If the game plan was to stifle the run, why exactly did the Pats take the football to start the game?

The only reason I can think of to do it was to try harder to get an early lead and induce Denver to pass more.

So far, sure. The Broncos have made a whole season out of playing like shot in the first half then winning in the 2nd. Time for us to take a page from their script
