Foxboro cops: Pats' Chandler Jones sought medical help early Sunday

I don't think @XLIX is claiming that laws were broken. He's just pointing out that claiming definitively that laws weren't broken is premature based on how little we know. We don't know either way. We can reasonably speculate that he either didn't break the law or, if he did, there isn't enough to charge him with anything. But again, it's too early to throw definitive claims around either way.

It seems reasonable to expect that if laws were broken, he would have been arrested or charged. Given that all reports are to the effect that he was not arrested, to wring our hands over whether he "actually" broke a law or not (especially given how little information we have) seems a bit strange.

Based on what I have seen watching NFL network,Twitter and some sports center this isn't even going to be a national story anymore it is has died down for the time. Only people talking about for more than 30 seconds are this forum and some local Pats writers.

Doesn't hurt that this 'story' broke on the same day as the Rams to LA announcement. No room for other NFL headlines at the moment, even Roethlisberger and Hue Jackson are pretty much footnotes in this news cycle.

I guess we define wringing hands differently, because it seems pretty clear to me that he wasn't doing that. He was just pointing out that it was premature to claim definitively that no laws were broken, given that we know next to nothing yet. Just because there's little reason to believe that something is true doesn't mean it's appropriate to declare with 100% certainty that it's false.

As far as the lack of an arrest/charges, that's a separate but related issue. Laws are broken all the time without immediate arrests or charges. Even if he showed up at a police station out of his mind on some random mixture of illegal drugs, being high isn't a crime in of itself. Provided he had nothing in his possession he wouldn't be arrested despite having pretty clearly having broken at least one law.

And again, that's not to say he did break any laws. I have no idea if he did or not, and I'm not going to form much of an opinion either way until/unless we learn more. That's the whole point.

My sources tell me Chandler Jones had a very bad cheeseburger Sunday morning.

See how easy the "sources" game is?

Read Doug Moore's own Twitter bio again. What there gives you any reason to read this guy and his unnamed "sources"?

When will it dawn on some people that Doug Moore = Erika Leigh?

I don't follow the guy and I don't know who Erika Leigh is. Also, nobody names their sources, so I don't get why that's a problem. I was just saying that anyone can have sources in the Pats organization. You don't really know whose sources are good and who's aren't unless you follow someone's track record.

Last offseason, some random person named Erika Leigh popped up on Twitter, and insisted that her sources were breaking that John Abraham had signed with the Pats. The more time went on without an announcement, the more people doubted her. The more people doubted her, the more she doubled down on her certainty, becoming extremely defensive in the process.

When Abraham did not sign with the Pats, it was pretty clear that her 'sources' were either garbage or nonexistent. Probably the latter, and she was hoping to get lucky and gain some instant perceived credibility.

Yeah, I was driving this morning and flicked back-and-forth between Mike & Mike and the Boomer and Carton show in New York (a public service so you guys don't have to listen), and didn't hear a peep about Jones the whole time.

Granted, all it will take is someone to leak a false rumor about Belichick squashing the Foxboro police reports for the world to go crazy but that hasn't happened yet.

Yeah, definitely helps that the two people even tangentially tied to this through rumor are Jones--a good player who has virtually no national profile--and Gronk, who everyone likes. If Brady or Belichick was even remotely tied to even the slightest rumored illegality like Gronk was here, the pitchforks would be out. But journalistic integrity suddenly exists when journalists like you, as we saw with Manning.

rotoworld:

Rob Gronkowski was again absent from practice Wednesday.

Gronkowski's absence on Tuesday was a mystery, but we now have a pretty good feel of the reason. Patriots RE Chandler Jones was allegedly at Gronkowski's house over the weekend and overdosed on pills, leading to Jones ending up at the Foxboro police department and then the hospital on Sunday.

Generic Diphenhydramine is the way to go ... buy it in bulk as an allergy medicine as it's more expensive when packaged as a sleep aid. I buy the Walgreens bottle of 365 ...I have extreme serious year round allergies and I get some decent sleep out of it without the psychotic issues. I did a few crazy things on Ambien luckily the worst was going in my shed at 4 am to get the lawn mower. That was my last time on that ****.

Both Gronk and Jones are there and practicing. Maybe he is at the wrong practice field...

I do get a kick out of the Ambien stories. Like the stories from eaters of sugar free Gummy Bears, I'm amused by them while fully taking to heart the resolve that I will never use the product.

What a mess.

The tweet said there was no sighting of them. It forgot to specify IN THE LOCKER ROOM and RotoWorld made a grand leap.

I knew it was reported at practice......but someone is trying to make a story

That guy has NO track record.

Are we really sure its drug related? What if by some chance it was like appendicitis and the pain was so intense it made him somewhat disoriented?

As someone who's apendix ruptured, I can attest to this

point i was trying to make above:

someone, somehwere, is trying to MAKE this a story

after watching how they have handled the peyton story, it is CLEAR there is agenda.....not sure if it is media backlash, everyone hating a winner, or something straight from the top

but someone is trying to create an issue here

Rob Gronkowski

FOXBORO — After not being spotted in the open locker room beforehand, both Chandler Jones and Rob Gronkowski were at Patriots practice Wednesday afternoon, which was on the practice field behind Gillette Stadium.

Gronkowski missed Tuesday’s session, while Jones was apparently involved in a weekend incident that resulted in him going to the hospital. Jones was present at both Monday and Tuesday practices.

The only player missing from the active 53-man roster was rookie offensive lineman Tre’ Jackson. Jackson was present at the other two sessions this week.

Safety/special teamer Nate Ebner was present for a second day in a row after missing Monday’s practice after being seen with a cast on his right arm.

The first injury report of the week will be released later in the afternoon. New England will host Kansas City in the divisional round of the playoffs Saturday afternoon.
