Maybe I lack imagination, but I would think it would be difficult for a woman to be on the field with a whistle trying to boss around Ray Rice and Suh and the like and be taken seriously by players.

A woman in a closet analyzing film seems plausible.

not many examples, but nancy lieberman coached a d-league team in 2010. here is what one of her players said:

Coaching D-League team is natural fit for Nancy Lieberman

Former Oklahoma player Keith Clark, now a member of the Legends squad, said playing for Lieberman is like playing for any coach.

"As soon as I heard she was our coach, I googled her," Clark said. "I was impressed with everything I read about her. It isn't a stretch that she is coaching a men's team. She knows the game. It was really no big deal for me. My mom was one of my first coaches."

Clark said Lieberman earned the respect of her players and opponents.

"Players would come up and ask me how it feels to play for a girl coach," Clark said. "No different than playing for a man. To them it's shocking, but to us, she's coach."

Tulsa coach Nate Tibbetts has respect for Lieberman.

"I've gotten to know her a little bit," he said. "She knows her stuff. She wouldn't have gotten the job if she didn't. She's done a wonderful job, and I think her guys enjoy playing for her."

lieberman's an assistant coach for the sacramento kings now.

By the same token, in what way do you see a male coach physically able to dominate a player like Suh? Do you think Adam Gase can take him in a fight? An arm wrestle? How do you think that works if not through physical domination? Personally, I don't think players are managed through physical domination. If that were the case, all the head coaches would be in the hospital.

Manboobs aside, Belichick's like half the size of Dion Lewis, let alone Malcolm Brown or Bryan Stork. Yet they all seem to respect him despite the fact his football experience was as a backup on a D-3 team. Funny, that.

Yup...I agree 100%.Now name the woman alive today that can fill that prerequisite. I'll wait.

The NFL is overflowing with former players in the coaching ranks. Your post is ludicrous. Yes Mike Singletary was a bust. Tom Landry a bust? Bart Starr? **** Butkus?...aaahhh, why bother, you have your PC agenda to promote...go ahead, give a list of qualified women coaches you know about that can teach NFL linebackers, defensive backs and lineman "the proper techniques" from their wealth of experience..
In a rather funny twist on your argument she is actually replacing a former player. So maybe you should really be complaining about how woman are taking away mens jobs. Five things to know about Bills' Kathryn Smith, first NFL female coach

he must arm wrestle all his players before they join. That's probably why we can never draft well at wide receiver he just cant beat any of the good wide receiver draftees in an arm wrestling match.

I would think that Ernie Adams wouldn't exactly intimidate the Richard Seymours of the world, either, but considering he can offer the players knowledge that will make them better I would imagine they would be very receptive to his words. I see it as being no different with Smith. If she brings knowledge and contributions to the team that makes them better both individually and as a whole she will be respected and listened to. If not then she won't and will be out of a job. It seems pretty cut and dry in my mind. Can she do the job or not? Gender is completely irrelevant.

Oh, and have you not seen a properly motivated smart chick latch on to something before? The female lion is a SAVAGE.

Being smart, and a good leader and having more knowledge about the job the person under you does gains a hell of a lot more respect, and causes them to follow you much more than I am bigger stronger and could kick your butt.

Without genetic manipulation, it's probably not going to happen unless we get a genetic freak. Male/Female physical differences are usually accentuated at the elite levels, not minimized.

Dues, I agree but we only need one out of two billion to represent us, but if there is one I think she might play baseball.

Here's a good argument killer for that one: Ronda Rousey (loss to Holm included), would rip Floyd Mayweather's arm off and beat him over the head with it inside of 30 seconds in an actual fight.

Round 1: Adams vs Seymour

FIGHT!

Maybe I'm missing something, but it sure looks to me like the Bills have made a totally routine minor promotion of a valued staff member who has been steadily working her way up the ladder over the course of a dozen years.

Come on. Don't you think Eastern European patriarchal society had something to do with that? I'd think you would be stridently opposed to socio-political gender discrimination. ;)

No, it was that way in the good ole USA too. Look up coach, I think it was Don Peters. Of course, he was banned from coaching for having sex with his gymnasts, but I digress.

I'm not saying anything one way or another, just that no one cared at all that men were coaching girls gymnastics. No one said anything about relating to them or having experience doing the specific moves or the culture of girls. And why would that be? Because they are men and all men are just allowed to do whatever they want in any industry?

If Todd Haley, who only ever played golf in college, can coach professional football, so can a woman. Clearly actual college play is not a requirement for the role, particularly the low level role this person is taking on.

I don't understand why there is even a question about whether or not a person can sit in a room and watch film. She lacks a penis, not eyes.
Perhaps the boobs get in the way?

Have you seen me defending that here? No. To the contrary, I've been advocating the opposite. Your example of Geno Auriemma is tell-tale in respect to women not having the opportunity early on to develop the requisite capabilities of coaching at that level. It's different now, for the better. Say you have a male and a female coach of equal expertise: which would you consider better suited to coach a women's team? If you think it doesn't matter, you'd be wrong (in my humble opinion, naturally).
