So why do most of us dislike Peyton Manning?

The guy cant win a big game. He couldnt beat florida in college. He left and the vols finally beat florida and won a title

How he was "the greatest QB ever" while sitting there with all the stats and no rings vs Brady's 3 ring. Then he gets his 1 (against a GARBAGE Bears team) and the media gets even more over the top about him. His two Super Bowl chokes are brushed over, he pretends he's "one of us", and his father is a Grade A Drama Queen.

AKA Horseface

It's weird. I don't have a legit answer on why I don't like him. And it's funny because Brady and Peyton are pretty good friends, and Brady looks up to him
*Because his supposed 'greatness' is a story the mediots have forced on us for years as we've watched him meltdown time after time after time after time ......
*Because he's selfish and all about his own numbers.

Why?
Because most Americans like Peyton more than they like Brady. They like him because they relate to him.

Because they like him and relate to him, they want him to be "better" than Brady, because it's threatening to them that someone who is "more like them" wouldn't be better than someone who isn't like them. So, they find reasons to think he's in the same league as Brady.

Many of Brady's fans, including a lot of people on this board, resent that.

Personally, I just find it amusing. The fact that Brady and Manning are good friends and have been there for each other when they were injured suggests that they probably find it amusing as well.

Why do a whole lot of people like Manning more than Brady?

Peyton played for a mid-west team. He sells Buicks, Pizza and insurance.
They love him in the fly-over states.

Brady's Metro.
He's had a kid with an actress (he apparently loves the kid, includes him in his family and is completely responsible for his well being).
He's married to a super model.
He lives in New York, Boston and, at times, Los Angeles...not flyover state locations.

It's not really him it's more about how the media treats him.

You're getting your heads mixed up horseface is Elway or Shannon Sharpe...

yeah, absolutely..he's more Herdhead, an amalgam of a whole bunch of jackazz heads rolled into one

Brady looks up to him? Hilarious. I just read Gary Myers' book "Brady vs Manning" which chronicles their friendship. Nothing there, or anywhere else I'm aware of, suggests Brady "looks up to him." Their entire history relating to one another suggests that, if anything, the opposite should be true.

Brady has had the rules changed on his team by Manning more than four times that we KNOW of in his career.

Brady is NOT a sexual assault scumbag that pays off attending women physicians for their silence to further a career built on mud and feces.

Brady does not throw team mates under the bus as a matter of routine year after year after year after year after...well, you get the point

I wouldn't feed Papa John's piece-a-shyt-zza to an Al Qaeda bomber. Brady doesn't endorse death-by-artery-explosion products with an "aw shucks so what?" air of ignorance.

Endorses Buick? Really???? THAT is some kind of paradigm? Some kind of signature of excellence? "Peyton endorses Buick! I want to buy one!!!!!" said NO ONE EVER.

I could go on but...to do so would be suffocatingly repetitive, not to mention nauseating.

Because he's a selfish douchebag who throws his teammates under the bus, only cares about his stats and ****s his pants in big games. Also his father was an overrated bum and his stupid little brother thought he was so good that he could dictate where he was going to play before he even took an NFL snap. I despise the entire family, even Cooper that useless POS and I despise the media even more for shoving them down our throats and daring to compare him to the GOAT.

I hope this is how every post-game midfield meeting goes
Peyton (w/ Manning Face ON): "Good game Tom, good luck next week."

Really I respect the Manning for his prolonged period of excellent play - there's not many that have achieved what he has over such a long time. Yeah, he does generally show an inclination towards selfishness in the cloak of "aw shucks" selflessness. I feel fortunate for being able to see through that, and fortunate that the guy I cheer for is better. Hell if the media wasn't so willing to hold his jock for him, getting behind TB for the past 15 years (and hopefully several more to come) might not be as fun. As several have said, everyone needs an anti-hero.

This week the anti-hero is a full-fledged "game manager" as a QB, which once upon a time was TB's original sin...but now that it is Peyton managing the game it is being re-cast as a noble, selfless, legendary effort of a fading star. Go figure.

Edit: Add to that the fact that he spent the vast majority of his most productive years playing 10-ish games per year in a dome. Domes should be illegal for the NFL. I actually had failed to notice that Minnesota was only temporarily playing outdoors while they await construction and was really thrilled that they had moved outdoors. They used to make the Super Bowl up there when they played outdoors, someone should tell them.

I never liked Manning till I saw his SNL performance where he was great and made fun of himself. His United Way skit was a classic and he is far funnier than Tom. Tom is a better QB hands down. My disdain is in regards to the way the press handles Peyton and I hated Indy fans who saw Indy/NE as some sort of moral war. 20 years from now Manning will be viewed more like Marino than Montana. Brady will be viewed above Montana.

I don't dislike him ... I just enjoy watching him lose ... especially to Brady.

Huh?? Who the hell hates Manning?? I thought everyone here were all big fans of the big lug??? I love what PM brings to the game -- such as his 480 winning percentage in the playoffs. I'm a HUGE fan of that. And I am just as huge! a fan of a number of his games, specifically:
Sept. 30, 2001 — Patriots 44, Colts 13
Oct. 21, 2001 — Patriots 38, Colts 17
Nov. 30, 2003 — Patriots 38, Colts 34
Jan. 18, 2004 — Patriots 24, Colts 14
Sept. 9, 2004 — Patriots 27, Colts 24

Jan. 16, 2005 — Patriots 20, Colts 3
Nov. 7, 2007 — Patriots 24, Colts 20
Oct. 7, 2012 — Patriots 31, Broncos 21
Oct. 7, 2012 — Patriots 31, Broncos 21
Nov. 24, 2013 — Patriots 34, Broncos 31
January 24, 2016 - Patriots 34, Broncos 16

PM's aces in my book!

I don't dislike him. Seems like a generally good guy. I suspect he's a bit of a dink in person, but that's just speculation.

He's been a great QB for a long time. Surely one of the best ever. I've enjoyed watching him play and have a lot of repect for his play. He'll be the Marino to Brady's Montana in NFL lore. No shame in that. At least he got a title.

Tot the people concerned about how the media treats him, i wouldn't worry. I remember back in the 90s when montana and Marino were winding down their careers. There was tons of heated debate on who was better. Marino had a ton of supporters. Now? You never see Marino come up in top 5 qb conversations but Montana is right up there. The TD records will be surpassed, but winning SBs is remembered. 10-15 years from now people will be laughed at for putting Manning on Brady's level.
