I don't know if you're able to control your itinerary when you plan your travels or if you have other people to factor in (wife, et al) but I always schedule my travels around the playoffs so I'm home for them and away inbetween. I'm home this weekend, and take off again the day after the superbowl.

Myanmar is one very (until a couple of years ago) isolated (and beautiful) place. You watch Pats games at different embassies? Are you James Bond? It's been a big snowstorm day here on the East Coast of the US and some of us are a bit stir crazy. Throw us a bone.

James Bond would have direct satellite feed to his smartphone.

The Most Interesting Man in the World wouldn't be issuing frantic pleas on an Internet message board. The game would've been moved to Burma for him. Or at least rescheduled for his viewing convenience.

SE Asia should have a good enough network for you to buy a satellite 4G wi fi stick and just stream it on your own. Ive done it in Nigeria and Liberia, its hard to imagine Burma's not wired up enough for that too.

just go to a supermarket or whatever and see if they got a network stick and a SIM

Of course, on Patsfans.com you can read about a guy who is trying to get the game in Myanmar......and then another guy KNOWS someone who has some previous connections in Myanmar and may be able to help him out.

I NEVER cease to be amazed by this place.

I don't think that is what Shmessy meant TJ. We need to know the story behind the story. What brought a Pats fan to SE Asia for all these years. How do maintain your fandom. You know, the good stuff.

Update: Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and particularly betterthanthealternative who offered to work diplomatic connections to find me a tv. Bribing bar employees to stay open didn't work and the Myanmar "4G" network apparently isn't all that 4G. I've made a deal with the hotel to have unlimited bandwidth during the game (2:30am), which the IT guy assures me will be enough as they normally restrict to any single user which is why it hasn't worked so far so hopefully I am all set.

John, the game is at 1:05pm MOUNTAIN TIME, but 3:05pm Eastern. If my Google search is correct, you are 11.5 hours ahead of US Eastern time. You may want to resched that to 4:30am over there!

It used to be called Rangoon and Burma ~ slightly to the right of India.

I liked the older names, myself...But "Myanmar" is pretty cool.

won't be unlimited, will be limited by their upstream provider. some years back I had an FBI friend tell me about an investigation in Karachi that hinged on an apartment building wired with Cat5 (ethernet) cabling for distribution of Internet coming from a backbone capable only of dialup speed. So your hotel could give you all they've got but that's really all they can get from their source. hopefully it should be good enough. might be prudent to structure the contract with incentives, pay for performance.
