Miners, CowBoys, Steelers, and Raiders!!

I'll take "Who are the only 4 Teams ~ besides the Patriots themselves ~ who in their entire History have earned as many Final Four Appearances as Mad Bill & Tom Brady in New EngLand" for $1000, Alex.

OT - finding past Pats games on dvd/bluray

I am aware of the 3 games to glory dvds and such that contain the playoffs, SB and highlights of the season, but is there a way to get a complete season, every game, every play?

I am finishing up last year's season to free up space on my DVR for this year's, and I'm wondering I'm ever going to see all of these plays again.

go to ioffer.com there's a bunch of guys selling football games. I'd buy 1 first just to check the quality.

I myself have a pretty large, extensive library of Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox games. I used to collect alot when I was younger. I would trade people all over the world and of course buy from other collectors/sellers.

I might just watch NE vs SD from 2001 this weekend. That was Brady leading the Pats to a win in OT.

OT: Going to the game thread

Long story short: I had some travel plans back from work that were going to cause me to miss the game entirely. I realized I could easily fly to Denver from where I am right now, go to the game, and then fly out the next day. So I am going to the game!

Yes, my ticket was crazy expensive but after reading all those threads about how this is BB & Brady's 10th AFC title game and in the previous 40 years we went to two, I can't help but think you gotta live in the moment a little bit and go to something like this if you can!

I'll be sitting on the visitor's side hopefully with some other Pats fans. Who else around here is going?

Only the browns

They hired Ray Horton as DC, later changed coaches/GMs and fired him, and now after the team failed with the group they brought in, they are thinking about hiring him again.

Browns are going to be paying him for his last contract and then his new contract. what a bunch of morons running the browns.

what are the chances...

That boomer picks against the pats this weekend?

I'm thinking about 0%

I just realized my class on Sundays is from 1:00PM to 3:45PM. I don't have DVR. Not sure how I'm gonna manage this especially since it's the first day of class. Might just try and bounce early and try to make it to the Cask in time for kickoff. Curse these stupid ass start times!

Bill Simmons: The 15th Round (Revisited)

The 15th Round

Simmons posted a fantastic article a year ago this week (could easily pass off as his column this week if he were still writing) on the Brady-Manning rivalry and its "end". Obviously this has not been the case and Manning has *somehow* managed to back into another AFC title game. I think there are a lot of interesting parts because after the Broncos playoff loss to Indy last year, many thought it was the end of Manning.

As Simmons brilliantly pointed out, the Broncos and Pats were in similar positions last year in the second half of their respective playoff games: down by multiple points with old QB's and in desperate need of a spark. Both coaches acted differently and we ended up raising banner IV in September.

So is Manning really done like Simmons said a year ago? In my opinion he has done nothing (other than getting up on Sunday after giving himself up) to prove otherwise and we will see who wins this Rocky-Creed 15th round come Sunday.

so..Here's the deal... My wife and daughter r flying out to California Sat morning to see my mother in law.
I'm hosting a football party Sunday after and already got the Basil-Hayden Bourbon in hand! Looks like I'll be cooking/drinking and yelling Sunday

Cough, cough…I'm sorry, but I do believe that I'm coming down with something…cough, cough...

Let's assume for a moment the Pats win the SB and Brady is the MVP.

Who's going to give the trophy to Kraft and Brady? Goodell? How embarrassing would that be. I think even an idiot like Goodell knows where it is his place in a situation like this, far away from the podium.

Vincent? Pash? All possible guys from the NFL front office are corrupt and involved in the deflategate sting. They would be at extreme risk to be called names in National TV, if Edelman or Gronk wins the MVP that's almost a certainty.

Another random thought. What if after all this mess in the last off season and with another appeal still pending dragging this issue to another off season, if the Pats win it all, would that be enough for the owners go like "OK Rog, you put up all this mess all we only gave you support because no one wanted to see the Patriots repeat and in the end the Patriots won again, what do we do with you?" (Knife sharpening sounds in the background).

Peyton Manning. It's the closest he's been to a Lombardi in ten years.

Haha. I want to just walk out at 2:30 but it's a Cisco-instructed class and I get this feeling that missing one hour will screw you up very bad. Fortunately there are only 8 folks in the class. Maybe the instructor will be a huge Pats fan and call out sick hehe

Semi-OT: Looking for radio interview this week about Manning

I was in the car this week and caught a snippet of a really interesting interview about Manning, and how thoroughly he prepares for defenses and their tendencies. I remember the guy said he had a room full of white boards, and would have about a quarter of a whiteboard taken up for a team like Miami, because they had a simple defense. With the Patriots, all four whiteboards would be fully taken up with writing, because the Patriots just don't have many obvious tendencies, but Manning would still try to squeeze something, anything out.

It really was a fascinating analysis of the chess match. Unfortunately it was just a cuople of minutes I caught on the car between tunnels. I think it was Wednesday morning, though I'm not even sure of that. Does anyone remember, or even better, have a link to the audio? Would be well worth listening to the whole discussion, and discussing it some here. I think it may have been on the Dan Patrick show, though I'm not sure.

QB play over the decades

Barnwell: How the 'average' NFL QB has changed dramatically

Really good ESPN article. If you think that's oxymoronic -- well, that's silly, because Reiss has worked at ESPN for years. Anyhow, this one is by Bill Barnwell, who was a Grantland guy.

The main point is that QB performance has changed a lot over the years, due to various changes in the game both in rules (duh) and in approach (short passing game).

One odd subsidiary point is that Stafford, who supposedly has an importantly huge arm, is well below average in how far his passes travel through the air.

The article also opens without resolving a discussion about how much an average QB is worth, and specifically whether they're worth huge amounts of "franchise QB" money.

Let's Go image wanted..

Does anyone have the "Let's Go" image similar to the one below for the Broncos game?
