Yep, there's a real shortage of EVPs over there at NYJFL headquarters. Good to see they're filling those much-needed slots quickly.

Lockhart was a former Clinton crony and ex campaign manager for Howard dean.

So what former roles did they have with the Jets?
Lockhart used to be press secretary for Clinton and he was born in Bronx, NY. He worked as VP of Communication for Facebook for a few years.

Hogan is just a lawyer who was born in Ohio. She was Joe Biden's counsel.

Why? Because 46 VP's are not enough. Let's see...48 VP's means 1.5 per team. Seems legit.

So a quick Wiki of them...
Lockhart was press secretary for the White House (98-00)
Hogan was counsel for Biden as well as assisting in the drafting of 1995 anti-terror legislation

Just seems like 2 extra pointless jobs. Just like a lot of the ones at the NFL offices.

They hired three specifically to oversee the Pats...

Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe.

Sheriffs Lenk and Colburn as new VP's charged with gathering more deflategate "evidence" against Tom Brady?

So they hired a spin doctor and a lobbyist. This fills me with supreme confidence in their intent.

Are those nicknames for Kensil, Pash and Vincent?

Seems like the NFL is doubling up on PR after the last PR guy.
P.R. chief Paul Hicks leaves the NFL

Paul Hicks stepped down as the executive V.P. of communications and public affairs last September right before the Berman ruling. When that happened I told my Jets friend the writing was on the wall for the NFL front office.

Now it's turned into two more positions (fall guys) in
Joe Lockhart: Executive Vice President of Communications
Cynthia Hogan: Executive Vice President of Public Policy and Government Affairs

Note: Hogan has been with the NFL for a year and basically throws "Public Policy" duties in with her Government Affairs work (lobbying).

One thing Goodell has been good at: Creating layers of bureaucracy.

The NFL lowballs the guy who has the SB1 video and then refuses to negotiate with him on a price. Yet, they have plenty of funds to add new vice presidents (I can't imagine these people coming on board for under 6 figures.) In the long run, which is a better investment for the NFL, a piece of it's history or someone who's name we'll never hear again other than a small mention 10 years from now that they're retiring or moving on to a new opportunity?

Hard to know what to make of this. Both Lockhart and Hogan are in a different league from the average NYJ clown at 345 Park.

Joe Lockhart was Presidential Press Secretary during the Clinton Impeachment proceedings and throughout the Starr Investigation, so anything that "heavyweights" like Peter King and Pal Salantonio can throw at him will seem like powder puffs compared to what he's had to deal with in the past. He is very well regarded in media/communications circles and he knows his way around the "real" media very well. His appointment is "overkill" for what the NFL usually has to confront in terms of media relations.

Cynthia Hogan is the more interesting of the two appointments (in her case, a promotion), IMO. She has worked for Biden for years, both in the WH and starting when he was Chair or Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. She is already very influential in DC and will be more so when Hillary finally gets indicted and Biden jumps in to fill the void.

What they have in common is that they are both very good at what they do and have been in "war room" situations most of their careers.

Suggests to me that (a) the NFL will not be surprised if it loses the Brady Appeal and (b) that they expect a lot more blowback both from Labor on the Commissioner's power during the next CBA and from members of Congress on concussions.

These sound like hires to run political interference. Perhaps the NYJFL feels their antitrust position getting a little shaky.

Lockhart was the black hat i9n the fake CBS story on Bush's time in the Texas Air National Guard. I'm not saying he is the one who forged the papers, but he knows who did!

INTENGRITY!!!!

CBS Ousts 4 For Bush Guard Story

The producer of the piece, Mary Mapes, was also faulted for calling Joe Lockhart, a senior official in the John Kerry campaign, prior to the airing of the piece, and offering to put Burkett in touch with him. The panel called Mapes' action a "clear conflict of interest that created the appearance of political bias."

These were Lieweke hires. Goodell doesn't have the brain power or vision to bring these kind of high-caliber people into the organization.

At the end of the day, they needed to raise the IQ level and thoughtfulness of that organization. All these NYJ retreads and football lifers who benefited from nepotism and the good ole boy network were really hurting them. On matters of public interest, their clumsiness and lack of foresight has been exposed time and time again.

I concur with your statements. Lockhart and Hogan are pros. Hopefully their job functions and roles are purposed more for the good of football than stratagize over how to cover-up and spin-doctor. The problem is their backgrounds are perfect to execute such behavior.

The more folks Goodell hires, the more insulated he becomes.. "Teflon Roger".

Just SIX figures????!!! Believe me. rookie undrafted FA's who make 53 man rosters (aprox. $435,000) are making a LOT less than these Sr. VP's.

Looks to me they hired another spin doctor and a lobbyist. What a great day for the NFL.
