Ok, everyone is concerned about the Pats track record in Denver, but fail to remember that Brady owns Wade Phillips. Brady is 5-2 vs. Wade Phillips run defenses.

Yes, the Pats lost in Denver a few months back, but Brady still passed for 280 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 INTs with no Edelman or Amendola and with Gronk going out in the fourth. Hell, he made Scott Chandler look good in that game (5 catches for 58 yards and a TD).

But here is some reading of Brady and Belichick vs. Wade Phillips and his defenses:

Should be fun

doesnt even take into account the matchup advantages on offense that the patriots have. Edelman has torched their cornerbacks and i see that continuing. im expecting a big game from edelman/amendola

Phillips defense definitely gave us trouble when they had the players. They came in to foxboro and beat us when he was with the chargers and even the playoff game they played well if not for the dumb marlon mcree. Cant say the same about the players he had in houston and dallas.
So yes pats have had success but each team and situation is different and a lot depends on the players you have as a coordinator.

The Cowboys defense in 2007 was talented and Brady threw all over it. In 2013, the Texans had a top rated defense in the league (they were 4th in the league in points allowed and 6th overall) and Brady passed all over their letterman jackets not once, but twice.

Let's not pretend that Brady only beat Phillips when he had no talent. Before the game in November, Phillips hadn't beat Brady since 2005.

Read the SMY article from 2013 I linked to. She spells out how good the Wade Phillips defenses were when Brady faced them and talks about how he carved them up even though they were among the better defenses in the league.

That 05 game was rough, I remember. But wasn't the main issue in that game our ILB's were a Has-Been Chad Brown and a Never-Was Monty Beisel? LdT ran all day long on us that day.

I think we need to come out and try and deliver a knockout blow. Idk if we can win a close game

Cool beans...I remember a thread just like this when Jack Del Rio was the defensive coordinator in Denver.

The freaking ESPN report I just read from Clayton took Philips' 2-5 record to mean 40 percent, or "2 of 5."

He actually goes on to remind us that is historically almost twice the winning percentage of everyone else vs. Brady, and attempts to spin it as a good thing.

I'm not making this stuff up.

Math is hard, yo.

Apparently, being a reporter for ESPN isn't, though.

Sports journalists should be classed with the protozoa on the intellectual scale.

I believe the Pats are the better team and should win, however it's not the whole Brady not good in Denver thing that bothers me, it truly is the whole nfl trying to make sure Manning gets to the superbowl that really works me. Already have seen several "Manning moves one step closer to story book ending" type of articles. I just hope the Pata get a big lead and don't take their foot off the gas so the refs can't have a say in outcome.

This is my biggest concern. If we aren't blowing them out, the refs will insert themselves into the game and influence the outcome.

The Pats are going into Denver and beat them soundly!

1. The Pats will be much better prepared than Denver.
2. Our Defense will stifle what little offense the Broncos can muster.
3. Manning's O-Line cannot withstand our pass rush.
4. Our run D is good (and maybe very good) with Donta Hightower back.
5. The Kubiak Offense is predictable. McDaniel's is not.
6. Our Offense is healthy enough now to adjust to whatever Denver's Defense gives us.
7. Our QB is GOAT. See him rise in the moment!
8. Their QB in over his head again. See him whither before us!
9. The Pats are quietly confident and EXTREMELY focused.
10. If it's a Snow Bowl they will plow! If it's an Ice Bowl they will wear short sleeves!
11. If it's a street fight, they will bully! If it's a dance, they will soar!
12. They bring home the "Lamar Hunt" this Sunday.
13. They bring home the "Belichick" in February.

Bank on it!

If the game was in NE I'd call it a lock but where it's in Denver it would be foolish not to be concerned. The concerns I have for this game.

1. The refs (league) serving up some home cooking. Officials in general seem to favor the home team and I'm sure the league will put in a crew who's metrics lean that way even more on this game.

2. The OL especially with the crowd noise. If they don't protect and the Pats turn it over it could be trouble.

3. Special teams big plays. The Patriots this year have been the victim not the benefactor.

4. Staying healthy. They cannot afford more big injuries.

5. Shut down the run. Do so and Manning isn't going to convert don't and they control the clock and keep our offense off the field.

Things I'm not worried about.

1. Phillips confusing Brady. If Denver shuts down NE it's because they win the one on one matchups especially along the line.

2. Manning hurting them deep. Shut down the run and the short passes. Why the Steelers were giving so much cushion is beyond me. Tomlin is so overrated.

And lets put Andy Reid in there as well.

They can win a close game! I just don't want a close game! I hope New England jumps out to a lead & keep their foots on the Denver's throat!

I would expect that Brady is better than 5-2 vs. most defensive coordinators.
