He went from OSU (Meyer) Houston (O'Brien and RC) and now maybe SF (Chip)

BB definitely was putting in good words for him.

That would be a rapid ascent to power and glad if he got it, but have to wonder if he is ready.. or if all that being in the trenches for a long time to get seasoned is all bullshyt..

He is climbing that career ladder quickly..

Wonder if things are still rocky between him and Bill. Could be cool one day for him to return.

I don't think so. Thought I saw them in a man hug after the game.

That's over, saw a few comments from Vrabel a little while ago. He was hurt and pissed at the time but that's over.

We have SF on the schedule next year. Brady and Vrabel used to have a Michigan vs OSU bet where the loser of the game had to wear the winners college jersey at practice. Maybe they can have the bet based on the Pats-Niners games for old times sake. During that period OSU dominated so Brady might finally get Vrabel in Michigan colors.

Is it true they offered it to him? I havent seen anyone other than this source say anything other than they had talked to him about it.

I still blame A-fail-ius Thomas for Vrabel leaving.

Or he may be thinking "G—ddamn the 49ers are a mess."
even as a mess the best case is he establishes himself as a solid Defensive coordinator and worst case he gets another job somewhere as a Linebacker coach. Maybe the 49ers really low balled the offer

...or, he was promised to be the DC next year when Romeo's contract runs out. Plus, it is being reported that the Texans upped Mike's contract.

Sometimes you are just comfortable in an organization and with O'Brien.. better to know the dog that will bite you thing.

Yeah kinda unusual someone would turn down that soft of promotion. Would be cool if he came here next year if Partricia gets a HC gig.

Vrabel's got it made in the shade if he gets the DC job after Romeo and Clowney can actually stay on the field.

In addition to possibly being promised to be Crennel's replacement, he may have simply not felt ready. He's a very young coach, it doesn't have to be a race to the top. There's an underappreciated talent for realizing you aren't ready yet in all walks of life, including the NFL.

Meanwhile, this, evidently, doesn't guarantee that Judas keeps the job :

Two names under consideration for Niners DC job: Their own LBs coach Jason Tarver, Ravens LBs coach Don Martindale. Both have DC experience.

Not a bad move. It doesn't say anything about SF. Maybe Vrabel just likes his situation or feels he needs more experience before taking over the DC role.
