Will he dominate Saturday?

Has he ever played big in a playoff game before?

Yes. 3 sacks and a forced fumble. He will be on Smith like White on Rice.

He'll definitely put out 110% because of the stuff this week. He feels like he's let down his coach and his team.

I have the same feeling, that he's going to play out of his mind.

He may be called to play more contain. We'll see.
Just want to see the Patriots play, this 2 week delay is only good if it's before the SB (though I appreciate the extra rest the team gets, just less fun as a fan).

More basic question that only BB can answer - Will chandler jones even play on Saturday?

Lots of questions for Jones this weekend.

I think BB will sit him for some time at the start of the game. It would be par for the course. Whether it will be a series or a quarter, I don't know.

After that I think he will be balls out. He's a good kid with a good motor and he knows he FU. He will have a lot of motivation to play well.

That being said, this is going to be a "keep the QB in the pocket" game, so the hard rush is likely out of the question for our DE's. I wouldn't expect a lot of sacks in this game, so he could have a great game without them. IMO, the key is stopping the KC run game.....and we will know pretty quickly how that is going.

The last few games the Pats have started very slowly in defending the run and much better as the game went along. Since our offense is in such flux, it would behoove the Pats to start much faster on D this week.

Alex Smith can run a little bit but he does not have speed to turn that run into a big chunk of yardage. I disagree that this will be a keep the QB in the pocket game.

Probably not the whole game, that's for sure. Belichick is likely to use his mistake as a lesson for the team that you don't go out and get high the week of the biggest game of the year.

He's also gone 5/6 games without a sack, so if that leads you to believe that he's going to "dominate" on Sunday, you may be a bit of an optimist.

I think you underrate him. IIRC I saw a 60-yd QB scramble last week called back on penalty. You don't go that far without wheels. (Collins is faster though).

Smith gained over 500 yards rushing this year. While I agree with you that he doesn't have great speed, we may very well see him contained this week.

Never under estimate what a wounded animal is capable of. No doubt , The Jones family is a very proud one, and the recent run ins with the law for both Jon and Chandler are a huge embarassment to family name. He is probably licking his chops right now, with the opportunity to come out and do some damage control by putting on a great performance. With that all said, No...he won't. Jabaal Sheard on the other hand......

I wouldn't at all label this optimistic, and that is solely due to the opponent.

Chandler Jones has gone up against some pretty good tackles down the stretch post-Denver Broncos game, and had been battling an injury that may or may not have hampered his play during that time-frame, which furthermore forced him to sit out the season finale.

The Chiefs offensive line is not particularly stellar in pass protection, and with Maclin hobbled (yes, he has an injured ankle, and it will affect him to a certain degree) the lack of reliable downfield targets minus Kelce (whom is a TE, a position the Patriots defense has defended particularly well, hitherto) could be an overlooked issue which may manifest during the game.

IMO, this game sets up for Chandler Jones and the rest of the front seven to pad the stat sheet... as long as the run defense shows up and consistently forces the KC offense into long down and distance situations.

All fine points, but we also have no idea how hobbled he still is, with injuries to the toe and abdomen.

Hopefully, he can turn it on at the right time, but with only 3 sacks in the second half of the season and the last 6/8 games coming without one, I'm skeptical of using the word "dominate."

@supafly I too hope that the collective recency bias of us posters is obliterated by a dominant performance from all three phases... Chandler included.
