OK, I had to look up "Synthetic Marijuana" - - just call me boring old suburban dad guy......

Looks (to paraphrase Edelman) legal-ish.......

Synthetic cannabis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Surge In Use Of 'Synthetic Marijuana' Still One Step Ahead Of The Law

"......But packets of "spike" and "K2" and "spice" are still sold in many mom-and-pop convenience stores, because they contain versions of cannabinoids not covered by the ban, says Matt Strait of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

"They are in a legal grey area," Strait explains, "because they're not specifically named in the statute."

That keeps makers and dealers of spike one step ahead of state and federal laws. Congress is weighing how to streamline the process of regulating new versions. Meanwhile, the Drug Enforcement Administration has been investigating and temporarily banning some new forms of the drug."

Still, CJ, what the hell are you doing????????????????

"......But back in Syracuse, some health professionals and spike users say the government can't move fast enough to keep up with new varieties hitting the streets."

K2-Spice and other fake weed- this was one of the first suggestions made in this thread. They may act a bit like the THC in marijuana, but they have tons of bad side effects, including disorientation.

It's just Gummi Berry Juice is main ingredient. But I guess not made for human consumption.

Local doctor weighs in on the 'Gummy Bear Cleanse' | Suffolk Times
An ingredient known as Lycasin is the culprit. Lycasin is a registered trade name for a sugar substitute known as maltitol, commonly used in sugar-free candies, gum and sweets for diabetics.

In the U.S., products containing Lycasin do not carry a warning as they do in some other countries, said Dr. Dhiren Mehta, a gastroenterologist associated with both Peconic Bay Medical Center and Eastern Long Island Hospital.
“It doesn’t get absorbed as much by the gastrointestinal system [as compared to regular sugar], because humans do not have the enzyme to break it down completely,” Dr. Mehta said.

While this is advantageous for diabetics, enabling them to satisfy a sweet tooth without spiking their sugar levels, the effects of Lycasin can be “explosive” if more than 100 milligrams is consumed at one time. In terms of gummies, the “nuclear crisis,” as some describe it, seems to happen after about a dozen bears (by moore at dhead support). “Don’t eat more than 15 in a sitting unless you are trying to power wash your intestines,” one commenter warned in an online review.

Source with knowledge of the situation confirms it was synthetic marijuana that caused Chandler Jones' bad reaction and hospitalization.

That's kind of what I was suggesting regarding "something to work through".
What the heck is "synthetic marijuana?" I grew up in the 60's, so I'm more than familiar with weed. :D However I didn't know it came in synthetic form.....

Google is my friend, I suppose...

I don't know if Salvia is allowed in the NFL drug policy (most likely not), but the new drug policy will not result in a suspension (or at least it shouldn't).

I don't care if players use weed or synthetic weed.

That's not how I read it.

I edited it a few minutes ago to "Looks (to paraphrase Edelman) legal-ish......." after reading the part of the NPR article: ""They are in a legal grey area," Strait explains, "because they're not specifically named in the statute."

He won't be in any legal trouble for that.

His contract extension is in serious jeapordy, though, if they are deciding (as we have been speculating) between him Donta and Jamie........

I don't either. Don't players get to keep one offense "in house" (i.e. avoid a suspension)?

Hopefully this is something he can agree to address in the offseason.

Saw ESPN reporting whatever he took "is not illegal." I guess that lines up with synthetic weed.

I don't really care if he took it. I'm glad he got help when he realized it wasn't working out. I'll care if he takes it again during the season knowing it'll screw him up...

If I recall correctly Marcell Dareus was arrested and suspended for Spice possession in 2014.

Anyways regardless of the legalities that **** is way more dangerous than normal weed.

AKA Salvia.

YouTube has some legendary Salvia vids in case anyone is interested

Def not wax
Salvia...oh boy what a dangerous one. I had a friend break through and he started seeing people as turtles. Another friend forgot how to speak English for five minutes and instead was running around yelling in Spanish. Needless to say that was the first and final experience with it.

Winslow Wont Receive Suspension For Synthetic Marijuana Possession - RealGM Wiretap

Kellen Winslow will not be suspended under the NFL's substance-abuse policy after being found in possession of synthetic marijuana.

Synthetic marijuana is not on the NFL's list of banned substances.

"Our drug policy is one that has strict and well-defined drugs that are banned," union boss DeMaurice Smith said, via NJ.com. "If they are not on the list, they can't serve as the basis for discipline."

Nothing more to see here! In the clear!

Possible top-10 2016 NFL Draft prospect Robert Nkemdiche, who was arrested after falling out of a hotel window in Atlanta last weekend, was reportedly using synthetic marijuana and was paranoid at the time of his accident.

According to Clay Travis of FOX Sports, the Ole Miss defensive tackle was using what’s commonly referred to as “fake weed,” a synthetic cannabinoid which doesn’t show up on drug tests. But it also comes with side effects which include paranoia, delusion and hallucinations.

The report said Nkemdiche was convinced someone was chasing him when he went through a double-pane window and fell 15 feet to the ground. A bush apparently broke his fall. He was taken to an Atlanta hospital for stitches, and was released before being taken to jail and charged with marijuana possession.

Serious question. Does this affect his chances of being re-signed (negatively obviously). Not sure BB will have been thrilled by this self-imposed distraction the week of a playoff game.

(Apologies if this has already been discussed - I haven't read the whole thread).
