Post Season & its time for a Superstition Thread

So, I have many but one that I think is dead on has to do with this site. For the first several weeks of the 2015 season the page image was of Brady. Since about 8 weeks in (maybe 7), the images have been switched up. Now we have Edelman. Brady was flying when he was featured - can we put Brady back up as the site page image? PLEASE....for the sake of superstition!

Do your superstitions really come out during the playoffs?

What are they and do they get worse when the Patriots are in the playoffs?

My habit, this past season, is not to wear Patriots' gear on game day thinking they lose when I do. Yet, they lose when I don't. Funny how I wore my Brady jersey to a SB watching party last year and the Pats won! Just might change this time around.

What do you do and do you think it helps?

GO PATS!!!!

I've given up on game day superstitions... with one exception. SB 36, 38, and 39 I watched at home.

Subsequently, SB 42 and 46 I watched at friends' houses.

So after 46, I had given up watching Pats SB's anywhere but home... and was handsomely rewarded last year.

HOWEVER...

Mrs. Rover wanted an impromptu vacation this winter... so we're in Sarasota for SB 50.

If the Pats make the SB, and they lose... I accept all the blame. o_O ;)

Hey Bill, should I post my hat here too?

The past few years, when I feel too tense, I'll turn off the TV and track the game through the forum. There's no way to prove it but I would swear that the "YESSSSSSSS!" posts begin to chase out the FMLs nearly every time I go into my "scan mode" :p

I don't know if you consider this a superstition but I find my "rally cap" works well.

I wouldn't say the superstitions come out but I catch myself over-thinking what I do.

"Should I really be using this Patriots coffee cup on Friday? It may not be clean on Sunday"

"Going to the gym, should I wear this Patriots shirt or that one"

So, yeah, I guess the superstitions don't come out...they get worse

Yes

There are a couple of Pats jerseys i wont wear because I know they are bad luck,

I threw away a #36 jersey because the pats lost a playoff game

I'm not superstitious but...starting with the Packers game last year I haven't been able to see 6 of the Patriots' games live and they lost all 6 games (obviously their only loses). This year I've missed more games than usual as my daughter is the point guard for her grade school team and her games are usually on Sunday afternoons. I thought that I was home free when the coach anounced that the game would be moved from Sunday at 4:00pm to Saturday because of the AFC championship. Then the gods started to conspire against me, perhaps knowing that the Patriots' fate is tethered to my viewership of their games;). Her team is only 7 strong and 4 of them travel as a pack and all of them had the same commitment on Saturday so the coach was forced to switch the game back to 4pm on Sunday. I was going to play the "Hey I've been to every practice and game this year" card and just have my wife attend, but she's a consultant and was scheduled to leave Monday morning but that was just moved up and now she's flying out Sunday at 12:00. So on Sunday at 4pm I'll be watching my daughter break ankles with her crossover...and if the Pats wind up losing again..

Still time for a quickie divorce.

I'm not as superstitous as I used to be, I was debating between wearing my Brady or Gronk jersey before the Chiefs game and I went with the Brady one. So I am wearing the Brady jersey for the rest of the playoffs...

LOL... she was INSTRUMENTAL in SB 49. Seahawks at the 1, I'm going all game-day-thread with "Game over, man, game over!", and she's saying "You gotta believe!" Then... a miracle happened. :D

Plus... she's a former Jets fan who was converted. Gotta keep that woman. ;)

Unless you are bringing your home with you to Sarasota . i would consider it

Praying for another miracle so you can keep the special little lady

:)

Well there is that one pair of undies. Never been washed. I only break them out for special occasions now. Super Bowls and first dates.

Sarasota, huh? I watched SB XLIII down there while on a business trip. Never realized the SB was the Sunday I flew into Tampa. Airport all decked out in SB stuff, the car rental place was a stones throw from Raymond James Stadium, could see all the stuff going on. Once I got to Sarasota, drove over to St Armand's Circle and watched the game in a place called "Cha-Cha Coconuts". Neat atmosphere, good food and sat at the bar the entire time right in front of the big screen.

Not any more so than the rest of the season. What do you take me for, a casual?!?!

Yes.

For example, I started dating this girl in December 2007 (who I would end up dating until 2011).

Right around December was when we stopped blowing teams out, and eventually lost the Super Bowl, which happened to be the first Super Bowl that I did not watch at home or attend.

In 2011, we stopped dating, and got back together around Super Bowl time. We obviously lost that one too and I realized that I am personally cursing our team lol.

Dumped that chick, waited a few years, boom, another ring.

She better not think about texting me for the next month, or I will lose my ****.

(Obviously I am joking about dumping a girl over the Pats)

I got the Play-off beard going on.. That and wearing my well-worn #12 Jersey.. I've stopped wearing the others (Bruschi, Seymour, Welker). I stopped getting Jerseys because after I got each of Bruschi, Seymour and Welker, they were gone within a year..
