Now I am little worried about Danny Amendola. Hope he stays.

Hicks is a must.

Amendola is also a must Proven in the playoffs, top back-up to Edelman, very solid #3 receiver, good punt returner, has great connection with Brady(which is not easy to establish).

Love love Edelman, but he has major injury history. If he goes down for a few games, who takes his place? K Martin looked good going against #4-#5 CBs, but he will probably struggle big time going against #1 CBs.

For those *****ing about $$, consider that Edelman and LaFell make little $ compared with other #1 and #2 receivers in the league. I surely wouldn't want to lose Amendola over 1 mil, when the cap keeps going up.

Keep the offense in place, don't mess with it. Amendola is a perfect fit for the Pats short-pass offense. After seeing so many WRs struggle to establish a connection with Brady, it would be a shame to get rid of Amendola, only for the WR who is supposed to take his place, fail to establish the connection with Brady.

Martin had one catch today. Lafell has 37 receptions for 515 while martin had 24 catches for 269. And lafell had 953 yards on 74receptions last year. I know lafell hasn't played as well hoped he would but that doesn't mean Martin is better than him. I'm betting BB really likes the fact that Martin is a decent 4th or 5th option and obviously his return abilities give him extra value on Special teams.
He had 2 catches and was targeted more downfield than Lafell was. His stats aren't as high, but he's more consistent when the ball is thrown his way imo. Certainly has much better hands.

Those swing passes to LaFell were dumb. Martin has more speed. They should have gone to him instead

What's wrong with a screen or slip play?

Dust off that chapter, Josh and use those plays once in a while...

Would it be fair to say that Martin is who they hoped Boyce was going to be?
I don't think Martin has the pure speed Boyce had, but he certainly has the hands and brains Boyce never had.

He's not that far off. Martin ran a 4.45 (Boyce 4.38) at the combine. He does have Boyce's quickness and explosion though.

And, yet, from Tate/Galloway to Lloyd to Johnson to doubling up in 2013 to LaFell and the many, many others, the team's still been trying to get that OWR since 2009.

Yes, and the image of a tall, fast, leaping OWR on the field with The Squirrel, Gronk and Lewis is enough to make us all a little nuts, even with the recent success of the offense.

KMart has been good and very consistent. He always seems to be the one that is getting open on broken plays and becoming an outlet for Brady.

Mike Reiss weighs in:

The Patriots have Edelman, Brandon LaFell, Amendola, Martin, Aaron Dobson and Chris Harper under contract at receiver next season, but Amendola’s status is clouded by the fact his base salary spikes to $5 million and it’s hard to imagine he’s back at that number (perhaps the sides work out a new deal as they did last offseason). I envision the Patriots looking to add a dynamic receiver this offseason, with the draft the most likely avenue. That’s been one position that has challenged them over the years.

As jobs are filled, chances increase that Josh McDaniels will stick around

If Josh becomes HC in Titans and you got BoB in Texans. Infact they wouldn't have a better market ever...

You're right about Josh and Bill O'Brien having interest, although I doubt either woul offer him $11M over two seasons. But who knows?

Amendola is a tough little SOB, a Super Bowl champion, and a guy who could be a clubhouse leader in a place like Tennessee that desparately needs a few winners around to change the culture there.

Josh did say that his family is very happy in NE. Maybe Josh is just waiting for the Patriots HC job to open and that would be the perfect situation for him & his family.

Patricia is more likely to bolt to a HC elsewhere. I don't see him being the next Patriots HC.

I'm not sure I want JMD over Matt P.

There is just something about Patricia.

I think that's because LaFell was given a larger portion of the opportunities. As for yesterday,

Recent news on Brandon LaFell - New England Patriots - Rotoworld.com
Brandon LaFell caught 3-of-5 targets for six yards in the Patriots' Divisional Round win over the Chiefs.

A truly ugly statline. LaFell will be an interesting DFS play for the AFC Championship Game if the Pats host the Steelers, but will be in danger of getting erased if New England is forced to play in Denver.

All I remember was two dump offs in the flat, one for a few plus yards the other for a few minus. I just think the team doesn't have much confidence in him as a deep threat WR.

Keshawn Martin caught 2-of-4 targets for 57 yards in the Patriots' Divisional Round win over the Chiefs.

Martin's 42-yard catch in the second half was the Patriots' longest of the game. The role player will be the puntiest of DFS punt plays for the AFC Championship Game.

A bit OT, but your mention of Edelman as "The Squirrel", followed by Gronk, makes me think we could refer to them as "Moose and Squirrel" from the Bullwinkle cartoons.

Well he isn't really much of a deep threat wide receiver and he is coming off a foot injury that I don't think is fully healed. Martin is a role player whose main value is that he also plays special teams. And don't scout box scores, anytime a player has drawn the ire of fans then everything they do wrong is because they suck and need to be cut and everything they do right is a fluke or they aren't doing enough. Martin has dropped plenty of passes and had some very poor play at times as a wide receiver and as a special teamer
