2016 Draft Prospect Thread

I said about a week before then bowl game that Howard could bump himself up a full round with a big game.

Physic tools have never been a question with hkm. It's always been about becoming a football player and creating some positive tape as an offensive player.

He definitely took care of that last part.

I have not seen anything from Howard that says to me that he can separate in the nfl. He is not a guy that fits the pats model.

How about Keenan Reynolds, Navy QB as a future slot back. Looked like he has the moves.

im pretty sure he is going to play in the senior bowl as a running back

OJ Howard returning to 'Bama. Makes for a nice TE class next year.

Peyton Barber decided against expectation to enter the draft as a RS Soph.

For those looking for a low cost Ridley replacement, this is your guy. Probably 5-7th round, and his situation seems so eerily similar to Ridley, besides the obvious physical makeup and playing style.

I could see a fit if we were looking for ways to spend those late round picks.

dont know if thats a good plan for him. Saban might use him more but he is going to have a first time starter as his QB on a team that is again going to be run heavy. I could be completely wrong but he is banking on Saban shifting and deciding to use him in the passing game which he didn't for almost all of this season.

Just in time for the Pats having a 1st round pick again. For now anyway (looks over shoulders....). The last few drafts have been pretty weak for TEs in the Patriots draft range. Knowing how much BB values that position I wouldn't be surprised to see him pounce again if a decent talent is finally available.

LB prospect Aaron Karlen Wisconsin Stevens Point. Very Quick.

I am going through wide receivers right now and just got done with Daniel Braverman from W. Michigan. If the Patriots let go of Amendola, this kid is a perfect replacement. Plays the game like Edelman. Intense kid that is very shifty and hard for defenders to get their hands on. He even does that jump back, duck, and dive forward move.
I know what you are thinking, played at W. Michigan so the competition is bad, but they played a lot of power 5 teams over the past couple of years and he has done well in those games. Him and Sterling Shepherd are the 2 that have stuck out to me so far, but if I can get Braverman 3/4 rounds later, sign me up.

Another rangy linebacker. Keep an eye on him.

Nice to see another perspective on him. There is already a thread:

My concern right now is that it's taken some time for these types of guys (Brown, Welker, Amendola, Edelman) to get used to the pro level and establish themselves. If the team likes him, I'd rather they draft him and still keep Amendola - and get Braveman through to the practice squad or in a special-teams-only role for 2016 while he adjusts to the NFL.

6'4 220lbs that's way to small for an LB no?

It's a fair question. It's why I would lean towards terrance smith personally, but his movement skills are not linebacker level at all. @manxman2601 and mayoclinic have been talking for years about a true star backer, basically a hybrid safety/lb. This kid could play that with his speed and coverage abilities. I think if you could point to one critical need on our current defense is one more coverage linebacker. Collins is too valuable in other areas to have to take all the coverage responsibilities, and freeney had his shortcomings as well.

He has shown the ability to play all over a defense as well, which will also show well to the pats.

So maybe not ideal measurables, but it's also why he's a 4-6th rounder instead of a top 10 pick like Jack.

You're right about Mayo and I talking about a hybrid LB/S role. I'm changing my reasoning on that a bit. Reason: We already have that guy in Patrick Chung. Having said that, there's no harm in taking someone on day 3 for that role.

It's true, but I don't know how long he will hold up. At that size, you can see how much pounding you can take.

Hope I am wrong, cause Chung has never been better.
