This is going to happen at some point with the existing rules. A playoff game will go to overtime. Team A will score a FG on the first drive. Team B will score a FG in response to extend the game. The game will then go on FOREVER scoreless because that occasionally happens. Players will get injured, and the surviving team will be spent for their next matchup. The system will then get scrapped for something else, possibly even stupider than before.
