This is a truly fascinating thing to watch. I can't imagine anyone watching this without being horrified by the story. Also I can't imagine anyone watching this not believing what was told in this story is not true. This show was riveting and all the people in it who were doing shady things are all criminals. Fascinating.

Just watched it in full for the first time. Must See TV for Pats fans, and another reason to drop the NFL* after our coach and QB are gone.

so much for an independent (from the NFL) source of news reporting. unless some other news organization takes up the torch, this story is probably dead:

Al Jazeera America to Shut Down by April

Manning is pretty ignorant here.

When Al-Jazeera America began, it went on a spending spree and lined up some of the best investigative journalists around. This is a big blow for online news sources in America.

Al-Jazeera is closing in the US because they don't get the traction or the respect all the other US media companies. That could be due to their name sounding Arabic or just the Boys Club of existing US media pushing them around.

People almost never sue the media for libel in the US (we should know that, given how far we got pushed in FrameGate and did nothing) and yet two or three people from that HGH article already are suing Al-Jazeera. This isn't because Al-Jazeera is wrong or reporting false information, those athletes are suing because people aren't legally afraid of Al-Jazeera due to perception.

The HGH reporting is good reporting. It was done right. I believe it to be true. It was Al-Jazeera's last punch at seeing if they had any respect in the US. Given how little traction that story got despite it being huge, they don't have any traction and they are leaving.

Al Jazeera in America is closing because they are losing money and the huge drop in oil prices mean that Qatar doesn't want to keep shelling out the coin.

"The decision is driven by the fact that our business model is simply not sustainable in an increasingly digital world, and because of the current global financial challenges," Al Anstey, the network's CEO, said in an email to staffers.

A translation for that last sentence includes terrible ratings for the on-air channel and plummeting oil prices making the deep pockets in Qatar that kept the channel afloat no longer so deep.

Why Al Jazeera America is going off the air April 30

They are only closing the TV part ....

concentration will be news via the internet now which is the way some media are going.

Also because oil prices are ridiculously low and they're owned by the royal family of Qatar, whose entire revenue is derived from oil (well, and slave labor).

AJAM is a pretty decent source for news on most things not about the Middle East, though I never watched their TV version. Can't stand cable news in any of its forms.

This is an odd development though. How does this affect Howard's/Zimmerman's lawsuit? I don't know.

It would have been nice to details from those suits released. Hopefully TMZ is still digging around.

Shame.

Tom Brady's "ridiculous" diet, Chandler Jones' reaction to marijuana and Belichick's black eye still recieves media coverage, while Pedton on that HGH gets nothing. #conspiracy.

Boomer Esiason just said on his TV Show that he wanted nothing to do with the story because it came from Al Jazeera. He said, enough said. Consider the source. He's against them just because I guess.

It is the Arabic name.

Which is also strange when you think of Qatar. Does Boomer also not like driving his car? I mean, Qatar staged the US Military in its Iraq wars, especially the Gulf War.

So hopefully the Zimmerman/Howard lawsuits continue.

Ryan Zimmerman & Ryan Howard lawsuits v. Al Jazeera America will likely continue as against parent Al Jazeera Media.

Al Jazeera America is a subsidiary of the Al Jazeera Media Network. the entire subsidiary is closing, but AJMN's other TV operations are fine and will be continuing, including another English-language TV operation called Al Jazeera English which focuses on international news. they will probably be re-packaging this content for the American market.

the upshot is that they will be focusing less on domestic American news, so stories like this one won't be pursued.

I heard that this morning as well. Boomer is hot and cold. Sometimes he is unbiased, but other times, not so much. He was talking about how TB was beat up by the media because another team accused the Pats. 4 head was accused by a rag news org. . .....BTW, are the Mannings the luckiest bastards in Football or what?

I would think that would give it more credibility considering the awards they have won, and they have no affiliation with American sports, so there is no conflict of interest.

Did he say "rag" news organization?? He might catch some crap for that.

:pNo. That's was my lack of a better word. I think he actually said "towel". Because they are always cleaning up the mess they leave behind. I didn't get it.
