plain and simple. The problem with being one-dimensional finally showed up today, unfortunately. Obviously, the Denver defense was designed to stop Brady: strong pass rush and good corners.

Maybe someone, however, can explain one thing to me: WHY, with Miller and Ware consistently blasting past Cannon or Volmer, did we go empty backfield so many times? Why not leave in White to help pick up Miller or Ware? Very perplexing to leave one-on-one match-ups that were demonstrably being dominated by Denver.....

Because Denver was rushing 3.

So say you pick up Miler, they still have a huge advantage on you as you have one less receiver. They had 8 guys defending the pass.

I mean you really think kicking a FG with 2 minutes left would have sat well at the time? A competent ball-control operation and they would have got the ball back with less than a minute. You're really underestimating how much the DEN offense folded up at the very end.

These kinds of discussions are dumb because not because the coaching staff is a sacred cow- they had an awful day lol- but because we can play the phantom points game all over the place. If Brady doesn't throw an awful INT in their own territory that's seven points gained back. If Gost hits the XP there's not even a panic about FGs vs 2-point conversions. If the O-line isn't a turnstile Brady isn't rattled and seeing ghosts all day. Nothing was good enough, across the board.

We'll just agree to disagree and that's ok.

Yeah, I don't think BB thought they would get that close again fairly easily, I see why he did it because if you convert and score a TD there, hold them and you just need a FG to win the game.
Yeah I mean, assuming you can drive two or three times successfully to score points is assuming quite a lot out of an offense that was as bad as it's been all year.

You want to blame the coaching staff for stuff? How about the fact they couldn't scheme up a way to block three or four-man rushes. That they started on defense in some weird soft zone that led to DEN's first TD. The fact that Brady never changed the snap cadence once, which put the OL in an even worse situation at critical times. The fact that Brady was seeing ghosts all day and cost the team a min. 4 points. Just so many problems all around. They would have had to steal this game to win it.

I hear fans complaining about the Pats not kicking the 2 FGs, but there is a reason for that. They [The NYFL*, Kraft included] wanted the game to end dramatically. It's Brady vs Manning. It's the championship game, the last go 'round, between these two. It's Manning on the sideline praying that Brady can't get it done. It's Brady falling from cloud nine and getting back up, again (next season). They are going to make movies out of this rival in the future. This is the NFL. It's not real. It's entertainment. I love Tom Brady, just like I love Jon Snow on Game of Thrones, I was sick for days after his own men stabbed him to death (until I realized he might not be dead after all). I root for these guys, they are heroes, underdogs, rejects, who will soon become kings and idolized by millions, or something along those lines, like the speech Superman's real daddy gave him on the Man of Steel trailers. No matter how fictional their stories are, it gives people, like us, hope.

Am I pissed off about Brady not getting another ring this year? Yes.

But can we all finally admit the Pats and Bengals, both purposely chose to hand the AFC championship to Denver, and that the games are fixed, for entertainment purposes?

I already knew Brady would lose, but it hurt to watch him suffer and lose like that, to some HGH taking, overrated old scrub, who will NEVER live up to his hype, because I wanted him to win so badly. I won't be watching the SB, this year, like I didn't watch Manning vs the Seahawks, because I don't care for the outcome, though I already know the outcome for this one. I do hope Kuechly have a good game, however, if he makes it. The Cards/Panthers game is more intriguing because the NFL likely doesn't care who wins it, as long as they keep it close for ratings sake, both teams would make a compelling story against Manning's team. I'm just certain, Manning is retiring with a ring.

Enjoy the game, everyone!

Game changes if we go for those.

It doesn't unfold the same way. Including a 40 yard passes to gronk at the end.

It was the right move at the time cause time was running out and we literally wasn't moving the ball all game.

It was the right move and I dot question it. I question how manning had all those open lanes to throw in the first quarter. Game was legit lost in the first.

Exactly easy to say this in hindsight. Maybe down 5 Manning throws the ball on 2nd down and we never get it back.

according to chatham pats never adjusted their snap count esp stork's head bob.

The better team won today. No shame in that their defense showed up our offense didn't and we still lost in the final seconds of play. We need a better OLINE if Edelman, Gronk and boys don't get separation we have nothing.
I got hammered on this board when i questioned the "next man up" minute and that next man up was Cannon! Cannon sucks!!

We have a better O-line. They were just injured.. It happens.. Solder out. Tre Jackson out.

Brady hit 23 times.

Can we cut Dobson and LaFell and get a big body WR?

Now, JE is limping badly in the locker room according to Jeff Howe.
The defense wasn't flat. The early defensive gameplan was the problem. Why you'd ever play zone with large cushions against Manning in Denver is mind boggling.
Though BB said he will never underrate Manning, that is exactly what that game plan was in the first half.
This season, our coaches have done some uncharacteristic things that I want to say may be a results of injuries.

Denver's opening drive where they gave up a TD was infuriating

IT WAS 3RD AND 10, ABOUT TO FORCE A 3 & OUT

Hindsight is 20/20 on the FG's. If they kick and go down only 5, Broncos probably play more aggressive on offense. No one can say they don't get a few first downs and flip field position. The oline did not allow them to be succesful on a long field .
I doubt they play any differently up by 5 or up by 8...same thing really

Sun of Bum took Josh for a ride.

The Patriots played the only game they could that gave Denver a shot at winning. They committed turnovers, the OL was a turnstile (again), the coaches shat the bed and the great one just didn't have it from the get-go. With all that said, they still had a chance to force OT. It feels like a wasted season but ultimately, the injuries, especially the loss of Solder was too great to overcome.

Cannon vs. ALL PRO Von Miller. Who is gonna win? Von Miller most of the time. Why? He's an ALL-PRO. Miller makes most people look like they suck..

It wasn't underestimating Manning. It was underestimating the effects of the thin air at a mile above sea level. You play aggressive defense in Denver, especially against a QB who throws ducks.

soft d on 1st possession got manning going..inexcusable how butler played that 3rd and 10. Should have been a 3 and out to start the game.

Let me sit on your left so you can pass me that blunt cuz. That **** has GOT to be tight!

It was hilariously obvious in the second half, the Broncos DL were all looking in on him and setting off on the head bob.
