The pass that gave KC hope

They were OK, but the review booth? That should have been auto-review on Brady's run.

Also, the PI that wasn't called when Edelman was obstructed before the Patriots' final FG.
Really the only thing that bothered me today was that no call in the endzone on Edelman.

The Chiefs had some Ticky tacky calls their way as well, so it all evened out.

Really, we're going to complain about officiating even in a win?

Both lines got away with some holds. All credit to Alex Smith, who played out of his mind today. He wasn't Brady, but nobody is, and he did a damned good job of keeping the score closer than it had a right to be.

The 4th and 10 escape was maddening. First Jones misses a grab by an inch then Smith ducks UNDER a sure tackle by Nink and escapes forward to throw a 1st down into double coverage. I wanted to rip my eyes out after that one.

The refs let both teams play. This is not a game to complain about refs regardless of the score. We got away with a lot, the got away with a lot. This is how football is supposed to be officiated. I will not have any problems if this is how our games are officiated going forward.

I think all of us were too pissed off that we didn't finish that sack to notice the awful officiating during the play.

I definitely noticed some holds that they weren't calling, and a few of them were obvious.

All in all, Im satisfied with the officiating.

I personally thought that particular play was officiated just fine. Nothing I havent seen hundreds of times whether it be Big Ben, Cam, Wilson etc buying time.

The issue I have is Mayo. Go back and watch ONLY him. There is absolutely NO REASON why he shouldnt make that tackle.

I think those who say they let them play, are right, but only for the first half.

This play was like the signal to the Chiefs that refs would let them do anything to the DL and the holds and particularly uncalled hands to facemasks expanded exponentially thereafter.

Just my opinion, but first half refs were ok, then in 2d they got the memo to either keep it competitive for ratings or try to sabotage the pariah team (from guess who- Bland-I'm-Moe).

blatant hold later in the game on a key 3rd or 4th down too. Way too much was allowed bu their OL yesterday. We never seem to get holding calls in our favor and its infuriating.

Jarvis Green was also spotted.

Honestly, I wonder if any OL could hold back an average NFL DL on a 3.5 second passing play without technically holding. The athletes have gotten that good. The refs are in an impossible position in that sense: if they actually called holding based on what's written in the rules, eventually there wouldn't be any drop back passes.

Also, could they have given us a replay of the receiver catching that ball? They cut away when the ball hit ground. You couldn't even tell.

Also, what the heck was this? "By rule, the Patriots have to allow the officials to officiate."

Say what?
Still scratching my head on that one. Can anybody define this?

Never mind, found the thread on it.

No, there shouldn't have been. It wasn't a score, wasn't a turnover, and wasn't inside 2 min left in a half. If everyone's following the rules that's not reviewable unless a coach challenges it.

The way I saw it, the Hicks takedown was as a result of Hicks losing his leverage/balance and the O-lineman using the occasion to drive Hicks backward and into the ground. Not a hold in my opinion, just good play. On the other hand, the Sheard block in the back was a blatant miss and led directly to the completion. If he wasn't blocked in the back he most likely makes the tackle. I also like when refs let them play but you can't miss/not call such a blatant foul at such a crucial time in the game.

The real pass that gave KC hope was the bang bang double -deflection reception by JE to ice the game.

TB12 got away with one.

Go look at that one again. The only reason Hali gets hit with the ball is because he stumbled. If Hali hadn't stumbled, that ball goes through to the intended receiver.

Not saying it was a bad call or bad decision. It was a lucky deflection.

I am saying that because of the deflection, the team was fortunate the ball landed right in JE's loving arms...

I hear you. I'm just noting that the Patriots' luck was immediately preceded by the Chiefs' luck on the same play.

....and I have zero issue with winning due to luck. :p
