Random Patriots/NFL Thoughts That Don't Warrant A New Thread

I think that, reluctantly, BB finally came to the conclusion that getting the Edelmans, Hightowers, etc. relatively healthy for the big show one & done series is worth risking losing HFA by having them suit up. As you say we are a totally different team with all these guys playing vs them out or limping around.

IF (and only if) they lose to Miami, that !@##$^%$&^$# onside kick fiasco against the Eagles is going to loom large.

Edit: QM, disagreeing with that is just silliness on your part.

No, I'm just disagreeing with your well-demonstrated idiocy in believing NE lost that game because of that play. Of course, we all know that once you've put your head up your sphincter on something you are constitutionally incapable of removing it, so I wouldn't have expected you to learn anything on that one.

You deeply underestimate the media. And, of course, the NFL.

Nah, a 5th SB victory and back to back championships would basically give them no choice. While there will always be the same old idiot fanbases and stupid comments about "Bill Belicheat," there were also some very level headed articles and opinions just the same. We also have to understand that the scandal was fresh in the minds of everyone at that point last year.

As a matter of fact, there were plenty of people who got past the whole deflategate scandal after last year's SB win, with a Sports Illlustrated cover about him being the best ever, etc. That lasted through the late winter/early spring and was on display with David Letterman's comments, President Obama's comments, etc.

There's nothing that can be done about the NFL, aside from totally crushing everything in our paths. Unfortunately, injuries have made that impossible, so we'll have to hope for the best. If this team makes it all the way to the SB again, it's certainly not going to be easy, but I don't think there's any question that more people are going to come around to the fact that Brady is the best ever, and that the Patriots are a tremendous organization.

Fiasco means complete failure, which is what that kick obviously was. So, if either of us was demonstrating idiocy, it would be you.

I'd be curious to know if it's confirmation bias or if there is a real stat that can be found.

When NFLN shows clips of teams making good plays, it seems a high percentage of opposing teams tend to have images where they show the Patriots. Not saying that the Pats play poorly, but the people who put these video collages together might be more prone to have clips against "good" teams and especially against teams that other people can cheer against?

Hmm. Seems you started a new thread here. I must be mistaken.:)

So am I the only one that has noticed (at least the ones I've seen) that the commercials for the playoffs, the only clips you see of the Patriots is of the games they lost to Jets and Broncos? Yes I know a silly thing for me to notice, but I've seen so much of the NFL trolling the Patriots out there, was wondering if this was on purpose.

Scar, Reiss to talk playoff football @ Patriots HoF Sat. 1/9, 1 PM

The Hall's Playoff Huddle | The Hall at Patriot Place

Dante Scarnecchia coached in 39 playoff games, including seven Super Bowls, during his long career as a Patriots assistant coach. Mike Reiss has been covering the Patriots since 1997 for the likes of Patriots Football Weekly, The Metro West Daily News, The Boston Herald, The Boston Globe and now ESPNBoston.com and ESPN in general.

So when the two huddle up on Jan. 9 at The Hall to talk Patriots playoff football with fans, it’s sure to be a treat. Scarnecchia, and Reiss will appear at The Hall at 1 p.m. that Saturday for a Playoff Huddle where they will engage fans during a question and answer session. With a glut of knowledge and experience, the two should provide a treat for playoff-hungry fans looking to talk football.

. . .

There will be no charge for this event as The Hall will be honoring free admission from 12 - 4 p.m.

Would you buy something like this for your kids?

It was posted over on Reddit.

Forget about the exact color scheme; it's the concept that matters.

We have a Denver office that I could decorate desks with.

The John Carroll/Rutgers Patriots

We all know about the plethora of Rutgers alumni on the Patriots player roster.

But what Rutgers is to active players in Foxboro is what John Carroll University is to coaches/front office.

I bring this up today because of the reports that Director of Pro Scouting Bob Quinn is leaving the Patriots to become the Detroit Lions' GM.

Reports from Mike Reiss is that Dave Ziegler is most likely to be promoted into Quinn's Patriots position.

The Pats already have John Carroll alums such as Assistant Coaches Nick Caley and Jerry Schuplinski, Player Personnel Director Nick Caserio and, of course, OC Josh McDaniels.

So when seeing Reiss' opinion that Dave Ziegler is the next in line for Quinn's job, I googled him.

Yup.......John Carroll.

Am I the only one that........

thinks this igmo looks like goodell?
Gives me a warm fuzzy thinking about how ill goodell is today.

Patriots winning a 5th superbowl despite my ego-driven witchhunt? ... queue awkward laugh...

Pity about the Steelers: What I wanted asked of Tomlin

In the coaches conference call I wanted these questions asked:
Have your headsets ever gone out somewhere other than Foxborough?
Since it always happens here, will you plan for it this time?
Do you plan to cover Gronk this time?
Will you continue to let your assistants interfere on the field or will you take that back again?

How long before "Phone trouble" would have disconnected the line? :)

Oh I'd start the Roethlesberger one by congratulating him on having no visible affects after landing on his bad shoulder.

Oh, well. Pity.

Statistical Errors on the Patriots/Chiefs Game??

Can't find the dozens of Sacks the ferocious Chiefs Front 7 racked up against our horrific Offensive Line.

Props!! To Coach DeGuglielmo, to that much maligned Offensive Line, to the entire Team's Blocking, to Tom Brady's incredible Processing Speed and Quick Twitch Passing, to Kong, and perhaps most of all to the Triumphant Return of Julian Edelman for making this remarkable Performance possible!!
