So why do most of us dislike Peyton Manning?

My Peyton hatred probably goes back longer than most. It started when he was at Tennessee, and Charles Woodson was going up against Peyton for the Heisman. As a UM student at the time, I would naturally always root for Peyton to play poorly.

He also cost Michigan the Coaches Poll national title in '97, by laying a complete egg vs Nebraska in the bowl game. The Coaches then jumped Nebraska to #1 over Michigan.

Since he's left UT, my hatred is mainly based on the Brady vs Peyton who's better debate. So I've just been rooting hard vs Peyton whether he's been in Denver or Indy.
Sweet av.

Payton is all about Payton. In his post game interview he said "I got that touchdown". "I". Not "We". How about the guy who caught the ball, the line who protected him, the coaches who drew up the play? No doubt that he was a great QB, but that moment reinforced for me why I've never warmed up to him.
Yeah I noticed that also......"I got that touchdown". It's something you'd never hear from Brady.

For his weasel like tactics benefiting him when NFL* uses Brady as an example for not giving in to their agenda. While Brady is his own man, his own beliefs, Manning eats up all attention, spotlight regardless how much he fails in BIG Moments (see Seahawks SB Blowout). In their eyes Manning can do no wrong.

AKA Horseface

It's weird. I don't have a legit answer on why I don't like him. And it's funny because Brady and Peyton are pretty good friends, and Brady looks up to him
I dislike him only because he has been our primary rival for over a decade.

If Brady had played like Manning on Saturday the entire theme running up to the AFCCG would have been the quarterback controversy in New England and how his defense and injuries to the opponent bailed him out. That's as bad as I have ever seen a QB play in a play off game and win.

My dislike for Peyton Manning the Quarterback comes from one point of annoyance: the simple fact that he is celebrated by the media which in turn, trickles into the masses, as if he has enjoyed the career Tom Brady has. It's an injustice to the greatness of Brady that anyone could ever contemplate Peyton Manning being remotely close to Brady's echelon.

I don't hate the guy ~ count me among those who detest his Legions of BallWashers.

Tremendous Posts throughout this Thread, by the way!!

He's an incredibly fake sociopath. The peyton people see on tv is just a mask, a character that he plays. his whole persona is scripted, there isn't an ounce of originality in anything he says because its all been prepared.

He's a more adept, slightly less violent Aaron hernandez

Manning has played worse and won in the playoffs before

I don't dislike manning. I like that he's starting over Brock.

Osweiller doesn't make the checks at the line that Manning does
Osweiller doesn't get that non-sack call that Manning did

I dislike him first and foremost because he tea-bagged a young woman who was there to help him in college, lied about it and then laughed it up about it with dear old dad IN A BOOK.

I dislike the way he gets credited with anything that goes right with his team but lays the blame at the feet of someone else when things go wrong. Just once I'd like to hear him own up to one of his awful games, and he's had quite a few.

I dislike the way he recently cheated with HGH and hid behind his wife's skirt. As a matter of fact, I think that's despicable.

I dislike the fact that every road has been paved for him to succeed, from college to the pros, including having his team moved to an all expansion team division to give him a free ride to the NFL playoffs every year, and yet he has failed far more than he has succeeded.

I dislike the fact that he choreographed a game of keep away with his teammates to celebrate an individual record. I also dislike the way he puts himself over the team to chase those records, which was most obvious when he went after Brady's TD record.

I dislike his self promotion of that fraudulent goody goody image, which is as carefully cultivated as the tomatoes that a gardener grows on his land.

I also dislike the special treatment he receives from the NYJFL, which may or may not be planned by the Manning clan.

I also dislike the fact that the once derogatory term "happy feet" that was used to note indecision, disappeared from NYJFL coverage once Peyton came upon the NFL scene and made it a staple of his game.

Other than those things, he's okay I guess.

I don't hate him.............but the ballwashing over Brady is hard to take at times.

Charlie Casserly was on EEI this a.m. and he actually believes Manning played better than Brady this past weekend.

Serial teabagger

So you hate a family because the media likes them...How does that make sense? Shouldn't you hate the media then?

When the media reports every rumor on Brady like it is a fact & ignores HGH reports on Manning, it is easy to hate the media.

This 100x !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's a real POS as well for what he did to that trainer and how the Manning family handled. The media ballwashing just makes it unbearable. Nobody really knows the real Manning except those close to him who have been able to have a glimpse at the real him. I have no doubt Manning used HGH. The guys a cheater in my book. The orchestrated keep away and throwing his teammates under the bus shows exactly who he is.

1) Sexual assault.
2) He used HGH.
3) He's dumb enough to inject it into his forehead.
4) His lack of meaningful football accomplishments in contrast to the amount of praise that he receives.
5) He's ok with that. $ matters more.
