Seattle Seachickens vs Carolina Kitties Official Game thread of Anaheim

The 3rd lesson is that the NFL really, really wants to see the Cards or the Panthers succeed. Either the Pats, Broncos or Steelers are going to go to the superbowl from the AFC. All of them are frankly old hat having gone to 9 of the last 10 championship games. We all know how the cabal at 354 Park ave values a "level playing field (for some of it's teams) I worry about them helping to pave the way for "someone new" to be it's champion. And someone new to be the face of the league someone who is not a Manning Rodgers, and definitely NOT a Brady

They clearly want Denver in there. They need Manning to win it all, this season, to balance the rivalry between him and Brady. Carolina will win the NFC. Palmer is a 37 year old QB, playing in his final years. They use these games to develop stars. Newton will likely lose the SB, but he will give a "legendary" performance and be expose to many fans who weren't familiar with him prior to the game. Like Kaepernick against the Ravens at the SB.

It's been obvious for some time that the league wants to set the future path to more filthy lucre than Blackbeard ever dreamed of by making huge media splashes for players like Kaepernik and Wilson. Cam Newton is the real deal, a total package that fits today's NFL landscape like a glove. Big, fast, rocket arm. Hollywood good looks...not even Goondell can screw THIS marketing bonanza up. What Cam will need is a foil, a Manning to his Brady. Who the hell that is is anyone's guess at this point but the fact of life is time marches on...and today marks that new paradigm as the NFL moves forward.

Newton's rival will probably be Wilson. Newton will be Manning, Wilson and the overdone underdog BS story will be Brady. I don't think it will be half as interesting as Brady vs Manning and the NFL will suffer because of it.

Carolina jobbing until the scores are close. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a turnover on Carolina's next possession.

Can Seattle get back in this game! You never know with these lucky SOBS!

I think Seattle gets within 10 before this is over.

I don't watch Carolina very often and I'm not sure if most people overrated just how good Seattle is, but I have been really impressed with Carolina in the 1st half. Wouldn't trust Carson Palmer against Carolina's defense.

The Cards have looked phenomenal at points this season. Good line, good defense, a running game and receivers. Palmer got his first playoff win this week. I would expect, barring a complete Palmer meltdown, the game should look like the last Pats-Panthers game.

All of the Panthers games I have watched have a team treading dangerously on the line of losing, and pulling wins out. This game started badly with Wilson playing badly, and the Seachickens just could not get out of their own way (now you have a primarily defensive team trying to be an offensive team).

Post 2005 is when they brought in the final set of rules that wrapped the QBs in tissue paper. I'm imagining what Jack Lambert would have done to Newton.
I've been a Pats fan since birth (kinda had no choice as my pop is from Thomaston).

I've played regulation tackle football all my life (had a stint of HS and college Basketball). Needless to say, I know how much softer the game has gotten, because when I was getting hit, it was rub dirt on it and get back out there if you ain't unconscious.

But I find it weird you pine for the olden days of warriors yet are offended by a guy taunting.

You don't remember guys taunting back then? Cause I do.

Remember Prime Time? Try high stepping for the last 20 yards today.

Seattle is lucky Andy Reid isn't their coach. Would be the start of the fourth after that touchdown drive.

Actually, someone on the Cards did that yesterday, wagging his finger in the pursuers face, A 99 yard return of an interception. Sadly for him, it was called back and he looked like a chump.

I don't much like taunting period, but there are also degrees of it. I'd prefer if professional football players acted mostly like professionals though. Cam Newton acts like a 12 year old xbox Halo player. So, pretty much a douche.

Plus, he trademarked himself before he'd been in the league 10 minutes, and he's trying to trademark his TD celebration.

Seattle has some momentum going. Its not over yet

Hopefully the 2nd game will be better

They had it

I've grown to really like Baldwin as a receiver

Seattle needs to have 21 points and hold Carolina to nothing by the end of the 3rd quarter to have a chance. Slim chance....

Edit: Carolina's secondary is a mess aside from Norman. They'll be exposed soon enough if not more during this game.

That missed throw may have been the difference between a comeback and a loss.
