Edit: He was good in just about everything.

He was such a great villain in Diehard. One of my favorite movie lines: "Shoot the glass."

Wow. All these guys going @69.

He was always quirky and I enjoyed his characters (even with Costner in Robin Hood). Prayers to all his family and friends; RIP.

Hans and Snape....damn, two amazing roles, awesome in both. RIP

Man, I'd just been talking about him last week, and noting that I hadn't seen any of his recent work.

He was one of the few actors (Like a Sam Neil or a James Earl Jones) who could pull me into his character just by voice alone.

Quigley Down Under
Senses And Sensibility
Harry Potter
Die Hard
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Galaxy Quest

and so many more roles I loved him in.

RIP Alan, and God's blessings to your family in their time of grieving.

This is all I know about him, but RIP cancer sucks.

Edit: oh **** this guy was Snape, great actor.

Yup, great actor.

Saw him in Dublin a few years ago in an Ibsen play. Tremendous stage presence.

He was downright despicable as the Sheriff of Nottingham. RIP to a great talent.

A buddy of mine is an actor. He does mainly stage work but hes been a bit player on various TV shows and movies. He told me once he never understood actors who hate being known for one or two roles over their entire career. His point was that if the audience remembers his role, then he did a great job.

That fact that a few of us are talking about Rickman's role as Hans Gruber in a movie from almost 30 years ago is a testament to his work. I watched that movie over the holidays (after all, it it is a X-Mas movie :p) and he dominates that movie. Man was he good.

Hell, I've even used his line in the movie when threatening the kids with punishment when they get a little out of line. "I'm going to count to three.....there will not be a four."

I usually have trouble with British Accents and usually use subtitles, however Rickman was always very easy to understand.. his articulation and annunciation skills were quite good.

He was one of the greats.

Love Actually was another outstanding performance by him. Somewhat less of a comic role than Galaxy Quest, I'd say.

He did a good US Southerner in that made for TV film about the underappreciated black sidekick to a famous white surgeon.

I still don't know how they made Sigourney Weaver hot in that movie. Makeup has amazing powers.

Man. One of the greats. "Clay.........Bill Clay" RIP

my son-in-law persuaded me to watch "Die Hard" after our annual "White Christmas" viewing on Xmas eve Our new tradition is now a movie double-header RIP Alan

RIP Professor Snape!
I didn't even realize he was 69 years old. Thought he was younger than that.
